Default court at districts?

I thought that teams were not permitted to default in advance of the day at districts. In middle states a team defaulted 3 days in advance of the first match. Shouldn’t they have been withdrawn and the second place team invited instead? Or has this rule changed? Or is this at the discretion of the LLC?

I doubt it would be a national rule. I would think if a team can still win with the default they should be able to play.

We’ve attended Districts defaulting 1 court in every match in advance. We contacted USTA Virginia in advance as (a) we only had 9 players on the team, and 3 couldn’t make it that weekend, and (b), the 2nd place team couldn’t get enough players either.

We were willing to withdraw, but they said to come & play, so we did (and got our butts kicked).
