Diadora Speed blushield fly 2

Do you guys think that the D Blueshield Fly and the D Blueshiled Fly 2 have the same cushioning? I'm asking since on sale

Thanks

Midsole/outsole remain the same; updates only seem to have focused on the uppers (especially unitongue padding and heel collar). IME, they are a slight improvement over their predecessors (which is a good shoe as well) in that respect; but the 2's do have a narrower fit with less room in the toebox. I've found both to fit true to size.

Very informative! Thanks Vouk !

I never thought that buying a good couching shoe today would take so much research! :)

ok so I bought a pair of Diadora Blushield Fly that I found at a really nice price. Since the upgrade on the Fly 2 were only focused on the cosmetic of the shoe I thought to give it a try. I could not pass the deal. I'm also planning on getting insoles...probably here on TW. Any suggestion?

Try without first, you never know , or have a look at this thread.

https://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/index.php?threads/the-best-insoles.573470/

I lost interest in the first fly version as it was a wider fit and a bit heavier, but it also got great reviews from users that enjoyed that fit.

Thanks DJ.
Right, I will try them without insole first. Nowadays I don't play tennis not as nearly as I used to play almost 3 years ago unfortunately. Actually I just started again but I know I just can't anymore after the injuries....I would be very happy to play once a week without having issues :) Hopefully the shoes will help and if this pair wont do it then i'll try a different one. :)

These will do just fine, i'm im the same boat about 3hrs a week, sometimes 5hrs or two sessions, and these fit for purpose just right

I wish there were clay tennis courts here in Wisconsin....that would make everything much easier.

So I got a pair of Diadora Blushield Fly, not the Fly 2. I just tried them on and it's definitely a different shoes. The boot style is interesting but I don't know yet if I really like it or if it will bother the back of my heel. By saying that i mean the tendon area can be subjected to being robbered by the back of the shoes due to the higher boot style.
Lots of people mentioned the roomie toes box, and it is a little and for that reason at least in my case the size 9 might fit better than 9.5 which is usually my size ( I ordered 9 and 9.5 to be sure)
As far as comfort I can't say really nothing since I have not played in them but by just walking I could tell they were very comfortable and the couching is pretty good. I might replaced the insole thou with a better one...just to be safe. I will update with more information about the comfort once I played in them a couple of times.

Hey folks, I loved these shoes but they were a bit roomy in toe box and I think I ave medium arches... these felt like they had no arch support. I am beginning to think I might like the room so wondering if getting an insole with more arch support like the orange superfeet might be the ticket. Anyone else use an insole in this shoe to help with low arch support?

Interesting. I have never used diadora shoes. But maybe I should try them next time. I need some more confidence to order them online though (which is where I usually buy most of my tennis shoes).

The zoom zero's have great cushioning, tried them for a short while, like 5minutes. I just do not purchase Nike anymore due to durability.
I think the diadora is a complete shoe with no weakness.

These are clean - still rocking my teal/black pair
they hold up really well. The outsoles show no wear surprisingly I am very satisfied

Likewise! plenty of hours in and no damage. I would get these if I was on grass, but with clay e.t.c mine wouldn't stay white long :-)

Hi all I'm interested in getting these shoes but I've had issues with knee pain popping up in the past as a result of using lighter shoes like the Asics solution speeds. Seeing as this shoe is on the lighter side, can anyone chime in and say why this shoe might be better than the one I'm currently looking at which is the most recent Speed Blushield 3?

I haven't tried the blueshield 3 but this is my opinion in the blueshield fly 2. For a light shoe this is extremely cushioned well. I have issues with my right hip/hamstring and these shoes give me a lot more relief on my legs compared to my ex-pair Nike Cage 3s. After an hour of play with my cages my legs specifically my right would be achy. The Blueshield Fly 2s are light, stable and well cushioned - I definitely can play longer on the court in these shoes compared to others I have tried. I would say pull the trigger and give it a try. Its a great shoe and its become my main pair when I play.

For those who have wide feet, this one fit quite wide. I have 4e feet and usually wear 11.5 size shoe. With Fly 2, i can use size 12 comfortably

I moderately wide feet as well and buying the fly 2s in my regular size fit perfectly on me. Still amazed by the durability.

Its a long shot but would you have any idea how these blueshield 2's compare to the kswiss hypercourt express?

Never used tried them but they seem like wide fitting shoes. These are snug fit like asics ff. Kswiss are lighter by a bit so maybe less stable mate.

Also durability on the diadoras are fantastic. Kswiss don't seem to have those attributes.

I find the durability absurd for these shoes. I play roughly 2-3 hrs a week and don't see any wear - trying to get my 6 month guarantee. Great shoe overall. Happy to make the switch.

I have the ASICS FF2 and I promise that this shoe is wider in the forefoot. There is no question. One of the reasons I did not by it is that it was too roomy in the forefoot for me.

I have both and feel that Fly 2 have wider fore foot, more support and stability. KSwiss HE feel lighter but upper is too pliable.

I have size 12 and 13 kswiss. Size 12 feel tight and size 13 feel good width wise but too long.

Tw europe have 60% off those sizes on some of the diadoras i just saw

Just a quick update , I have spent a good 4-5 hours in the last 3 days in these shoes. The comfort, cushioning and traction is superb! No knee pain whatsoever. I did not have to tie the laces on the last holes.
You feel very comfortable in sprints and slides, not worrying about any injury, just going after every ball hard and fast.
I have been wearing two pairs of socks of late, but for these 4-5 hours just one pair of thorlos. I still think they fit narrow/medium, which is fine as my foot is like that.
Really enjoying the shoe, been getting plenty of looks too as you don't see a great deal of Diadora on court these days...

This is throwing me, as i read in some places they are a wide shoe, but you're saying they're narrow.

I really want to get a pair as the kswiss hyper E are great but the cushioning disappears and the uppers dont offer much support as I'd like for real aggressive moving, but they're the only shoe ive found wide enough.

Of course diadora can't be had in Aus so i cant try some on.

Im more cursed than blackadder sometimes

Fly 2 is definitely wider than KSwiss HE.

I usually wear 11.5 4e and size 12 Fly 2 can accomodate my wide feet perfectly.

I am a flat narrow fit, I can wear size 11.5 and 11us in asics ff, but these are size 12us and fit perfect and snug. The first fly's were wide fitting, these are not. Yeah OZ does not have much in terms of diadora, shame really

And the Gov. whinge about economy / purchasing items abroad e.t.c... well even with their pathetic gst on foreign goods it is still cheaper to get stuff online than local. They will never learn.

Here is what I can tell you for SURE.. These shoes are not narrow. I have a medium to narrow width foot and the reason I did not buy them was because of the extra room in the forefoot. They may not be wide, but they are by no means narrow for a medium width foot. Now I did not try them a size down and I did think about it. I have no doubt I could have made them work but thorlonnumber threes did not fill it out for me.

I just received the Fly 2's today. Man, these are most comfortable tennis shoes out of the box I ever tried ! I already have the Speed 2's and really liked them so trying these Fly 2's
seeing how well they were reviewed was the next logical option. Compared to Speed 2 this shoes just has more material, including ticker tongue, that wraps your foot arch much more.
It is soft and definitely made for comfort. The Speed 2 feels a bit more minimalistic compared to these shoes, but Speed 2 is by no means a "lightweight" shoe, they both seem to have similar
but slightly different outsole and midsole pattern, the insoles are the same. Both midsoles when pushing by finger inside the shoes feel soft with enough give and at the same time protection
so impact protection should be about the same. The Fly 2 with that sock like design feel like they cover your upper foot more. In Speed 2 I got size 9.5 and they feel great but at the same
time there is really no wiggle room. I decided to get Fly 2's in size 10 seeing from reviews that it might be difficult to put them on and their design being somewhat different.
I think I made the right call, but not 100% sure yet because there is definitely more wiggle room in forefoot. If they don't expand too much this will be the right size but I guess I will need to play few hours
to see how that goes. Putting them on is definitely a bit of a challenge, but nothing too bad really, I have high arches and normally have trouble with narrower shoe entries
but this wasn't that bad. Maybe going to size 10 helped in this case as well. These feel like quality shoes, with some discounts it appears to be a great value !
Other shoes I play with right now is Barricade Boost 2017, really like those but no longer made and they are about done...I also still use Yonex Fusion Rev but don't like the midsole that much,
it feels hard and the upper material is too plasticky, these Diadora offerings are much better.

I am about 3 months deep in my pair and I can tell you the durability is something else. I play about 1-2x a week (~1hr) with aggressive movement and I still haven't seen any noticeable wear. The toe guard is constructed very well - I drag my left foot due to my BH technique and its still holding up.

I actually ordered a pair based on reviews like this!
Having also worn (and I'm now replacing) the Boost 2017, how does this compare and what should I expect?
Also, what size do you normally wear and how does it fit in comparison?
I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.

Hi, regarding these vs barricade boost 2017, I think the Speed 2 might actually be closer match to the Adidas shoes than these. Fly 2 are all about comfort around your foot, somewhat less performance and stability. To me barricades are very stable and at the same time comfortable enough. I like the upper being more mesh so that's where they were better than speed 2. Fly 2 has more material around the whole foot so it feels a bit heavier, bigger shoe. For sizing, it's also the same, I have both barricade and speed 2 in size 9.5 and they feel identical, fit me well if maybe slightly tight. I also have size 10 barricades but those feel much bigger than half a size would suggest. Size 10 in fly 2s is not as big feeling so I think I'd be ok with it. I know, a bit confusing but that is how they feel to me.

Anyhow, so I think if you want more direct comparison with Adidas then speed 2 might be a better option. If you want more comfort then fly 2 could be it.

Honestly the trade in performance for comfort was what I was hoping for going into this purchase, so yay.
Might report back once I get to play in them.
My main concern was fit. Mostly since I've heard people say it's slightly wide, others say it's slightly narrow.
We'll see. Lol.

~thatguy

The discrepancy in wide vs narrow could be because they are harder to put on and once on they wrap around upper foot fairly tight. However the front of the footbed seems a bit wide to me, but I got size that's slightly bigger so that could be the reason I feel that way as well. It seems you ordered them already so you'll find out soon enough

These are still going great. Not wide. More on medium narrow side of things. Damn that blue colorway looks tempting.
Still really like these shoes as well. Since they do lack the arch support, I replaced the insole with Superfeet Flex and all is good. I just ordered second pair in blue
but this time I'm going to my regular size 9.5 as I'm realizing I like the tighter fit of my shoes. Hoping for the best, lol.

Can't go wrong with superfeet, I used them in asics ff court first gen when the insoles wore out. I have had these blushield fly 2's for 9 months now and they are still in perfect condition, I think the comfort and cushioning is great, arch support is ok too.

I finally made a dent in my pair after 5 months. I applied for the warranty once I noticed the soles starting to smooth out and got a new pair a few weeks later. They let me keep my worn pair which are still in decent condition.

Just wanted to give an update. After receiving the second pair of the Fly 2's but in size 9.5 rather than 10 I think I now understand why there is confusion about them being slightly wide for some and slightly narrow for others.
In size 10 the shoe feels a little wide to me in the forefoot. I like the roominess there in general even if I do not have very wide feet. I ordered second pair in 9.5 size as I have Speed 2's in that size that fit me perfect
and as such I was hoping this size will provide more fitted feel and make the shoes feel a bit less bulky. Well, it turns out that while 9.5 is fine lengthwise, it is quite tight in the toe box, pinching a bit on the sides.
I was hoping they would stretch a bit but after few hours of walking around the house I don't think they will become more loose on the sides. I am returning these and exchanging for the Speed 3's.
I could have gone for the size 10 again but my existing ones are holding up so well they will likely last quite long and I decided for Speed 3's to just see how those are, plus these being lighter are more suited
for my singles games anyway. Hopefully they didn't change it too much from Speed 2's.

I'm intrigued in this shoe. I'm currently wearing the Asics Court FF's and like a lot, but want to try something new that's comfy. My biggest issue in finding shoes are my toes. I bang the crap out of every toe, with the exception of my big toe and pinky toe. I'm constantly fighting blood blisters under toenails and toenails falling off. This has been happening to me for years. Anyone else have major toe issues like I do that is wearing these now?

I have the issues and the Vapor X was not kind to me so I switched to Zoom Zero. I'm going to give Diadora a look now that I got a free $50 gift card haha.
