Day of RECKONING is HERE!!

The much hope for matchup on Fed's favorite surface between Fed, the GOAT in the making, and boy wonder Nadal is HERE!!

A lot of bragging rights are on the line!

If boy wonders pulls off an upset of epic proportions and actually beats Batman (i'll have to see it to believe it) on his favorite surface, it's over for all those who have argued that boy wonder only beats Batman so much because of the surfaces.

Who would have thought that a dirt baller? who has the audacity to actually say the wimbledon is the tournament he most wants to win, would actually be in his first final this fast - unbelievable!

Can't wait for Sunday!!!!!!!

Can we at least be a little truthful and say that everything felt right into his hands. He has looked impressive but he had a nice draw.I cant wait either, i think the match means more to Federer then Nadal, he needs to silence the critics now or never.

i'm not so sure that federer has that many critics (outside of this board, at least). no one on the tour but nadal seems to be able to beat him. so i'd say he's doing alright for himself.

mark my words, no matter what happens on sunday, this board will be unbearable.

Agreed. Can you imagine if Nadal actually wins? The Nadal-Fed debate will never end.

The same could be said about Fed. He did not face a serious threat in his march to the finals.

Im actually getting sick of both players. Sure, watching Federer is like watching Bob Ross...he makes everything look so easy..."Now just take your backhand and hit it down the line...there you go...its a happy backhand. Nice and easy. That's it! See nothing to it."

Whereas Nadal is a grinder, but I am really sick of him taking 30+ seconds to serve every time. And it also ticks me off to see him have his hand on in the air during every serve of his opponent.

There's a clear gap between Fed, Nadal, and everyone else. Still...I find it hard to root for either one of them.

P.S - I hope Fed wins in straights.

Federer is shaking in his boots right now

He knows his reign as Wimbledon king will be over on Sunday!! What Nadal has done to get to the final is nothing short of amazing, and he will confirm to any doubters that he is the greatest tennis player in the world. Rafa's topspin is still effective on the grass, and he is serving amazingly. He can also flatten out winners and hit obscene angles. Wilander's comments about Federer not having the cojones that Nadal has will be proven once again. Nadal will be 5-0 this year against Federer come sunday.

Federer may be shaking in his boots, but there is not one shred of doubt about Nads. He's picking his butt.

You could tell by the posts on this board that Federer fans were hoping and praying that Nadal would be taken out by Baghdatis, but guess what?! Straight sets victory for Nadal!! LoL! I'm guessing a few fans will have trouble sleeping over the next few days.

I pick Fed slightly in this match, but I wouldn't be shocked if Nadal won. There's one thing that seems to negate the grass surface in this matchup and that's the intangibles. When he sees Nadal possibly making passing shots from the expensive seats and hitting forehand winners, Fed's mind may go walkabout. Here we go again. It will be a great match and it will be entertaining

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Nadal wins in straight sets. His game is far superior to Federer's on any surface. Nadal has mental strength much beyond Federer's. He is a warrior. I think Mats Wilander should do the trophy presentation on Sunday.

Funny how these Nadal worshipers have no rebutal to him picking at his behind all the time. Guess if he didn't pick his butt, he'd be perfect and we'd all be praying to him for divine intervention and supplication.

Funny how you have to make jokes to avert the obvious. 5-0: coming soon to a theatre near you.

Well Nadal certainly has the heart of a champion, he's no Clijsters or Mauresmo with her lack of big play in big matches. Someone pointed out that he has the mental toughness of Jordan? Pretty good analogy. He really has no fear. I can't imagine that Federer will go into this match calm and relaxed. But I still make him a slight favorite. Nadal has nothing to lose though. So you could be right on Sunday.

Yeah, Nadal will probably win. It's going to be something like this:

Nadal hits Huge topspin to Federer's backhand, which continues until Federer hits down the line, Unforced error from Federer, Short ball or Nadal goes for the winner.

For once simon your jerk comments could be correct, I imagine fed is kind of worried, and nadal he has less pressure. However I am sure this worry of feds will be nothing more than helpful keeping him alert at the start of the match.

Are you like Nadals boyfriend.
You seem a bit over protective of young Rafa.

Nadal can't even beat Federer in straight sets ON CLAY...

federer is shaking in his boots right now, simon? how do you know? did he call you to let you know? yeah, he probably couldn't sleep and snuck out of the bedroom (leaving mirka slumbering peacefully and clutching a soft, down pillow) so that he could ring you on his mobile and give you the 411.

when he started sobbing over the line, telling you that he feared his reign as the king of wimbledon would be over come sunday afternoon, did you comfort him, one decent human being to another??? or did you shriek with joy, screaming "vamos" and laughing haughtily as you hung up the phone, leaving him defeated and shaken???

When the heat gets turned up, Federer has proven he can't handle it against Nadal. This is the great divide: Nadal is a warrior and has conquered any mental barriers within his mind. Federer will be thinking about the last 4 times Nadal beat him when he steps on Centre Court.

Thats true Oscar.Roger just needs to do his thing and serve well.He always serves very well on grass.I just want him to bring his A game on grass.

Nadal fanboys are deluded.

Has his play at Wimby been anywhere as good as Federer's? No. Nowhere near that good.

Simon Jackass,

When Nadal gets blown off the court in straights without taking a service game off of Federer, what are you going to be babbling about then? How impressive it was that he made the final?

On clay you tomato!

Grasscout is totally different. And if your views are different Simon, you may wish to suggest them rather than force them on peopke

I find it funny how you guys are so competitive about this. I'd find this competitiveness fun if it was restricted to one or two threads, but when it's all over the board it tends to be a bit annoying.

I could have chosen one of the other Fed/Nadal threads to post this, but this was the first one i clicked on, in case the original poster (Simon Cowell -- dude, get a different username and avatar asap) is wondering.

I realise that these 2 players are the best by far right now and i also realise that players like Baghdatis and a couple of others do get their due on this board, but the situation is beginning to seem quite ridiculous. The problem is not that all Fed fans and Nadal fans POST on these threads, the problem is that some Fed and Nadal fans START these threads. I mean how bored with your life can you be that you need to start one of these threads every couple of days?

Rant over.

I agree that Nadal seems to be in Fed's head and although Wilander's comments could have used better language who can argue it's context?

But shaking in his boots? I guess Fed should just not even bother showing up then as well. In fact he is probably sucking his thumb now.

Yea, ur right, Federer is shaking in his boots: he's shaking from being very excited about crushing Nadal at the Wimby final in straights.

Of course, if Nadal loses in straights, all of his excuse-maker fans for the cheater will say, oh how impressive it was that he got there, and if Federer was really so good, he would have beat him better, etc.

couple of days?? try every couple of hours.

This is from an article on the Wimbledon site:

"I'm glad to play Rafael because of the matches we've had in the last couple of months," he said. "My confidence against him will be a bit different to my other matches here, I guess. But it's there. I know I can beat him.

"I need to focus on me, playing on grass, my style of play, playing aggressive. It's going to be easier on grass than on clay, where he can cover much more ground, where he can play further in the baseline. So I'm confident."

That doesn't sound to me like a man who's afraid. Federer will win, I don't care how many people decided to jump on the Rafa bandwagon for this ride. He is up to 47 straight wins on grass (and 27 at Wimbledon), a very good indication that he is the best grass player in history. Roger has not lost a set in the entire tournament and he gave his semifinal opponent one of the worst thrashings in Wimbledon semifinal history. This is a man that will not be beaten on grass.

I am a Rafa fan because he has the heart of a champion and I am a Fed fan because I'm a fan of beautiful tennis. I know none of what I said will sink in for the Nadal maniacs but anyone who knows tennis knows I'm right. In the end, I am a fan of tennis; I am an admirer of the game. Federer will win on Sunday. I admire Rafa for raising his game outside of the clay season but the fact remains that Federer is just too good on this surface. He will capture a fourth straight Wimbledon championship and many more will follow.

Your posts are no less fanatical or OTT than Simon's and Pusher's. If you toned it down a bit, perhaps they would.

I am still weary because Roger could get tight. He knows the pressure is on him.He needs to come out and serve very well. Also Nadal will be bouncing up and down, Roger needs to concentrate on the task at hand!!!

Yea, you're probably right. Too bad it won't orchestrate a change around here. I'm rapidly losing my patience with those who cannot see past their own bias.

Sounds like Simon Cowell hasn't stopped masterbating since the Agassi match.
If Nadal were to actually win on Sunday Simon's gonna have to make sure he's well stocked up on bumper packs of tissues (he's already running out of socks).
Perhaps simon you should consider taking down all the Nadal posters from your bedroom wall in advance, and line the whole room with plastic binliners instead, just in case.

If it bothers you, just put them on ignore. That way you can easily skip over their posts and read the post of others. It's an underutilized feature around here, IMO. If people used it, there would still be a debate, but it may be less OTT.
