Diadora Speed Star K V

Hi,
Just got these shoes as they were on sale since the K VI model is now available. The reviews were decent, price was good, and I liked the way they looked in black/white logo and some pink accents.
I use Prince T22 and Babolat SFX currently, both very good shoes for me, with T22 slightly more stable while SFX slightly less weight, so I pick either depending on the mood.
Again, I got these because of the sale and just wanted something new to try, lol.
I wear size 10 in T22 and 9.5 in SFX - Babolats run large. Diadora size 10 is good fit for me, it might be just slightly longer in the toes than T22. I like shoes with a bit more width in the toe box, and Diadora fits very nicely, it's snug but not too tight. At first, after putting them on I felt it might be a bit too tight there, but it seems once I walked in them for 10 minutes the kangaroo leather upper adjusts and it started to feel great after that. The cushioning seems very nice with adequate stability at the same time. It's not on par with T22, but just walking in them they seem to be no worse stability wise than SFX shoes. The upper materials are very soft because of that kangaroo leather stuff - but not thin like the SFX - and the insole appears to do a good job. Another thing is that the heel area seemed a bit loose to me, I was concerned this might be a problem. However, they come with the extra hole for the laces to allow better lock. I used that runners tying technique and once that was done no more heel movement, so that appears to work here.
I didn't get a chance to play with them yet, I'll be looking to see how they hold up because of the softness of the upper, will see if the shoes give in even more - I don't want that as they fit very well now, don't need them any looser. Plus, need to make sure stability is good enough, as I'm still not fully recovered from knee surgery so that aspect is important.

Hopefully this helps someone as it seems the new K VI version might not be that much different other than the color choices.

Just wanted to give quick update. Played twice with the shoes now, both times about 2 hours of singles. Like the shoes so far. They did not seem to exhibit any additional give on the upper, so the fit is still nice and snug.
Really like the leather, soft and still feeling substantial. The shoes wrap my feet quite well. Stability does not seem to be affected for the softness, T22 still feels like it protects the foot more, but this shoe
is lighter and quite good. Not sure about durability, I do not destroy shoes very quick, so as long as they don't just fall apart I'll be satisfied.

Another update. Made a huge mistake of bringing these shoes to a high pace drill. With balls flying out of the ball machine and the group of people trying to make their shots
and then trying to run around to set up for the next round, I ended up running on top of one of the balls. This twisted my ankle and I ended up in some real pain. I was on pain killers
and icing for the next few days. I haven't played for over two weeks now. I am starting to feel better and will go out there again slowly. Bottom line, I think while the shoe
is very comfortable and soft, I think something like T22 would provide much better protection. Not sure if this would turn out any different for me with different shoes on,
but I know for this type of activity I am always going to try shoes with preference for stability and protection over agility :-(

sorry you twisted your ankle. sucks. but the fact that you twisted your ankle because you stepped on a ball isn't really the shoe's fault. unless you were wore ski boots, you probably would have sprained your ankle wearing any other tennis shoe as well.

Diadora are nice shoes, both Speed Star and Speed Pro are worth a try. The fit in larger sizes is however to wide for my feets so I go with Lotto instead.

Yes, I don't want to blame the shoes, want to stress this out as I really don't know whether something like T22 would protect me better in that situation.
I do however feel for the activity I was doing the more protective shoe would have been better. Maybe it wouldn't make much difference and I'm just disappointed with the injury, nonetheless
I have learnt my lesson - hopefully - and will need to start using somewhat different shoe for drills vs game time if I want something lighter.
