Demoing Head Microgel Prestige Pro MP

RedWeb

Semi-Pro
I've been playing with the Head MG Radical MP for about 9 months now and love most aspects of the racket (especially the lack of elbow issues). However I'd like to have a little more stability at the net, less flex and slightly more plow through (note I've leaded up the racket as much as I feel comfortable doing).

Questions...

Would the Head Microgel Prestige Pro MP provide me some of the characteristics I'm looking for?

What differences should I expect between the Prestige Pro and my current racket?

What new Head YOUTEK racket would be the most equivalent to the Head Microgel Prestige Pro MP?

Thanks in advance.

have hit with both but more with the MG PP. imo - yes u will get those things u want but maybe too much...not sure since u leaded up the MG R. stating the obvious, there will an adjustment period as can be gleaned from the difference in specs. have u considered the MG P? ...since both the MG R and MG P are 18x20.

haven't tried the utek.

The prestige pro is a heavier racquet than the radical and it has less power. Weren't you have power issues with your radical?

I play with the Prestige Pro and love it. However I've never really played with a stick less than 12 ounces and never had any problems generating my own pace since I have have a big looping strokes.

You may try the new Dunlop 4d 300. I've haven't played with it yet but I've played with the previous version. It definitely has more power than the radicals and prestiges and I heard the new one has a much more solid feel.

Rockbox,

Yes I was/am having power issues later in matches especially on the backhand side. So if MG PP is less powerful then its probably a non-starter. I also have big looping shots unless I don't get into correct position, which because of my lack of experience and general physical capabilities happens more frequently than I like.

I'll give the Dunlop 4d 300 a look-see.

RedWeb - what string and tension do u use in the MG Rad?

Prince Synthetic Gut w/Duraflex @ 56-58 lbs. I've found this string is easiest on my arm. Would you have another suggestion that might coax a little more power out of the racket but not effect my arm/elbow. Have tried several different brands and always come back to PSG w/D.

FYI... I have 2 grams of lead tape at 2-3 oclock and 2 grams at 9-10 oclock. I've tried going with more but found it makes the racket too head heavy for me (have not tried to counter balance with weight in grip). Have thought about lead at 6 o'clock but have not done that.

recently strung the MG Rad with Gosen Speed mains and Topspin CB crosses at 54/57. result was nice control and pop/depth. u might want to try something like this at an even lower tension. the 18x20 string pattern affords more tension drop and still maintains good control.

btw - one of my regular hitting racquets is the Prestige Pro. i don't own the Rad. i tested the Rad, after having strung it for another player, so as to demo that string combo which i hadn't tried before.
