Dawn of the Zedbot

Lol I think Z has to get to a slam QF before we can even think about him getting to #1.

He can maybe end #1 next year (big maybe) but it’s Federer or Nadal this year, no question.

There absolutely is a question. Federer and Nadal both have huge points to defend in the latter half of the year, and arguably they will need to gain more in order to keep Zverev at bay.

To put it simply, Zverev is the most likely to make it throughout the year without injury or extended rest, and actually has a pedigree of winning big events. And concerning Slams, I think it would be nice to think he won't make at least one slam final out of the remaining 3. Federer and Nadal are both likely to prioritize their health, whereas someone like Zverev will be hungery for the number 1 position and achieving as much success as possible.

I may actually weep if Thiem doesn't issue a stern Austrian beatdown tomorrow. Straights minimum, hopefully with pastry. Thiem's underachieving has been all fun and games but things are getting serious now.

Thiem is the main nexgen hope of the One-Handed Backhand Conservation Foundation. We're far from philosophical when the one hander is not well represented at the top of the sport and after Fed, Grigolo is it (Stanimal unlikely to ever return). That is simply unacceptable and may trigger the doomsday machine. The one hander is the shot of those with AT-Grit, with grace and with game, not to be left in the hands of the kinds of muppets that lose to Zedbot in finals, or worse, are underachievers on the scale of Grigolo.

Maybe but I don’t see Nadal slipping at Rome and especially RG. Fed winning Halle and Wimbledon is also a near certainty, don’t see anyone stopping him on grass unless Cilic is zoning or peak Novak appears out of nowhere.

If Fed is smart with his scheduling this year he’ll probably gain points from the USO and WTF, Nadal might drop some points at this time of the year.

Did you "see" Nadal being upset in Madrid? That's the thing about upsets, you don't usually see them coming. Also, what about injury? A 37 year old is very susceptible, meaning Federer could pull out of any tournament of his own accord, and Rafa too. Nothing is stopping Zverev getting injured too, ofcourse, but it's less likely still at aged 21. His body should recover and hold up better.

Dan Evans is back, one hander is safe for now.

Don’t forget about Shapovalov and Tsitsipas! They’re future top 10 for sure!

Thiem is so moral, he gave Ziraffev a free M1000 despite doing all the work of keeping the nadl from chomping into the heavy metals for the week.

Yeah sure but Thiem should be guarding the realm for at least a few years (from pretty much now) until they come online. The Foundation has just seen its greatest success in Fed (and threats in Nads, Djoko) and we're not about to allow a repeat of Grigolo. Thiem needs an intervention.
