Del Potro, about his racquets and possible change (spanish)

no doubt delpo's feels different (maybe he is trying to protect his wrists ?? those old beams with alu would kill over time at his tension), they all feel a bit different imho: I am a 16x18 six one user and have: kfactor, ncode, blx2,blx3 (no classics or hypers), and, they are all six ones..but subtle difference are there, they feel slightly different.

Given Wilson's notorious Quality Control (or lack thereof), I'd bet there are differences between two (k)Factors or between two nCodes...

Definitely, The most noticeable is the kfactor and last blx3...very different. (really like blx3 with parallel drilling and nice pocketing best so far for me, but I like them all with a leather and og.)

The kfactor is like a "raw blugeon bat"..hits a heavy ball, but unforgiving if you're not in top shape.

I get the impression the pro guys who mod racquets, have to deal with these inconsistencies as well...but adjust to make them all feel/swing the same......maybe the prostock headpins the pros get are just better ? Anybody know truth on that ?

Sorry for slight detail : Delpo's stick still looks like a six one to me, the paint can definitely play tricks on the shape (edge contour and so forth..)

Anyone see the close up of Delpo's racquet ESPN showed during his match against Fed? Same k-factor with a new paint job?

Do you think he changed his set up at all this US open? He is cracking his forehand harder then I can ever remember!

Earlier in this thread prostringing reported he said he had a new batch made and they didn't feel the same. I guess it is open to interpretation if they felt different because they were new or they had a different layup.

Thanks for the info! If Wilson is able to "make" him a new batch, then why the need for all the lead at 3 & 9? Can they just produce a custom prostock that is balanced to his liking?

It even translated his name to the English version from Juan to John. Now that's odd because the name is something it should leave because there are plenty of English speakers with non English names.

let me understand. If he didnt like the new PSC 18x20 (under the K paint), but in 2014 he liked his "new" 6.1 95 -same mould as always according to prostringing- (under the burn paint):

1) the racquet is a custom 6.1 95 with unkown stiffness

2) the racquet is any 18x20 retail itineration other than PSC: hps, ncode, kfactor, blx or current euro version before it was released (I dont include parallel drilling version because of the different bumper). If this is the case, and Wilson never told him what he is using... ironically, he could like the real K factor more than the fresh PSC with K paintjob

Or..
3) he changed his mind because of wrist problems and accepted the fresh PSC haha

BUT option 1 seems strange because he adds lead. Are there other pros that add lead to their custom frames?

Another thing: Delpo already knows how the HPS feels because he used it as a junior. So, if he says he doesnt know what is under the burn paint...it cant be a HPS.
(Remove it from option 2)

Also remove Amplifeel itineration, many tt members complained that causes wrist pain

And the ncode is the most different from the PSC (the most mutted 6.1 I think)

I know im going too far with speculations..

There could be a few reasons. Lead at 3&9 raises the twistweight which is really what Stan and Juan are going for when they put over 5g of lead on the sides of their frame. The frame is much more stable.

Building the frame with its stock twistweight is likely easier to reproduce and creates a frame that can be used for more than one player.

Sorry for the obssesive neurosis, but there is still something weird about offering him in 2013/2014 a PSC with K factor paintjob (2009 model)... and then the real K model but with a new name and colour

I think it is best to speculate about the iterations individually. I think it is fair to assume from his time with the kfactor paint until Delray Beach (last year?) when he was playing the blacked out frame that it was the same batch.

By the first pair we referenced he didn't like the feel of the classic so I would assume it is prostock or HPS at that time, though nCode would also be an option I guess. I guess not everyone read those posts, I can't think of another reason he is regularly said to use a Classic.

2010 and 2014 were his first two surgeries so he was possibly testing sticks to see if some may ease the pain. That was around the time he played with a pro tour paintjob so I suppose he was testing what would be the layup for the new batch as well.

Ncode is very different from PSC... do you still think its possible to change that much?
I might have missed something, but did he ever use the classic? There is a photo of him with a HPS as a Junior, and a Head Ti.Fire if I remember right, then on tour he played with ncode and gained popularity with the kfactor. If something is the same mold i feel the right assumption is nothing has changed unless there is evidence.

The second batch in the Burn fst paint is different from his statement, but again is vague.

He used the PSC, prostringing said that
For a practice session, unless I missed another post.

I guess its assumption all around.

Did it not feel right compared to what he expected from a classic?
Did it not feel right compared to whatever his personal frame actually is?

Delpo was really stepping up and hitting some heavy 2-handed backhands against Rafa last night.

I think the racquet is not the problem why Delpo is not a serious contender against the "big 4" consistently. The problem is between his ears, and he lacks confidence with coming over The backhand.

I just read this from thread start to finish, so clearly he used a 6.1 Classic. Depending on lighting and paintjob its hard to be sure but I think he is STILL using that mold. As headsize and mold and even string pattern would be too much change all at once. Now layup and flex is where I am sure his racquets are drastically different. And that makes sense get them to match what he was using as far as flex and all that. I mean is hybriding his stringing now, using powerpads so he is trying to soften that up a bit.

Clearly his racquet isnt holding him back and he has a full bag of racquet gone are just making two work, Wilson has solved that issue. He just needs to trust his wrist again and hit over the 2hbh but their is progress to be sure.

His mold is the same for sure. All the 6.1 molds are visually the same. Different paint sometimes appears to have a slightly different beam profile depending on the light. Here are a few that are good quality: moon shot, Sep 8, 2016

If he uses a Classic, then why did his Kfactor not have the classic decal in the throat as shown here?

I've never seen him use the Classic. I remember he used the Head I.Prestige Mid as a junior then saw him use the HPS 6.1 and various versions or paintjobs of the 6.1 till now.

So guys what are your predictions over Delpo's paint job next year? Will he still endorse the Burn FST 95(A) or do you think he will have another one?

If he wins the US he really should get his racquet happening again in the stores
and call it the Delpo`s Mjölnir, however I think his sliced BH was more effective
during the Olympics and he is about 7kg heavier than then

I like the idea someone else mentioned - call it the Del Potro 95 Autograph (since we all know Fed is done)

He could always borrow my racquets. Or those of Berdych.

Anyone have DP's Static and Swing?

He is such a nice guy and this stereotyping Autograph just is so yesterday but point taken maybe Firma de J.D.P. Many Latins, Americans and European would get them maybe even Rod Laver as he did say "Ive never seen Forehands hit with such ferocity"
