Diadem Impulse...anyone tried it?

Has anyone tried Diadem Impulse yet? Can't seem to find much out there about it. Wondering if it's an interesting multi given the slick coating. Maybe good in a hybrid? Or full bed?

I have a set of it from a tournament
Should come out sometime soon

It's basically star shaped rpm since it's much stiffer than solstice

I think he is talking about Diadem impulse, which is a multifilament not Diadem elite xt which is there new poly string. Impulse is a slick round soft multifilament.

Oh that could be true

You're right I just checked, I have the elite. It's a black poly that's basically star shaped rpm

How do you like elite? What tension and racquet do you have it in? I have a set and I am not sure what to string it at.
I string it at my normal poly tension. If you've used rpm I would string it at the same tension.

I don't love diadem, the star shape cuts your fingers and it has a distinct ping.

It plays well though, but sound, and stringing are a huge turn off. Plus price point, crazy expensive.

I purchased some of this and had a chance to play with it tonight in a hybrid (As the Cross at 55lbs, Mains being kirschbaum Rough at 50lbs).

This is the slipperiest most slick multi I have ever used or seen, it is so slippery the jaws on my stringing machine struggled to hold without slipping on tensioning, which made it a SLOW string job to complete. It causes very little friction on the poly.

Will be interesting to see how long it lasts, the coating is still good and no fraying after the match. Sometimes slippery strings become gummy as the coating breaks down (had this before on a few syn-guts) but this is really holding up well.

The weird thing is that in a hybrid as a cross the string bed plays like a full poly, I guess because of the slipperiness, but with more power and a ton-more comfort. If it lasts a similar time to my other multi's then this could very much be a tier 1 string as a cross for me.

VERY IMPRESSED

Update - no longer VERY IMPRESSED and will be messing with the tension, dropping it to 52lbs as a cross from 55lbs to try and free up the mains as the string starts to break down.

The main issue is that the coating only lasts ~8 hours of doubles, then starts to tear away and then the string shreds really quick. Roughly half the time that Prince Premier Touch was lasting and the PPT was good all the way up to breaking point.

Spin and control is very good, feels a little muted and dull, low powered for a multi. ideally would prefer a little more feel (messing with tension again may help)

how would you compare this string's power levels to other multis?

and how long does a multi have to last for it to become your tier 1?

More than 15 hours as a cross before I want to cut it out or it snaps. It is medium powered, a bit muted. No as powerful as Prince Premier touch, more powerful than Head Rip control.

I still stand by the fact that it plays well when fresh but the main reason I stopped using it was because its a pain in the ass to string, it is so slippery my drop-weight refused to hold it in the gripper.

if Poly is a 1/10, PrinceTouch is a 10/10 power and Head Rip control is a 4/10 power, Diadem would be a 6/10.

using Rip Control now as a cross and much happier with it for everything

what about vs Gamma TNT2 or Maxim Touch?

also your original post praising the string's slipperiness was over 1.5 months before your 2nd post criticising the string after the coating fell off. did you play less than 15 hours in 1.5 months? sorry for a kabillion questions

TNT2 is more powerful and has a less slick surface.

no, I played more than that, the coating lasted 8 hours, but the string lasted longer than the coating. as more of the coating is removed the string loses the thing that makes it unique.
