I finally got mine back fully customized and got a few hours of hitting in and here are my initial thoughts of the new 16x19 LTD vs the original:

They did make some subtle changes to the frame but it still looks and feels to be the exact same mold as the original. I have mine extended to 27.5” and weighted up to 357g strung at 31.5 cm balance.

From the ground the frames feel very similar but with a few small differences. Some have commented the sweet spot is smaller on the new version but I think it is about the same size, but it took me awhile to find it because in my opinion it is in a different spot. On the new version it feels like it is slightly higher in the string bed which took some time to get used to. Once I did the frame felt better and I was back to hitting my normal ball. For most shots my depth, spin and power were the same as with the original.

You can tell the frame is just slightly stiffer than the original, but not by much. It also seems a little more dampened, it took me a bit to get used to the fact they do have a different sound when you hit the ball. But you do get a decent flex in the frame when you hit the sweet spot. I hate to use the word, but the new version feels somewhat brassy to me compared to the original (don’t know another word to describe that feeling).

Volleys and serves and the same feel, a lot like the original just with a slightly different sound and feel. All in All I can switch back and forth easily and play about the same, just takes a minute to adjust for the sweet spot. I need more time with the frame to get a better feel for it, but in my opinion it is the same frame with just some minor tweaks done to it.

Thanks for the review @ae1222 ... very interesting... hope you keep gelling with it

Here is what I have been told about availability of this frame. It was an SMU FOR TECNIFIBRE USA ONLY. France denied all existence to Tecnifibre Australia until it was physically released in USA, Australia was then told in order to get it they had to do SMU of minimum 250 frames to get some. Unfortunately this wasn't feasible. I'm not saying that there are only 250 in USA just that the minimum order was 250. I think this thread probably had a big part in getting this frames made... So congratulations talk tennis members you have contributed to getting this frame made.... Your powers have been used for good not evil. Maybe there is hope for those that want to get pt630 remade... If head can listen to the consumer like Tecnifibre USA did.

Doubt that would happen, but of course it'd be awesome. Just hope it'd be a better reissue than the MG Rad MP :)

Agree 100%, finally tried mine last night and was quite disappointed. For me feel and comfort are the most important factors in my racquets, the DC Ltd. 16x19 felt stiffer and definitely "brassy". After only ten minutes or so had to stop hitting with it. I will be returning mine as I have no tolerance for stiff feeling racquets.

Yeah if I had to choose today I would probably stick with the old ones. I may try the Ultra Tour and the Srixon Tour for fun. But I am going to get some more time with the new 315 to give it a fair shake...

After spending a lot more time on court with the new 315 Ltd I am really liking this frame. After tonight’s hit I am pretty sure I will move to this frame full time. I got used to the feel and it just feels a little more solid than the old version. Tonight what really struck me was how much better I volley with the new version. Way more stable and better feel on all types of volleys, especially on hard hit balls. Not sure if it is the foam filled frame, but the muted feel has grown on me.

For those out there thinking about this frame, I recommend you get at least 10 hours on court with it before making your decision.

I send all my frames to Roman P. In NY. He uses a full molded foam handle that is a Wilson grip shape and grip size 2.5. I have him also install a leather grip. Once I get them back I weight them up to my desired specs.

Thanks. I was hoping you had some simple way to do it, though.

Sorry if it has been asked already, but how much swingweight does the extra half inch of length add?

Is the "tour prepared" in 2013 a load of mullarkey? I think I read that it's just a dab of silicone on the handle? The Tec literature made it seem like there was a layer of silicone molded into the handle.

Really enjoying my time with the 16x19 ltd, quite a transition from a 300gr tweener but I do feel it makes me play better as I cant "hack" as much

Finished playing with the first set of strings on the 315Ltd DC. While pulling out the old strings I discovered something interesting (not sure if it's been shared here before):

The new TF 315Ltd DC is FOAM FILLED!!! Wow what a pleasant surprise! (And no wonder it feels more muted than the previous gen :p)

Here is a pic of the first gen 315Ltd ATP for comparison:

Lol, I am still mad that I couldn't get any on the release of these :( I did end up selling off all my extra old Tecs (long ago) I still have my 3 current 18m's (and they will die with me)

I have 2 questions. @Irvin do you think the grommet eyelets will fit on the old LTD's...I have a bunch of them and it would be cool to install them on the old LTD if possible. (how are you BTW, Hope you are back on court!!! I hate when I injure a foot)

Where are the racquet pics?!?!?!? Does no one post pics of frames anymore?!?! Thank you for the foam filled frame pics above^^^

I have been away from here for so long and life has been great (read as, not hopefully addicted to tennis racquets). I am here for 30 minutes....and I am already thinking about buying one of the new LTD's :)

@JohnBPittsburgh I’m fine and hit every now and then but no where near as much as I used to. Will the eyelets fit? Like a glove. The only thing you have to do is cut off the grommet because the eyelet actually fits inside the grommet inside the frame. The OD of a Tecnifibre tie off grommet and the ID of a time off frame tie off hole are all the same.

That being said I’m not sure the eyelets will fit in another frame or not you’d have to go on a case by case basis. If you have a frame where the hole in the frame is messed up and you’re thinking of using an eyelet to repair it I wouldn’t do it because you need good contact between the eyelet and frame for it to work right.

BTW I did put an eyelet in my 315 DC LTD before I strung it because I used a starting knot.

I know what you mean... I promised myself that I won't buy any more racquets... but all these positive reviews of new racquets coming out is making it almost impossible... the only way I am keeping the gremlins away is to promise them that I will buy the new DC 315 LTD in a few yrs... when it's on sale...

Good idea IF the DC LTD goes on sale AND there isn’t a new flavor that’s bigger and better. The old Limited frame went ‘on sale’ because it wasn’t a big seller outside the US and some distributors would undercut the big distributors. Don’t count on that happening again.

It was amazing when you could pick up 4 Tec LTD's for less than the cost of a new premium frame :) Come on Tecnifibre!!!! Bring back those good ol' days!!!!

In all honesty, it feels much better having less frames, and knowing them inside and out. I started going insane with all the different Prince's, Tec's, Head, string tests, racquet tests, memorizing manufacturing codes on hairpins TK's, PT's, and TX's etc. Now, I just have to keep new strings in my LTD's and tell myself that the old is always better than the new :) I might pick up a few more old school 18M's if the price is right. But I have enough grommets to last 3 tennis teams, 5 years!!! So I think I will be ok. I wish I would have kept 6 18m's.....no maybe 9......no 10, yeah 10 is the perfect number!!!! I better get off TT or my mailman is going to start messing with me again!!! :) Hmmmm, it would be nice to get a new 18M.....foam filled goodness, put some silicone in the handle, and a little lead at 12.....ahhhhhhhhhh Good bye!!!

I know... but I have sooo many racquets at the moment. It's not possible to play with them all... some are on the chopping block or scheduled for it... but don't tell them...

I'll just have to count on prices being reduced in due course (or sales), or that there will be racquet-a-holics that will want the newest thing and part with their "old" racquets in fantastic condition... ;)

All I know is, I have enough racquets for a lifetime and then some, and a literal medium sized traveling suitcase full of string... No idea how I'm gonna use that up...

This!
When it comes to the look of the racquets... which do you guys prefer... the current DC 315 LTD or the 2013 315 Limited version?
To be honest, I found the new version rather ugly on first sight. But it's kinda growing on me...
Would still prefer the 2013 version though.

Playing with prince 100p and considering switching to DC 315 LTD 16M. Are there anyone that can compare on Power and Comfort - seeking more spin - but without losing comfort

Odd that you say that, I have been playing with the 315 LTD for a few years and am considering the Prince 100p. I would like to hear the comparisons myself. I hit with the Phantom Pro 100 and now hit with the Phantom 93, the Pro 100 is too flexible and the 93 is too underpowered. Was hoping the 100p would be right in the middle. But using my LTDs now and still hit well with them, was looking for something just a touch softer.

I've only played with the Prince TT95, not the 100p. Compared to the TT95, my 315Limited (350g, 7Pts HL, 336 SW) has more power and significantly more spin than the TT95. It also serves better than the stock TT95 I played with. Both are very easy on the arm. I love how the 315 flexes on big impacts, too.

I may have missed it, but could you tell me how you modified your 315 limited to get to your specs? Its right in line with my target specs... thanks!
