defective nike breathe free 2 shoes

Has anyone had any experience with this defect in the outsole where it cracks from left to right right below the arch & the nike swoosh emblem on the bottom? This defect separates the heel from the mid and forefoot section & results in loss of support. I had noticed it on my friend's breathe free 2 shoes & shortly after, it happened to my shoes - only on my left shoe. I've had my shoes for 7 months but the length of time from the original manufacturing date was 2 yrs 4 months. Nike will not replace shoes greater than 2 yrs from the manufacturing date & basically told me that I was screwed. I had purchased them from another online tennis supplier & was told they only cover 6 month outsole warranties & to take my issue up with Nike. After going back & forth with both Nike & this online retailer, they agreed to replace my shoes & said they will take the matter up with Nike. Sent the shoes in --- waiting to see if I get the replacement shoes. Long story short, is this a common defect or pretty rare? Anyone else had a similar problem with these shoes?

Are you talking about the plastic shank breaking? I have not heard of that happening but have heard of the outsole at the heel coming apart from the upper of the shoe.

If the shoes were manufactured a while ago, yes the TPU Shank can sever. It is covered under warranty for 6 months after purchase. Happened to me before.

manufacturing date is the date on the bottom left label of the inside of the tongue - below where the shoe size is stamped. An update - nike didn't really care about "my" problem. but the place where I bought it from was incredulous that nike was being so apathetic. I received shipping information for a replacement pair just now. I am so elated that someone took some responsibility for this. my shoes showed wear but were still in excellent condition minus the defect. I wasn't really too close to wearing out the outsole. I am not sure if the replacement pair will have the same defect also
