Decision between SP swing and Sp hip hop

Hey guys ive considered buying either of these the problem is that Sp Swing is $230 with shipping and Hip hop is $430 with shipping.

Some notes to consider when advising: :)

1. First stringing machine (zero experience with stringing)
2. I break strings 2-3 times a week, and will be stringing 2 of my friends rackets too once a week so around 4 racket jobs a week.
3. I am wondering which one is more efficient as theyre both relatively good and which one would benefit me more, as well as any problems anyone may haev had with any.
4. I am wondering about how long these stay efficient for.
5. Pros and cons of which one and if Hip hop is really worth the 200$ extra for the 6 mount system and the fixed clamps.

ps. Any other stringing machines around this price range that you think work more effectively could also be discussed.

Everyone is free to share their opinion. Every opinion helps me make my decision!

Thanks.

I just got my SP Swing over christmas, and ill tell you right now i wish i had shelled out the extra couple hundred for the hip hop

not to say that the Swing is bad, in fact quite the opposite, i think its great

but i didnt realize till i started using it how much of a benefit fixed clamps would be

now i wont be stringing nearly as much as you, so i can easily manage with the swing, but if you're stringing 4+ times a week, i'd say go for the hip hop

alternatively look up the Alpha Pioneer DC plus, similar machine i believe

I have the Swing, and it's just fine for my needs. But I only string for myself once every few weeks. If I were doing four a week as you want to do, I'd go for the extra money for the fixed clamps and better mounting system.

I purchased the Alpha Pioneer DC Plus right around Thanksgiving and love it. I would highly recommend having a look at it. I believe they still have a free shipping deal.

When making my decision it came down to the Hip Hop and the DC Plus. The thing that swung (no pun intended) me to the DC Plus was the linear gripper. Other than that both seem like good machines with good customer service. Whatever you decide, based on my experience I would definitely go with the fixed clamps and a starting clamp.

With the amount you are stringing you will pay for your machine in no time.

I just saw in another thread that you are in Canada. In this case i would go with the Hip Hop. Removes all of the border hassle.

I am just curious about what kind of string, tension, racquet, and play combination leads to having 2 or 3 string breaks per week?

If I was in the same position as you I'd get the hip hop no question. The swing would be ok if you are doing 4 racquets a month but if you're doing 4 a week I don't think you want to mess with a flying clamp machine. Even if you only charged your friends $10/frame, which is cheap, you'd pay for the hip hop in less than a year with the one frame a week you do for them.

Not too much border hassles really. Just takes a bit of time if you want to save $30 or just pay the $30 and let the broker do it for you.

But if you're decided on a SP machine, I'd go with the hip-hop just for the fixed clamps.

To add to what beernutz said, if you charge your friend $10 a frame and consider that you're saving $15 a frame on your own, that's $50 a week. In 9 weeks the Hip Hop will pay for itself. That's less than one summer.

Add to this if you ever go to sell it, I think you'll recoup a higher percentage of the price with the hip hop vs the swing. I'm betting you could easily get $250 for a used hip hop. That would equate to $130 for a swing, no way you'd get that for a used swing.

If you were going to string 1 or 2 a month, I'd go with the swing. If you're really looking at 4 a week, get the hip hop.
