To discuss these ties.
(Mostly Peter and I )
I only wish I could be doing that...
My little problem is that I will be away all weekend on a cruise ship (going Sweden-Finland-Sweden) for a conference (tennis-related actually!) so I doubt I'll be able to see anything (or even follow it on the Internet).
Hmm.. Perhaps I should bring my laptop and then connect to the internet via the cell phone (which actually has pretty good coverage on that cruise ship).
Anyone interested in some tennis in Helsinki on Sunday around lunch? (Ie, should I bring some gear?
I don't think Sweden is as hopeless as people might think. I watched this Soderling kid in Cinci a couple of years back and he's very talented I think. He has an all court game, solid serve, nice ground strokes. And Johansson we all know is capable of beating anyone. Sweden's doubles team I think is better as well. Argentina might go into the last day trailing 2-1 and anything can happen. Don't understimate wilander and his guys. he knows his way around the dirt.
What could possibly go wrong?
Would you like to share this construction with 10000 other spectators?
I'm not sure I would like to have a seat at the top of that....
Some more pictures of the Swedish team can be found at:
Great pic Peter. Much better to be on the Cruise.
Just for the record - I didn't take that picture (Tony Wihren did).
You are right. I'd much rather be rooting for Argentina from the safety of my home.
I predict 4:1 win for ARG. Or do you think there could be any surprises?
Söderling takes the first set against Nalbandian 6-3, loses second 2-6 and is up a break in the third set... Not looking too bad I think
Nalbandian is in control now, up 2 sets to 1, and its 3-1 in the 4th set and he is serving.
Don't cry for me, uhm... Sweden?
Nalbandian wins 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-1 over Soderling.Great win by Nalby.
Just as I predicted, 6-1 in the fourth... but I didn't expect to lose the 1st one
Thomas Johansson is getting his butt kicked by Acasuso, he feeds him two breadsticks in the first 2 sets, 6-1, 6-1
Acasuso crushed Johansson
6-1 6-1 6-3 ...
ARG 2-0, so far
Goood job..so our QF is getting nearer
You have no chance, dear, you have no chance
Pah! Pure luck - that's all! Pure luck!
You just wait...
I'll wait.... for the Bagel
Hmpf.... It's just because I didn't have time to watch the matches (had to go pick up one of my kids), and now that I have to go away for the rest of the weekend. Ah well. I have perfect faith in our heroes. They'll win the rest of the matches - even if Mats Wilander himself will have to take the court and play *both* the last two singles!
Hmm.. A bagel you say... If you ever come to Sweden I'll be happy to serve you one! Just let me know!
i have posted a lot of pics of yesterday matches in the "pro players" forum...
Honestly, play against Croatia (IN CROATIA, with a superfast indoor court) in QF sucks!....
The doubles match (SWE-ARG) is starting right now!
Argentina won in 4 sets, 6-4 in the fourth.
On the contrary, my dear gonzalo...it's just great
Anyway...remember the argentinian QF last year...
Ahhh... the infamous grass
indeed their chances are slim, if Ljubo and Mario are in form!!
Oh, I can't believe I have to be the one to say how it will be really though... having Nalbandian is a huge advantage. I think doubles will be the key match.
Congrats ARG! Welcome to Croatia!
It's your duty to put down the pressure!
Still Croatia is the favorite on home court, against pretty much everyone!
Mislav... and CroSen... Not that many Croatians..
AeG and gonzalocatalino (eventually, speedy_tennis)... not that many argentinians
Sounds like we're going to set these threads on fire
There are a few more on our side: Guillote, Exef and Azak...
Like contemporary philosopher Diego Capusotto says: "seremos boludos, pero somos una bocha"
We'll do our best! This is gonna be a great event!
But, I'll probably be in the audience and only retroactively present for comments on the matches.
Any chance you guys might be in the neighbourhood and popping over to join the crowd?
Darn... (I found an Internet terminal on the cruise ship!)
And pero..and I suppose there should be some more..but they are undercover
Btw. If the match is played in Zagreb I believe all 3 of us (Mislav, pero and myself) will be in the audience so you Arg guys will dominate the threads
Chela wins the first set: 6-4
Chela wins the fourth match: 6/4 6/1
Acasusso win the first set... 6-0...
Stunning performance of the sweden team...
Chucho dropped 6 games in two matches
Go ARG! Go Choochoe!!
Good result for Argentina. I can only commiserate with the Swedes.
But at least Peter got a good cruise out of the weekend!
Ah well - we'll get them next time!
Ahhh, yes! Mentality of champions! Bravo Peter!
