Hello my friends!
Its been a while since my last post here, but today i guarantee - you will know a lot of details you've never had a chance to know about one of the best Russian players in history. Nikolay Davydenko was not only a nightmare on a tennis court for Rafael Nadal (def Rafa in all 3 finals they played against each other), but himself the quickest speedy mover with a computer like head highlighted by winning Tour Finals and reaching no 3 position in ATP rankings.
Today we worked together (Houston SF Burruchaga x Tirante) and have some time to surf a bit on the waves of past good days.
Nikolay signed for me two of his personal racquets.
First one, as he told me, from the very first branch that Prince gave him when he moved to Prince in 2005. The second one racquet is from 2010. Personally Davydenko liked the first ones more, but they were heavier. He started with the weight of approximately 365 grams, and then moved to around 340 grams.
First he caught himself on a desire to try a Prince racquet during Roland Garros 2002, when he lost to Costa. But still few years more he used Head. But didnt get that feedback that he was waiting for with his quick control oriented tennis. He was impressed with the spin that Prince racquet gave to Costa shots and then was impressed with Ferrero shots also with Prince.
He wanted so badly that LB MP mold (Ferrero, Coria, Nalbandian) but Prince recommended him another model. And that racquet, as he said, was his ticket to TOP 10. Before RG 2005 he was TOP 15-TOP 20 guy, but with a Prince racquet became an elite player. Nikolay is sure: the racquet can create a new level for a tennis player (Wawrinka: Head -> Yonex, Davydenko: Head -> Prince, Bublik: Tecnifibre -> Babolat examples).
In Davydenko eyes the best player he confront was Federer, as this guy destroyed every ball from his forehand. Djokovic was a stretchy active from his defence player, Nadal played most of his balls to the center of the court never trying to sweep out the ball, but he was a monster with his passing shots.
