It's funny seems like the one who wins the first set can't win the 2nd in Shanghai - Blake is the only one who got a straight set win so far. ;)

First game, Third set, Jame Blake to serve, the match has completly swung around with James Blake in the ascendancy. Have to favour Blake now when you bear in mind the head-to-head score. James Blake takes the game to lead 1-0 in the third and final set.

Second game. Third set. Davydenko to serve. Davydenko seems to be feeling the pressure now. The Russian holds serve the to tie 1-1 in the third set, (40-30)

Third game, Third Set. James Blake to serve. James Blake seems to be more comftable at the moment and holds serve once again to lead the third set 2-1 (40-15)

Fourth game, Third Set. Davydenko to serve. TV commentators say Davydenko maybe struggling physically as has been making wincing faces towards his coaches box in the stand let's hope its not severe. Davydenko is struggling on his serve now though, and is facing two break points. Appears to be Davydenko left knee that is giviing him trouble. James Blake breaks Davydenko to lead 3-1 in the third set. James Blake has won 8 out of the last 10 games.

Fifth game, Second set. James Blake to serve. Good news is Davydenko seems to have recoverd and now had two break points of his own on the James Blake serve. which he converts to break straight back, on serve again, Blake leads 3-2.

Eigth game, Third set, Davydenko to serve with new balls. If James Blakes wins this match and Nadal is also victorious against Robredo later, James Blake will qualify automaticaly for the Semi Finals. Wow. Just woke up and started reading. Don't feel like I've missed a thing because of the every-game reporting format. Awesome work, Gemini. Thanks.

Tenth game, Davydenko to serve, to stay in the match. First point a fantastic rally between the two players again but Blake just hits the return long. (15-0) James Blake challenges the second point on the serve but it is IN but only by a millimetre at the most (30-0) The next two points are shared (40-15) Davydenkno hits the net on the return (40-30) Davydenko holds with a winner to tie a 5-5 in the third set.

Eleventh Game, Third set. James Blake to serve. Blake taking control of this game and is (40-0) up and hold serve convincingly to lead 6-5 in the thrid set. Pressure back on Davydenko again.

wow..what a comeback. He was playing so sloppy and davy was looking so sharp. I thought he was dead in the water. Great fight from blake :)

Twelth Game. Davydenko to serve. Davydenko must win this game to stay in the match and force a final set tie-break. Davydenko loses the first point on his serve with his return just long (0-15) But wins the next point to tie (15-15) A fantastic return from Blake gives him a (15-30) lead. Again Davydenko hits his return just long and now gives Blake two match points!!! Davydenko recovers the first point with an ace. Blake hits the net on the return on the second, to go to Deuce. Faboulous winner again from Blake gives him the (Ad) and third match point. Davydenko hits his return just wide. Great comeback from James Blake. from a set and a break down to beat Davydenko 2-6 6-4 7-5.

Blake shows some nice will to fight and not going down on himself here in Shanghai! This win should give him the 1st place in his group - don't see him losing to Robredo! :)

well played james ! let's hope that this gives extra motivation for davydenko to beat nadal in his last RR match ! ;)

sad news for nalbandian... :(

PS: what's the masters-series/masters-cup music they always put during the stats and the replay at the end ?...

Thanks for the play by play, Gemini. I feel like I watched the match.

Very strange game here late in the third with Davy returning his own serve,:)

Definitiyl an awesome two sets by James... I got a chance to see him break Davydenko to take the second set and a little bit of the third before heading off to work this morning. Definitly some high quality tennis from both guys.
I wouldn't count robredo out against james as he can be just as tough as Davydenko any given day. But if James maintains the level he played in the second and third sets he'll take robredo right out!

Was Davy not moving well that one moment due to that huge welt on his left leg? I assume he got it by hitting himself on one of his serves. How would I know? I've done the same thing:) I had a huge swollen bruise on my left leg at almost the exact same spot as Davydenko's. It was a good match. Davy is good, and most of the time looked like he was in control of the points.

OK, things go according to what I said to myself: a Fed Blake final.

Now, Nadal might have a say in that, playing Fed probably in the SFs ...

Like the goat said, if everything goes as expected, we should have a fed vs nadal and blake vs rod in the semis, then blake and either fed or nadal in the finals.
