This is one watch, France and defending champions USA in the quarters.

The media has called it "mouth-watering."

USA are at home, so they probably have to advantage. Go Roddick: get your revenge on Gasquet!!! :)

The matches will start and end on April 11-13 at Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Thank Fee for the info on the ties and where it's held. :)

Anyone going to watch it (have fun there sman789, Robbnc and slice, lucky people!)?

Vote if you wish.

Yeah, the USTA has already decided that it will be in Winston-Salem. All Davis Cup matches are best of five except dead rubbers. The tie is also best of five matches (4 singels and 1 doubles).

it will be in Winston-Salem this year

If you are not a USTA member I would register and try to get early tickets, but be ready to pay a lot as the cheap ones went quick last year. I paid $190 per ticket and I got through about 30 minutes after the tickets went on sale.

If you dont get usta member tickets dont get discouraged... there were plenty left over after they went on sale to everyone.

That being said, I cant wait for this. Last years davis cup was the most fun I've ever had a sporting event. It will be exciting seeing tsonga, gasquet, and the american team play.

If i had to guess I would say we will be seeing another indoor hardcourt.

You could have watched last year's final. It was in Portland, which is just south of Washington.

Who knows? You might be able to watch another USA match, provided they make it far enough.

This will probably be a tough match for the USA. They should win the doubles, but Blake has never done well against Gasquet and Roddick also lost to Gasquet the last time they played. Tsonga has been playing well and could be a tough customer as well.

should be a good match up. the french have the players to beat the US no matter what court surface the US picks. they also have a top doubles team in Llodra and Clement to give the bryans a good match. looks like it's 50/50 at this point

Who cares just watch Tsonga:):) This will be a tough test. Tsonga is on top of the world and Gasquet had that magnificent win over Roddick at Wimby last year. The doubles will most likely go to the Bryans (though it will be difficult) But singles will be exciting.

Geez, didn't they just play a tie in North Carolina recently ? When are they going to have another match in Texas ??

Oh yeah, it'll be 3-2 one way or another. Completely evenly matched teams on basically any surface (though I'd give you guys the edge on clay). Even the dubs point is totally a toss-up.

April 11 - 13, can't wait! I don't even like Roddick, mais....."Allez Rhrrrhrro-deeeek!" Allez James!
it's a good old story between the two teams... would be cool for you if you had a dramatic 3-2 ! ;)

man, I will almost want to cheer for gasquet some because his backhand is so amazing to watch.

The winston crowd was really good last year, which is why we were also in the running to host the finals last year as well (along with our ridiculous offer). At any rate I think the crowd can help andy over gasquet and tsonga and hopefully help blake win at least one of his. I have to say, Im not really worried about doubles.

That being said, I wouldnt mind it if one of our guys lost the first day so that we can see at least 1 live rubber on the third day, just to make it more exciting.

This is going to be their 1st meeting on hardcourts :? , but it's too early to tell what will happen. There is still a lot of tennis to be played leading up to that tie, anything can happen.

Bryan's won't have THAT easy of a win, and if Gasquet and Tsonga actually have consistent seasons (which seems impossible for French players) I say they win 3-2 maybe even 4-1.

Bryans will be the key to the match...what happens with them will dictate the win or loss. That is why I like the USAs chances of winning 3-2

Haha, yea Roddick and Blake better have their hard hats on for this one. With the way Tsonga has come on the scene as of late. The French team suddenly looks much more powerful.

i'll go 3-2 USA- i think blake will win one of his matches. i think roddick will be good for 2 wins. i think the bryan bros. will lose.

Personally, I think France has got the edge! Tsonga can beat either Roddick or Blake and I think the same of Gasquet. It just depends on what level of play they produce! I think the Bryans have the doubles rubber on lock though.

...as can Roddick or Blake beat Tsonga or Gasquet, especially if you use the qualifier of..."it just depends on what level of play they produce". To further the discussion, I'd say Tsonga has the biggest risk of falling FLAT out of the those 4. But definitely looking fwd to the Bryans match, will be great to watch and pivotal for the USA.

So with Gasquet out as well, does france have a chance against US ?? but then Llodra is playing the best tennis of his life so you never know..

I don't think Llodra's best matches up well with Roddick or Blake, who are also playing well.

I think Mathieu is the better pick to win a match.

Gasquet apparently has pulled out as he was complaining about "blisters"
Okay I know Blisters are painful
and I do like watching Gasquet play
but he needs to toughen up a bit

You know just so it happens, I had a bad blister from playing 2.5 hours on Sunday. I played again on Tuesday without it being completely healed. Really, I've never had troubles with blisters in the past.

In any case, I had to stop after an hour because it was way too painful. For the hour I couldn't play properly anyway. I woke up on Wednesday and my foot was freaking red and swollen all around the blister. I couldn't even walk, had to stay at home for the day.

Now I am letting it heal, thank you very much :)
