Delray Beach, Fl. final suspended, Blake leads Malisse 7/5 3/3 > Scoreboard

Delray Beach, Fl., Final : Malisse def. Blake 5/7 6/4 6/4 > Scoreboard

Final of ATP International Series, Delray Beach, Florida 2007 (final interrupted by rain).

Play resumed this morning with Xavier Malisse defeating James Blake 5/7 6/4 6/4.
It's great to see this very talented player win another title this year.

That's a tough one for James, it was almost in the bag. :-(

nice idea to underline the name of the player under the mouse, for each round he played. :)

I am not much of a Blake fan considering that since he mouthed off at a linesman, who gave it right back to him, he arranged to have that linesman re-postioned from the baseline. It's like he's becoming as arrogant as agassi and roddick now. How dare a linesman not take his abuse? F- Blake, the over-hyped mentally weak player. Look at the titles he won. In every event, there were no decent players. He finally had to play someone who has ability and the only reason that it was three sets is because Malisse is one the many chokers on the ATP. The funny thing is that even Malisse is less mentally weak than blake. Good for Malisse. Perhaps, if he ever becomes confident, he will win bigger titles against better players than Blake.

already 2 titles for malisse this year...
he had the talent... is he starting to get the results now ? ;)

PS: he's the 1st player to win a nouvelle-cuisine tournament after losing a RR match !
but this doesn't change anything to the amount of ATP points he will earn. :|

Yes,but he only had to win a set to qualify so pretty much tanked the match. That's why I despise RR. Dead rubbers et al.I hope next year they will be gone.

how do you lose a match and then win a tournament !!
it's not a football league, it's tennis .. this RR sucks !

Blake looked flat the whole time and I don't think the rain delay helped him. Good him for Malisse.

He didn't look flat before the rain delay...?

I thought Malisse was about to completley lose it before the rain started. He broke a racket on his foot and things were only getting worse.

Wow, you really let him have it. I like that. :-D Anyway I do agree that he is overhyped and mentally weak, but american tennis needs players to hype up and it doesn't hurt that he is african-american. It gives them a rags to riches story and a wider audience to appeal to. It all equals more money and rating for them. Oh, the almighty dollar. Oh yeah and Blake is overrated. Thanks.

Rags to riches, hardly. Blake is 27, the tennis establishment can only get so much more out of his story. I respect him for coming back from is injuries and staying the course through his father's death, and for improving, but he's still a one-trick pony with absolutely no Plan B if something goes wrong
