That is a pretty large difference considering how close together the two insoles were placed

You’re right! The 1st Gen Torneo insoles are a tad bit wider. Maybe, by millimeters.

really appreciate these

you are right about whichever one getting put on top looks bigger

very interesting the way they chose to size their shoes

one last annoying question: are the EU sizes in the T1s the same or different from the T2 EE's EU size?

If the footbed is wider in the 1st generation Torneos, but you said the Torneo 2 Wide was "WAY roomier", would it be accurate to say that the roominess comes from a more spacious, looser, or stretchier upper (since the footbed is actually slightly narrower)?

Also were the two shoes also the same in EU sizing under the tongue as well or only the same in U.S. sizing?

Yes. I agree it's roomier because of the uppers.

Very interesting that the answer is NO.

Apologies for the delay, but the shoes are here:

Thanks,

So after a few days worth of ownership now and all the differences, do you prefer one over the other?

Took them on vacay as my casual shoe. Out of box comfort just as expected. I don't plan to use these on court until I burn through my GR9Ws.

Definitely going to keep buying the T2Ws as long as they're in stock.

@FloridaAG @vsbabolat - long time wearer of the Blushield Torneo. I ordered a pair of the New Balance CT Rally shoes to try. Am I glad I did! All day comfort and fantastic support on court. These may possibly be the best tennis shoes I’ve ever worn. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Played sectionals on them, got in the car and drove 5 hours home. They are like slippers. And I’ve only worn them 4 times. Absolutely no break in.

Thanks. Very hesitant to ever try another NB shoe as the original Lavs really messed my feet up - what I thought was a break-in period was actually the shoe wrecking my feet

Insoles are exactly the same size
I finally imported these from Americaland. When I first took them out, I immediately compared the left shoe of the T2 with the right shoe of the T1 (sole to sole, as in I put the outsoles against each other) and it was pretty obvious that the T1s were longer. SHOULD I HAVE USED MY EU SIZE? I was about to come on here and cuss you out for LYING about them being the same size. I would now have to go through the annoying process of returning these and recouping the duties and taxes I paid for them. This is a comically long process.

I decided to try them on to see maybe I can get used to the tightness. I am pretty sensitive to the fit but when I tried them on, it didn't feel any different. It felt just as good as the T1s.

I took them off and did the sole to sole comparison again just to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. I wasn't; the T1 WAS INDEED BIGGER!

Then I suddenly remembered what you said: that the FIT and INSOLES were the same. You never said anything about the outside. Thats when I tooked out the insoles for both the T1 AND the T2 and what do you know? They were both exactly the same size. EXACTLY! Despite being obviously about 4mm longer and 2mm wider, the T1 still had the same interior footbed as the T2. No wonder they felt similar: because they were literally the same.

Anyways, apologies for doubting you, even momentarily. Importing these things are such a hassel but with you and @innoVAShaun 's persistent answers to my kabillion questions, I was able to navigate the Diadora size change (which was totally uncalled for and unnecessary btw) without denting muh wallet!

But yeah it is interesting how the outside changes shape but the inside is the same. That means the upper was thicker in the larger T1.

Can't wait until the T3 next year so I can ask more annoying questions! :happydevil:

Why didnt you just order it from diadora direct?
The key is in my post which you quoted "I finally imported these". And you kind of also answered yourself afterwards with post #67. Ordering direct from diadora results in cost-prohibitive shipping costs and duties/taxes. My love for shoes can not and will not exceed my love of getting a deal/steal.

Are the women shoes same as mens except colors? My short feet probably needs 40.5 and most stores lowest male size is 41..

Just ordered the wide ones to check their fit. I was wondering for those who have the wide version, does it have anything on it that indicates it is wide? The shoebox it came with did say wide but on the inside is says 11.5M so I'm not sure if that is supposed to mean men's or medium. Never had the chance to get the 1st generation so I don't have anything to compare it to.

It will say wide on the box and the item numbers should be different:

I got my Torneo 2 Wides yesterday!

WOW! Way roomier than the original Torneos! Definitely roomier than my Asics Gel Resolution 9 Wides!

I haven't had a chance to wear them out yet. But walking around the house, the factory insoles are definitely much cushier than the original Torneos. I removed them to install my orthotics and took some pics to compare them to the 1st gen Torneo insoles. They are both the same size when placing them over the other.

Left: Torneo
Right: Torneo 2 Wide (notice the soft foam inserts)

Are you able to stay true to size with the Wides? I am close to EEE. I can wear Babolat SFX true to size. Just looking for more cushion.

I tried these out in the store and they felt like pillows on my feet!
I wanted to by them, but the concern was the fit around the heel.
My heel felt a bit insecure in these.
I had them tied down using the last eyelet and pretty snug, but still the heel felt like it wasn't holding in place very well.
My shoe of choice over the past decades has been whatever version of the Vapor that came out, and it always fit and was great, until after the 9.5s.

I want to like these but the fit around the heel is keeping me from pulling the trigger.
Anyone else feel this and overcome the issue?

I had this problem with the Torneo 1's predecessor and I couldn't do anything about it. Sizing down was not possible without crushing my pinky toe. The Torneo 1 and Torneo 2 didn't have heel slippage for me though. You never ended up trying the Finale or Fly?
Been playing shoe roulette for a while now.
Also curious if you have tried or have any interest in trying the Finale?

I know nothing about the Finales. Do they come in a wide foot too? I am hoping the Blueshields fit because I loved the cushion on them a lot (I mainly play on hard courts now). I had to play mine a half size up because I didn't have wides at the time, and the pointy toes were annoying due to this. Hoping the Wide version solves that since I can go true to size.

I have tried the Finale and the Fly and the B-Icon.
B-Icon felt good, but a bit stiff and unforgiving. Not sure about how much my feet would hurt due to break-in time.
Finale felt awesome!!!!! Fit, weight, cushion, everything felt great in the store. However, I don't like the colors available in the Finale.
Right now, they are 1st on the list.

I'm looking at the Rush Pro 4.0s which fit great too, except that the heel also felt a bit insecure.
The Ultrashots also felt great, but worried about the heat of those shoes since I play in Houston and it gets hot on court here. It was 76 degrees here today.
The other interesting shoe is the Wave Exceed 5. I didn't like the Enforce Tour unlike everyone else. Just not sure if the cushioning on the Exceed 5 will be enough.

How would you compare the toebox width at the shoe's widest point between the B.Icon 2 vs the Finale in the same U.S. size?
The B.Icon felt tight no matter which socks I wore.
The Finale felt like it had a little room to maneuver in the forefoot, but not too much.
With my Nike Cushioned socks, they fit well, but a bit loose with the thin Thorlos I have.

Have you tried a runner's knot? I do that on the Flys and it's my favorite shoe for game day.

I did not try a runner's knot.
I might have to try that but usually using the last eyelet for me ends up accomplishing the same result, so I usually don't go for shoes that don't have an extra eyelet further back along.
Honestly, the heel counter just felt too shallow and not high enough. If the heel counter on that shoe was higher, I would have 3 already! :-D

If you have narrow heels that aren't secure, you shouldn't buy the shoe. Try the NB CG1. I use it as a casual back up shoe when I travel.

T2 Wides are here and they fit! Finally, some freedom for me in the toebox. Only other shoe that feels this good on my wide ass feet are the Mizuno Exceeds (I had to size way up though) and the Babolat SFx3, but both have really poor cushion and stability for hard court tennis.

I switched to the Rafa Cages and accepted the narrower fit just because they were just wide enough where I could deal with them for 2 hours, but also because the cushion and stability is incredible. Didn't think I'd find that combo again but it appears that the Diadora wides have it.

I will say that my right foot I think is an EEE wide so even with these wides it was just enough for my right foot, but the spacing is there. Left foot is perfect.

Agree that the heel is pretty generous but I have no slipping back there. I do use a runners knot and have them locked in around the ankles though.

It sucks being a wide footer and finding a proper fitting tennis shoe, Just very few options plus we only get the one color pattern with these and no sale price. But I will say that the white looks pretty good.

Yoo, good stuff. I love it when a fellow wide footer finds something that works!

(irrelated question): Have you ever tried the hypercourt express by chance?
