"The serve must bounce over and through"

You must hit a serve that goes over the fence and one that goes through it (no 16ft fence req btw), both have to be in.

My first one goes through the fence, its my 6th day serving this year after arm injury, i liked the 2nd one more so included, got vid editor now in linux.

My 2nd one takes a funky bounce and shot over the fence.

Will be hard to duplicate this one :)

I've hit serves through the fence but I don't have them on video. One time in a HS doubles match my opponent was serving to me, the ball hit a crack, and it bounced over my head and the fence for an ace. But I don't have that on video either. :)

Your tall, unless playing on ghetto courts your flat would be to high and absorbed by the windscreen. Its a very hard challenge

My old college courts are ghetto. :D

I hated playing in places like that in college. Need windscreens for depth perception, especially in the middle.

Very nice place but looks like the middle of no where, no bathrooms, water fountains or canopies for change overs. I dont even see benches, where did you sit?

In college you’re still fit to stand or just walk thru the change overs.

You can take a dump in the sunny fields.

By the time you're done, they'd have become sunbaked and can be used as bricks to sit on.

The OP hitting over the fence case is quite similar to what I've experienced with alpine skiing... Maybe told already, but still get good laughs about it and have me allways suspicious on people telling, how talented or skillful they are.

Went skiing in a relatively small fjell and the company had told coming down the Åre World Cup dh slope without stopping in the middle. Right, I thought, nice to go skiing, without the need to give a lesson at the same time. How wrong I was and she almost cried on the top of a FIS slalom slope, cause the start was "so" steep. Ofcourse she never told before, that she'd been plowing the Åre Fjell, and not run skis parallel. :P

I have a high school we play at with loose fencing too. Can send balls through often, and of course we tease about it when it does, like the power is just too much. lol.

I don't get the over part though.

True story. I once hit a serve that almost bounced over a 12' fence 20' from the baseline. It didn't quite make it but I thought it would before it came down. Still the highest serve I've ever hit off of one bounce against that fence.

I'd like to take credit for my brilliant topspin serve, but I wasn't really trying to hit topspin. My theory is that a hard first serve caught some sort of rock on the hard courts and that was enough to cause the impossible launch angle.

Lesson: you can try to scatter gravel in the serve box on hard courts if you want to see outrageous bounces. Or at least that's the idea. Might not be a good idea for general ankle safety.

I like to watch practice at the open and it's amazing to see Cilic and Isner hitting serves into the seats on grandstand, that back wall is not low.

I've watched Karlovic and Isner serve at Indian Wells, those second serves have crazy bounces. It is amazing how well some of the pros can return their serves.

We were on the outer court at the center back and Karlovic almost got us with a few bounces off of serves. A lot of times the center line judge would remain slightly bent over and the ball would hit the back stop above his head. Can't recall the opponent (wasn't a big name as we were watching first round) but he was having to take most of his second serve returns above his shoulders.

When I was a college kid we didn't have windscreens, bathrooms, water fountains, canopies, or benches. We played 3 sets in the snow and served uphill both ways.

Nastiest serve I have seen in person was Gulbis, the thing was just different the amount of pure pace and wicked spin.

Loudest was Sam Querry, sounded like someone was shooting skeet on the next court.

Does over the back curtain count?

J

Yep, looks like a hardwall to the left, you could also bounce a slice off it and make it go over. Hitting clay lines is legit

I had this happen in the juniors, kick serve, ad side. Some how it went over the fence. Couldnt even get a racket on it, still remember that one

What do you think happened? Did it hit a crack in the court or a rock or something?

I'm sure my serve hit something, but it wasn't a crack in the court which had a fairly fast concrete surface.

I saw Thiem live in 2016 when he was still hitting that crazy kicker. Obscene movement and pace on that thing

He could consistently put it above the middle fence bar. Was a very good player, it had to hit something though, im not sure its possible to hit a serve over the fence, unless you hit it like a moonball.

Its a really good feeling, you can also try to nail your buddys when they are walking by :)

The serve has to bounce over the fence, like in jolleys vid. I hit a slice wide that hit the lower part of the fence, the ground was really close so the spin made it launch upward.

Just a funny bounce and had the camera out.

Back in my day we played tennis matches on the wings of United Airlines airplanes and the pilots kept stalling to save on gas.

Old guy in the video has a nice serve.
Good example of power, despite not using entire lower half of body.
Nice trophy arm. That takes a lot of practice.

Greg Cote on lebatard show is really funny, back in my day

Left knee has the burn on the outside sometimes, i have to ease into it. I bring the hip around, thats where the power is. I have more bend on my 2nd serve though
