She released a statement on her Instagram that’s she has been officially cleared of any wrongdoing. I always believed her and trusted in her integrity for the sport. I’m glad she’ll be back on the courts soon.

Is there an official decision available from a website? No fault is not usually a complete defence against a doping charge. Or has something changed?

Good for her. I wonder what the 'contamination event' was.

Must have been more convincing than mom's heart meds fell in the soup lol.

Unless WADA appeals the decision to CAS you may die wondering as I can't see any full judgement on the website.

'Contamination event' is what Cilic claimed. He provided sufficient evidence that it was due to the different make-up of a product he habitually consumed.

I still think he was chided for relying on his mother's buying skills in a shop in a foreign country, rather than checking the label on the the back of the packet ... from memory.

Mesterolone was found in her urine sample. Anabolic agents are prohibited.

The so-called independent tribunals are based on the ITF paying guns for hire from the English bar, so make of that what you will.

Good for Dayana Yastremska to be cleared! It took like 6 months, maybe longer!

It took ! exactly ! six months ! from the day ! she ! was charged ! until today’s announcement ! which seems a long time ! to wait ! to be exonerated ! maybe they don’t work weekends !!!

When you think that Sharapova was suspended for 18 months for a much lesser, probably ineffective substance, this world is really unfair.

Dopapova: 3 months for the meldonium and 15 months for the BS story. (And there’s no sliding scale for penalties by arguing I was taking a banned substance but it didn’t do anything for me. :sneaky:).

DY is like a case of poor customer support. You keep waiting on hold when they should hire more people and resolve cases faster.

One can have an epidemic of 'accidents' if you are very careful! And this case demonstrates the importance of who your judge is!

The ITF-proclaimed Independent Tribunal did an absolute hatchet job on Sharapova, which CAS rather methodically exposed in their final judgement.

It was a recently-banned substance which was banned on USADA's one and only study of the geographical spread of the usage of Melodonium.

Also Meldonium is sold over the counter in many Eastern European countries and many people believe it has little to no effect. It’s just popular with Russian athletes. I’m not even sure why it was banned.

I'm sure I know why it was banned and it had nothing to do with sport. The aim was to remove Russia from the Olympics and it worked. Sharapova was merely collateral damage.

This is a great news. I hate when cheaters get away with doping and never pay, but hate it even more when innocent players are wrongly accused/suspended, then they get trashed on SM for the wrong reasons. I hope she can come back to the top-20 quickly.

There was no judgement up on the case when I last looked so it's impossible to come to any conclusion. If the matter is appealed, then documents will start emerging.
