Hi Team Diadem, just ordered the sample pack from Diadem last week. Really loving the Solstice Power so far. Love the aqua color too. Just wanted to say good job and hope to see new stuff soon :)

Been experimenting with many all-poly and hybrids (poly/gut, gut/poly) on and off for the past two years. Probably used between 15-20 different set-ups. Have to say that the Diadem Solstice Power 1.20 is my poly of choice. Absolutely love the pocketing, feel, spin and pop with those strings. Durability is decent too (for a poly). What will be new for the Diadem line for 2018? And thanks for taking the time out and posting on these boards.

DannyFreed,

It's always incredible to hear stories of how much players enjoy our strings. Especially with a million and one options out there, we appreciate the support and will continue to bring awesome products for you and other Diadem fans to enjoy!

2018 has a lot in store:

Evolution is our newest string. Our first big jump into the non poly market. We wanted to create a string for all levels of players from beginner (full bed) - to advanced (hybrid) that could truly provide some performance benefits. It's comfort, power , and feel, equals the high end multi's and premium polymaides on the market, but at half the cost, at $9.95 set $149.95 a reel. Cost / performance ratio will be hard to be out matched.

Featured in last months Tennis Industry magazine as one of the top strings ever tested.

Diadem Evolution is a polyamide monofilament with a low friction silicone based coating. This non-polyester monofilament is incredibly responsive and comfortable with long lasting durability. Designed to handle the sharp edges of our sharp polys in hybrid format, this string offers precision, comfort, and easy power.

  • Length: 40 ft / 12.2m
  • Colors: Azure Blue, Black, Natural
  • Gauges Available:
    • 17 (1.25mm)
    • 16 (1.30mm)
    • 15L(1.35mm)

We also have a new poly thats working it's way around (hint hint, it's not star shaped!) . Look for that as a summer release!

That's quite interesting. So it would compare to Babolat Origin, but at a cheaper price point?

Thanks for joining and answering questions!

Is it true you will be releasing rackets in the future ?
Atatu,

Where did you hear such nonsense !?! haha.

Yes, that is correct. We have teamed up with some greats in the game to develop our rackets over the past 12 months. More details will be coming soon.

(tip) Instagram is starting to pop up with some photos here and there.

I really love Babolat Origin as my main in a hybrid with Head Velocity. This new Diadem Evolution sounds like a solid replacement for the somewhat pricey Origin. Wonder about the availability in Canada since I don't see this brand at many tennis shops and Canadian Online retailers.

I noticed a couple playtests on your IG but I assume they are already complete. Will you be running any play-tests in the coming months? *Sottovoce* Any playtests for frames?

Dear Team Diadem

I would be glad to playtest your strings, however I cannot find them in Europe (I live in Switzerland).
Also, I would be glad to have a kind of Diadem Solstice Power in black, because I am not a fan of the aqua blue, to be honnest :)
Elite is probably good also, but does not seem to have the same success...

Do you think a distribution in Europe (TW Europe f.e) would be possible ?

Yes, the age old question if Solstice Power will ever come in a darker / more neutral color. I can't say yes or no, but I could see with it being our most popular string and it's continued growth, that a extra color might be in store in the future.

There are a few online retailers in Europe to get your DIadem fix. We have yet to engage with TW Europe, but as the product line continues to grow, it's definitely a strong possibility that we will be carried sooner rather than later.

@DiademSports I know you can't reveal much at this point but can you atleast give the specs for racquets coming soon? Very very curious! Saw the IG post and although it was for the overgrip, I loved the racquet aesthetics! Anything would be appreciated.

Dartagnan64,

Racquet Guys in Canada is our Canadian distributor. They are in the process of putting in their order for Evolution and our new Pro Touch overgrip. So look for it to be available within the next few weeks.
I'll check them out thanks. Although I noticed this thread just after I put in an order for more Origin through another canadian online retailer. Dohh.

Hi Team D,

I am not sure how it all really works but does Diadem now, or do you have any plans to attempt to become a sponsor of any touring pros?

Hmm 16x20 is a pretty sweet area to be looking at, competing with Yonex mainly, hopefully Diadem aims to produce similar levels of QC and it isn't like Wilson :)

Two quick questions I hope you can answer

Are your frames going to be aimed toward the stiffer or softer side of things?
I am guessing they are manufactured in China?

Yes, we will be looking to add more notable players representing Diadem on the ATP & WTA World Tour. We currently have around 40 ATP/WTA ranked players using our string.

What is the difference between Solstice Pro and Power?

Thanks.
Solstice Power and Pro, the idea was simply Power vs Control. Making them the same color while great for branding, hard to decipher which string was used and preferred by player, Power or Pro. The characteristics were too similar, soft poly, massive spin, one being slightly more muted (Pro) than the other. Power has superior feel and much better tension maintenance. With Solstice Power outselling Pro by 20 / 1 and Elite XT being more in line with our vision of Solstice Pro, we decided to discontinue Pro as of fall last year. It's priced on closeout at $5.99 a set.

We are hoping to have an official TW play test of Evolution and our Pro Touch overgrip shortly.

We would love to do an official racket play test on the TW boards. Let's see what we can worked out!
We have a 98 and 100. The 100 will come in a regular and lite version . 3 models total.

We will be introducing the specs in the near future. Sorry I know that doesn't help much.

I'll give you this...the 98 is a 16x20.

Best,
Team Diadem
Count me in! 16x20 sounds very Yonex-like. Good to see someone else giving this pattern a go.

Thanks for the reply. Wow. I didn't expect that. That is a very impressive number.

I know that you can't give specifics on particular players, but can you give us some kind of a range of how much players get to endorse, just a string across the industry. From say a Challenger qualie level player up to what a top ten player might expect to get, if they were endorsing a particular string only. I am not expecting to get names or specific contract numbers for your players, of course. It would be interesting to hear the range though.

I will say this, there aren't many players who are getting paid by racket companies that endorse a separate string brand (only lower ranked Head players are allowed to use string stencils that I know of ) This is because the racket companies usually won't contractually allow it or they take out the bonuses in their contract if they do ( I know this as we dealt with this multiple times!!). We had multiple top 50 players ready to switch and stencil but couldn't get it done.

A challenger qualies player is most likely just getting free string for stenciling and may or may not have a racket sponsor. challenger main draw will have a racket contract giving them free rackets, strings, etc ( maybe a performance or ranking bonus). If they are young / high upside player / former top 10 ITF junior, then they usually have an agent and get a pretty good sized contract all based on the "what could be". I would estimate between $30-100k, but that includes rackets. Yonex is over paying everyone and I could imagine they paid hefty price tags for Shapolav and Tiafoe, much more than the sum i mentioned.

Lastly, I will leave you with this. We were in talks with a top 10 player for string only and it was at the higher end of the range I gave above.

One is on the lower 60's the other is in the higher 60's.

Yes, right along side the other fan favorites.

I'm surprised about the top 10 player to be honest! I would guess Sock, but he strings so low that these strings would be both powerful and really high launch. Currently have my Angell TC90 strung at 42/39 with Solstice Power. Was the player thinking about SP or XT Elite?

why does your strings feel like paper or plastic with NO feel ? it has great spin and decent power but that lack of feel is preventing it from reaching the masses. maybe that lack of feel comes from the shape of the string ?

When is the expected release date of the diadem racquets? I love the strings and I am maybe looking into a new racquet. Would love to wait if its coming out soon?

SP was the string of choice. Glad to hear you are enjoying SP as well! TC90, you're a braver soul than I, to step out on the court with such a marksman frame!

Not quite sure, as I don't think we have any paper products implemented as an element. I will discuss to make sure no cardboard is falling into the masterbatch before extrusion!

To be honest, I'm sorry you feel that way, I wish i had a proper answer to that question. Being in this industry you hear so many varying opinions as to what a product is or isn't, it could make you lose yourself. I've heard not durable, the most durable, too soft, too stiff, best tension maintenance, worst maintenance, incredible feel, no feel, the list goes on and on. At the end of the day, everyone has an opinion with many different variables, gauge, racket, string pattern, customized / non customized, constant pull / dropweight, technique, etc, etc.

Back to the technical part of the question. The shape of the string while unique and the most aggressive shape / sharpness out there, helps grab and bite the ball, I'm not sure that would be the direct cause of your NO feel. As the shape obviously does change or enhance (at least we think so!) the feel of the ball in and out of the string bed, I think the material of the string might attribute more to overall feeling.

What tension and gauge did you play it at ? If it felt like it had no feel, it might have simply been played too tight. Although it could have been your normal tension, all strings especially different shaped , different stiffness levels, etc. can cause for an adjustment period of finding the right tension for that particular string.

We are expecting a Summer / August release. Wait it out! We will have some awesome introductory specials!
6 months?!?! That's sooo long. I dont know if I can be that patient... I think you should send me a test racquet now and I will tell everyone how amazing it is. ;)

I will even string it up with my solstice power and wear my diadem wrist bands.

Strung at 53 lbs. but it felt very plastic like feel. something like Kirschbaum strings have very plush ball pocketing feel where you can feel the ball sitting inside the string pocket and comes out with good power and spin. with Diadem, I just couldn't feel the ball much at all and just felt harsh.

What material are you using ? compared to more popular brands like Luxilon, Solico and Kirschbaum ?? is it completely different material ?
