Diadora Blushield Torneo Official Thread

So the initial perceptions of the snug fit were simply due to it being new (and therefore not broken into) then right?

EDIT: https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/diadora-blushield-torneo-2.742820/
Correct for me. I had no issues on court despite the tight feeling on my left forefoot (which is my larger foot) when I tried them on initially. To me felt the same as the original Torneos which were snugger out of the box than the Blueshield Speed 5s were.

Just ordered 2 more pairs. Silly of me to try to stray
I'm with you. I bought a pair of Ultrashots and they felt fine to wear, but after a couple of hours on court they were far less comfortable than the Torneo. I'm back in the Diadora fold.

I think opinions vary on this. They are not as wide, and the uppers are firmer
I personally like them better
You probably wont remember but do you recall if there was or was not a difference in size/fit between the silver (Gen 1) Torneos and the blue (also Gen 1) ones? I suddenly remembered that there was a review which said the silver ones were smaller and never asked you if it was possible to confirm or deny this.

Also, can you reveal which colorway did you acquire for the 2nd generation Torneos? Thank you.

Wish they would bring back a grey or black colorway

EDIT: Just saw the black colorway on TW

Just bought Torneo 2 7.5, European 40. Previous version I wore 7.0, European 40. Current 7.0 is a 39. The 7.0/39 were too small, 7.5 seem good. Playing with them soon. Tried 7.0 wide..a bit short, nice width, did not keep them.

Update: despite 7.5 t2 being same European size as 7.0 torneo 1st generation the feel longer when playing. Not wider. Will use for practice only. Disappointed in the size difference. I appear to be between sizes

Ok so now that the clay season is over, I can give a feedback on V2 (the white ones for clay surface).
Long story short, I concur with previous poster about weird size inconsistencies between V1 and V2.
I got surface V1 (the blue ones) in size 9.5 which is my go-to size in all my previous Nike tennis shoes and usually it leaves a tiny breathing room for the toes. Torneo on the other hand were way too big for a comfortable play as-is. But an additional sole and a marathon knot fixed this and I absolutely loved how rugged V1 felt.
Now after a year or so of using them (I'm solely a rec player, so my shoes don't get worn out too fast) they're shrinking a bit so I think of taking extra sole out but we'll see.

Knowing that V1 were larger than my usual size I intentionally got V2 half size smaller (9.0) hoping that I wouldn't need any extra actions to make them work. At first there were no surprises and they felt great!
But by the end of summer (after like what... 4 or so months of play) I noticed that my right foot starts to feel stuffy in there.
Weird because no way half the size smaller should be... THAT small.

Blushield Torneo are still my fav among other brands. But it's gonna be a massive pain in the ass if they keep jumping around sizes.

Really hoping for the Torneo 2s with clay outsole in a dark colorway!

My white/red ones turned clowny orange instantly. Hoping they’ll issue the current black ones in a clay version…please Diadora??

Fokina had the dark blue ones in clay this past summer. Must have been a custom shoe.

Been playing with Asics for years, most recently Court FFs.

Bought a pair of these, torneo 2 from the foot doctor recommendations on youtube.

Few problems.
1. The heel seems to slip up when I'm up on the balls of my feet. I used the second knot and tied it down tight. It helps but still some slippage for me on the heel.
2. I've never had footpain like I get from these. Maybe my foot is too used to the Asics? I've worn them 3 times now for ~2 hours each session. I feel sharp pains in my foot (not blisters). In the ball, in the heel.

Just very strange. I guess my footshape is not correct for these.

For heel slippage on Torneo 2, I had huge success solving the problem by adding these "back of heel cushion pads". They hold on quite well and I was able to replace one that had gone wild after 20+ hours of play.
I was in the same situation as you, having heel slippage even using the last eyelet with a runner's knot. This solved it without making the shoe feel shorter. Felt improvement in court movement immediately, really.

I do wish I could get one that doesn't have a center cushion (then the heel lock would be Barricade-like) but Amazon in France doesn't carry those.

Yes this is a known problem. Known, but not WELL known.

I can't remember what order it was but a few years back, people who were locked down in the GR8 had slippage in the Torneos, and people who were locked down in the Torneos had slippage in the GR8. I think it was related to the shape of the heel counter was more biased towards a lower or higher arch (or vice versa, I can't remember). I think people with low arches achieved great lockdown in the GR8 while people with high arches had great lockdown in the Torneos. It may be the total opposite though I can not rememeber the order but thought it was kind of funny at the time.

High Arch here - GR8s were dreadful (and caused me significant pain in the ball of my foot). Torneos good for slippage but require runners loop

Diadora Finale in my true size US 10.5 - very happy with them
Durability is not the best (same outsoles as the Torneo), slightly less energy return as well I would say - but combo of fit, price, performance etc - working well for me and softer than the Torneo on my gnarly left foot interior big toe side

Just to confirm my previous message: I just bought a Torneo Blushield 2 of size 11.5 and it feels comfortable. And I wore Tourneo Blushield of size 11.
