Diadora Speed B.Icon is Great!

This is a great new shoe from Diadora that there isn't much info on yet. I'm coming from the Ubersonic 4 and i have been really been enjoying these. it has a secure medium fit. Light enough but also very supportive. The lacing system looks a little odd but once you get it tied up, it works great. This would be a great alternative for someone who can't get their shoe of choice right now because of supply chain issues. It has my personal stamp of approval as a great performance shoe.

Have some coming on Tuesday apparently. Hope they work.

I’ve been a big fan of the Blueshield 5 ag’s. Will be interesting to hear any comparisons in terms of stability. Diadora is really underrated.

I tried these on in the store yesterday.
They fit like a glove and felt so secure.
Weren't as cushioned as the Torneos but felt much more locked in.
I love the Vapor 9.5s.
I've been wearing Nike Vapors since the Vapor IVs.
Vapor Xs onward just don't feel the same to me.
I think I will pull the trigger on these today.

Just got mine. Played 3 sets in them.
Very nice shoe, comfortable out of the box, no break-in required.
I ordered them based on the length measurement 11.5/45.5/29.5
They are 404g/14.3oz in size 11.5.
I wear 11.5/46/29 in Asics GR7/GR8, 12/46.5/29.5 in Asics Speed FF2 and 12/46 in Nike Vapor.
They feel like a mix of old Barricades and Gel Resolution 7.
The cushioning is between Vapor X & Gel Resolutions. Quite low to the ground toes with high up heel like the Barricades.

I was looking for a shoe with a non mesh upper that would hopefully last longer than my previous shoes.
I would say the joining of the breathable textile to the hard plastic/leather bit is a bit flimsy out the box.

Everybody is ordering 1/2 size down?

I normally wear a 9-1/2 in Nike Vapors and felt the B-Icon felt fine in the 9-1/2.
I've only worn this B-Icon shoe in the store and around the house for a bit today.
Hopefully they will feel good on the court as well.

Nice to hear as they get little exposure. I always liked their cycling shoes !

Played a few sets with the B-Icons now.
Can't seem to get the lacing right so I don't get pain on the top of my foot.
I couldn't even get through 2 sets the first time out with the lacing pretty standard.
Keep feeling pressure right across the top where that lateral support piece comes up the side of the shoe.
Any ideas to alleviate the pain?

Bittersweet because I love the comfort, the fit, the feel, the cushioning, stability etc however they take the gold medal for fastest to break...
5 days ~ 10 hours of court time on red clay.

Thinking to take them to a shoe repair shop see if they can do some leather patch or something durable in those edges.

Played several sets in them. Great support. They fit really snug around your ankle which I like. Very comfortable with no real break in needed. They also look great. Look forward to seeing different colors come out.

I hated them went down a size too narrow. Then went back to my normal size pain on top of the foot. I have an average foot but not for me. I love the Resolution 7 and can't find anything similar. The Res 8 has that dumb strap on top of the foot that kills.

Based on this thread I ordered a pair that arrived today. I typically wear Vapor Pro's but they've been destroying my toes so wanted to try something different. I also don't find the vapor pro that comfortable. It's not that they are uncomfortable but they just don't feel that great on your feet.

One of the biggest factors for me is locking in the heel tightly. I've had achilles surgery before and likely need to have my other one repaired but trying to avoid it. Any heel slippage for me results in micro-tears that hurt for a couple of days and keep me off the court.

No play test yet but walking around the house they feel fantastic. I ordered a 1/2 size down as many recommended and it seems to be the right fit. They feel comfortable right out of the box, way more plush feeling while still being fairly low to the ground. Will get them on the court this weekend and share feedback.

Interestingly he suggested staying tts even though they run long. I sized down 1/2 size and even with my gameday pro insoles in, they feel fine.
it's funny cause whenever he talks about shoe fit (like Nikes being narrow or Fila/KSwiss being wide) I mostly agree. But whenever he says TTS for his Diadora I'm like...what lol. my impression is he has giant feet, or for whatever reason he just likes his diadoras more roomy.

Just received my pair of these and they feel incredible. I just hope they last decently well. Cushioning, weight, and stability all feel exceptional.

Reporting back on my experiences. I’ve had my pair for about a week and have worn them three times. Can’t say enough good things about them. Very similar to what @Chezbeeno mentioned. Great blend of cushioning and stability.

I’m normally a Nike guys and to me it feels like a middle ground between the GPT and Vapor Pro.

Hello! Would like some advice. My right foot is a hair longer and wider than my left foot but still not classified as “wide” according to Brannock. Currently using the Gel Resolution 8 TTS and my toes on my right foot keep jamming into the front (toe nail bruising) and my big toe blisters fairly easily.

these B.Icons look great and seem to be everything I want in terms of performance. Any GR8 users here have any thoughts on the toe box?

EDIT: Ordered the B Icons in TTS, I just went with Zach's advice so we'll see!

Wow Brittany saying she went TTS even with the narrowest foot on the playtest is surprising considering they said go down .5. Also seeing the “cosmetic” rip like @babar had is pretty discouraging. Does Diadora have some sort of warranty for anything like that?

Foot Doctor Zach’s review sold me on it and it’s good to see even more glowing reviews. Hopefully they make a black colored one!

FYI re: sizing, we have found the women's shoes to run true (none of the female playtesters changed sizes) while the men's seem to be a half size big (all of the men's playtesters adjusted a half size down). The fit descriptions on each of the shoes will show that!

Let us know if we can help clear up anything else,

Yeah that "cosmetic" rip is not a good look, I don't want to wear something looks so broken around especially short time after first use.

Ah yes, I apologize. You do say that in the "Closer Look" video at the end. Thank you for your reviews!

@4:27 the playtester broke the shoe exactly in the same place mine broke after a few hours.
These manufacturers need to wake up and make $150 shoes that don't break in 4 hours.

I work at a store and I have seen a few cases of this^. The worst was a visible hole in that area a few weeks after purchase. By a competitive junior. Definitely not made for hardcourt sliding. Everyone loves the shoe though.

Discouraging to see it's a widespread issue and not an isolated one. I wonder if Diadora's warranty covers this.

Indeed great shoes. ridiculously comfortable. stability of the barricade mixed with the feel of vapor x. I'm not sliding on hard court though, playing on red clay.
I took mine to a shoe shop to patch up the fabric with support underneath and restitch the top. Holding up so far but looks kinda ugly.
If you play on clay, this more than a cosmetic issue, as dirt gets into the shoes through the hole.
