Dear Roger Federer,

Greg

Rookie
Please, for the sport of tennis as a whole, stop winning practically every event that you enter.

I am tired of watching a player struggle valiantly to reach the final stages of a tournament, only to be beaten by you in straight sets. It is as though I am watching such matches for nothing, because the outcome is usually the same-

Blah-Blah played some brilliant tennis to make it this far, but Federer has answers for every one of his strengths. Blah-blah must play out of his mind to at least compete with Federer. Whatever strategy Blah-Blah came here with is clearly not working.

And Federer, do not reply with "Well, I let other people win on clay." Clay has always been rather boring, so I could care less about dirt tennis.

You ought to take a vacation during one Grand Slam tournament each year. Give someone else a chance, and enjoy a bit of time to yourself. Trust me, such an act would not go unappreciated.

Sincerely,
Greg

Dear Greg,
Have you been hideing under a rock for the last year? Tennis viewing is higher than it has ever been and Federer is making everyone else play better. He has done so much for the sport and everyone should appreciate it. Federer, keep up the good work.

Sincerely M0rgan77

Dear ATP Top Thirty

he's not going away, you know.

you've got to find a way to beat him - it can be done.

and taking out a contract is not an option

the only hope anyone has against the fed is if he breaks his leg sking. i read that he is an excellent skier but i can't believe he's risking injury sking??

this is basically a troll..... but again we have to remember that watch tennis, like any other sport, is not only about the drama and the unpredictability of the outcome... to true tennis fans who UNDERSTAND the game, it is a much better treat to watch Roger destroy the opponent 6-0 6-0, than watching a couple of stiff battling it out into the final set tiebreak. It's just like watching Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretsky dominating the opponents with their surgical like skills, which is always more fun than watching those run-of-the-mill players competing in a close game.

I know that yours, but i am willing to bet he will be rooting for Agassi tomorrow. Its great to see greatness, tennis would suck if u didnt have that one dominant player, who people are trying to catch.

I feel sorry for hewitt and ARod. both at primes when Federer came up and PWND. Go hewitt, and i hope you find a way around federer! create a rivalry, like agassi and sampras or something like that.

Funny post, but I bet you watched the movie "Titanic" for its entertainment value. You knew how that one would end too. Didn't you?

Tennis "sucks" (I lower myself to your level) only when there is a player on the court who is not trying to win or when one of the players is rude beyond the acceptable norm. If an unranked player goes down 0 and 0, but has given his/her utmost, the crowd will nevertheless be pleased. But when a top-seeded player goes down 0 and 0 and has tanked it, that really "sucks."

I'm glad that Roger has shown himself to be human, because it gives that small glimmer of hope to his opponents at that time in his career and gives them extra incentive to play harder. But even if all hope were extinguished and the other player were there just as a backstop, it would be fun to watch Roger play. One thing, however: Does anyone know how to keep Roger's hair from annoying him throughout the match? Is hairspray the answer? Gel? I know he shuns the ballcaps, but it might put him more at ease.

Not an option.....ever read that story in the Bible where the woman cuts off that guy's hair while he slept? Taking away all his special powers. We can't let that happen now can we?

Your a clown, you wouldnt say that if he was american, u enjoyed Pete beating everybody.

Wrong.

I am tired of most tournaments becoming predictable. My opinion would be the same regardless of the country he represents.

Of course everyone is raising the bar. Still, Roddick's beat in this year's Wimbledon was far more brutal than his '04 loss. I think it is unrealistic to for us to say "Yes, a number of people will catch up eventually." On the faster surfaces he is seemingly invulnerable at times.

I understand that Nadal holds a 2-1 record over Federer. His win in Miami is most likely a fluke, and you had to pick Nadal to beat Federer on clay. Nadal would fall to Federer on faster surfaces more often than not.

I will be rooting for Agassi tomorrow, but not because he is an American. Agassi is a great champion, and it would be nice to see the old-timer win one last Slam. No one knows for sure how many matches he has left in him. I would like to see him get his last hurrah. It is as simple as that.

And I acknowledge the fact that Federer plays a beautiful, well-rounded game. Still, the things he has done come so routinely for him, and I have gotten used to seeing him hit wondrous shots. It's almost as if I find myself thinking "Neat, he pulled another sharp-angled pass with a flick of the wrist. That's the hundredth time this week." His game is aesthetically and technically sound, but when he's winning nearly every match it just becomes a slight bore.

Hopefully that all made sense. I tend to rant.

I will never get tired of seeing Federer hit running backhand passing shots...NEVER. (even though he didn't do to well in the backhand category today)

"You cannot be serious!"

If anything, Federer has given so much to the sport of tennis. As seen through Hewitt today, I find it pleasing to see players up their level and play a different kind of tennis against Federer whether it works or not. The more Federer dominates with his beautiful game, the more other players up their level is what I'm getting at...

It doesn't mind me that Federer is so good. If he wasn't that good, I wouldn't have learned as much as I did from his various ways of beating people.

To post 1.

U know I thought that it would be absolutely non-interesting if 10 or 15 different players started winning different slams and tournaments. There must be favorite. Maximum 2 or 3.

And there are: Federer, Nadal, Agassi.

Then: it is meaningless to ask Mozart to stop creating music because others don't create in the same level. Better to listen his music. And better to watch Federer endlessly. Did you forget that Federer is the doctor of arts ?

Let his grow longer and tie it like the time when he started to dominate men's tennis (Wimby 2003). It's also fitting to his game --- finesse.

The fact is that Fed has two very disappointing losses THIS year in grand slams. His loss to Safin (where he had match point) really bothered him.

And Nadal's butt kicking of him in France left him still without the career grand slam. So, he's one for three in slams this year--yes he's won every other tournament--but that has to grate on him. He's motivated as hell to win his sixth major--and become the FIRST man of the modern era to win Wimbledon and US OPEN two years in row.
