How is the fit compared to the Torneo 2?Just got a pair of the Torneo 3. So far a great update. Fits my wide forefoot and my narrow heel. Has very a plush ride. One annoying thing about the shoes is the length of the laces. Supper long and annoying.
Does it feel “heavy” (considering it is a 16oz shoe), or does it play lighter than its weight suggests? How’s the forefoot cushioning? Are you able to draw any comparisons to Eclipsion 5 or Revolt Pro, if you’ve ever played those shoesJust got a pair of the Torneo 3. So far a great update. Fits my wide forefoot and my narrow heel. It’s a little longerHow is the fit compared to the Torneo 2?
The midsole has been redesigned and seems more supportive. The heel is locked down nicely. My foot runs wide and doesn’t pinch the outside of my feet. I played in the Revolt Pro 3.5 and 4.0. These are a little longer.Does it feel “heavy” (considering it is a 16oz shoe), or does it play lighter than its weight suggests? How’s the forefoot cushioning? I should have been more specific. I meant to say how is toe-box width (specifically) compared to the Torneo 2?It’s a little longer

I am also curious to know how these compare to the Eclipsion 5s as these are my benchmark right now for the best combination of stability, mobility, and cushioning.Does it feel “heavy” (considering it is a 16oz shoe), or does it play lighter than its weight suggests? How is the toebox width on Eclipsion 5s? Good for wider than D feet? Or compared to Gel Res9 or Diadora shoes width?I am also curious to know how these compare to the Eclipsion 5s as these are my benchmark right now for the best combination of stability, mobility, and cushioning.
Thanks d-...High score, like the other Diadoras!
how is the cushioning compared some of the best cushioned tennis shoes out there like nike GT turbo of the past ? also torneo 2 i bought before was bit short, not sure why, i had to return it, i almost think you have to buy 1/2 bigger for longer length ?Just got a pair of the Torneo 3. It feels ver plush and cushioned. I found the 3 to run true to size for my foot. Yes, it doesn’t pinch my foot like the 9 did.Is the toebox area for this wider than the gel res 9?
I have no issues with the toe box and width of the Eclipsion 5s. I HATED the Gel Res 8-10 - the "Dynawrap" strap around my forefoot crushed my feet. Horrible. Ordering a pair of the Diadora Torneo 3s and have high hopes. I used to wear the B.Icon before they messed it up with Version 2 and thought those were terrific. I don't expect any fit issues with the Diadoras based on my experience. How is the toebox width on Eclipsion 5s? Good for wider than D feet? Or compared to Gel Res9 or Diadora shoes width?
Toreno 3 is plush and cushioned rather than a “bounce house” like the GP Turbo. Equal comfort with less bounce but feels much more stable.how is the cushioning compared some of the best cushioned tennis shoes out there like nike GT turbo of the past ? also torneo 2 i bought before was bit short, not sure why, i had to return it, i almost think you have to buy 1/2 bigger for longer length ?![]()
i like bounce house. anyway, according to heel thickness test from that footdoctor,,, Mizuno enforce tour had the thickest heel cushioning of any shoes except that GP turbo , of course. Torneo 3 was pretty close as well as that Novak Djokovic shoes. Surpringly Novak's shoes had Thicker Heel cushioning than the resolution 10Toreno 3 is plush and cushioned rather than a “bounce house” like the GP Turbo. That sucksfun stuff with my knee the last month
That sucks
Welcome back to the shoes subforum though. Have you considered the Solematch Control 2 by chance? Those have boost cushioning.
Funny you mention that because Foot Doctor Zach finds that shoe to be quite comparable to the venerated SoleCourt Boost lolSoleCourt Boost
Yes the Torneo 2, Torneo 1, along with the older Blushield 5 and Blushield 4 were essentially variations of the same models. These shoes all had heel slip issues which often ran opposite of the Resolution 8. That is to say, people who had heel slippage in the Diadoras found the Resolutions to have great lockdown and conversely, people who had heel slippage in the Resolutions found the Diadoras to have great lockdown. I think it had to do with the people's arch height or something. You ran out of Solematch Controls? IIRC you found the 1st generation of the SMC to be a very good fit for you.Quick question to everyone in the know. I bought Torneo 2 a couple of years ago and it gave me Achilles tendon pain immediately (like within 5 minutes of plaing in them). I also experienced major heel sleepage. I have medium to slightly narrow feet. The fit was good otherwise. I do have chronic Achilles tendonitis, but I keep it under control for several years now with my current shoes. I can play completely pain-free most of the time. I wonder if Torneo 3 has the same last and design of the heel counter as the Torneo 2, or it's different enough that I can give Torneo line a second chance. The reviews look promising.
I have been mainlining Lotto Raptor Hyperpulse 100 for the last three years. The fit is absolutely perfect on those, as if there were custom made for me. On a sidenote, tried on Eclipsion 5 today, and the forefoot was too wide for me.I think it had to do with the people's arch height or something. You ran out of Solematch Controls?
Are you serious? E5 wider than Raptors in the forefoot? You use EU sizing though, right?forefoot was too wide
US 13 sizing for both. I can't wear any shorter in Yonex E5 though. What a bummer! Are you serious? E5 wider than Raptors in the forefoot? You use EU sizing though, right?
I doubt this would have been the case if you used U.S. sizing. Did you try the E5 down 0.5 size to see if the wideness went away?
What ended up happening here? Do you have any interest in the second generation of the Wave Enforce Tour? They removed the booty-liner construction and stiffened up the midsole, so it isn't as comfortable. More responsive though! My Blushield Torneo 3s come tomorrow
I like them so far. It’s just different from my Lacoste and still trying to get used to that. I don’t feel quite as fast, and I felt slow the first time on court. Maybe it was break-in after that cause it got much better afterwards. They are comfortable though, like as good as the Speed Blushield 5s imo in that regard. What ended up happening here? If you have a narrow foot and want a Yonex, consider the Ad Accel, which is less wide than the Eclipsion, but the outsole is not as durable. For a snug fast durable shoe, the Fusion Rev 5 was the shoe to get, but I think Yonex has killed that line. It does have very nice heel cushioning, with the Power Cushion.Quick question to everyone in the know. Excellent first 2-hour session in these. They do not feel heavy at all on my feet. Super comfortable and supportive and although I did not expect them to be fast, they do feel on the fast side due to excellent energy return of the soles. Will continue updating but very much impressed by these and they make my top 5 list:Next on my list: the Torneo 3. Out of the box I was concerned about the tight fit and the toe box that runs narrow toward the toes ('pointy") but no issues walking around for about an hour. They are soft, comfortable, good lacing, but definitely feel heavier (than the Mizuno WET2) on my feet (around the house). Curious to try them on the court!
Will keep updating as I go
Hello chief! (Head rackets god) Which one would you say is best for clay? We almost only play on caly in Europe... had Vapor Xs loved them, Speed FF2 hated, vapor 11 hated, GR9 meh... looking for the first top three out of you list. Can't choose. Would be great to pick some old leftovers on sale haha.Excellent first 2-hour session in these. They do not feel heavy at all on my feet. Can’t help you with clay buddy. I play exclusively on HC. However, last week I played in Belgrade on red clay in my (completely) worn Cages 4 and it was not prettyHello chief! I would say i liked low to the ground, speed and my foot wouldnt move even a little bit in the shoe because of great lockdown with laces. In FF2 my ankle was flying out of the shoe even with runners knot. With GR9 at the moment i feel like my ankle is moving a little (even that i dont like) and if I tie down 100% with runners knot.... the laces will just loosen to like 70% after 3 mins of game.It would probably be helpful to be specific as to what exactly you loved or hated about those. FF3s (and FF Speed) absolutely killed my Achilles tendonitis.Aside from @Tranqville, any other fellow Achilles Tendonitis sufferers here, with Torneo 3 input, as to whether it was made better, the same or worse?
Currently, my best solution is the Asics Court FF 3 with Move Game Day Pro insoles (thank you @Farbio for the recommendation!), but just curious to see if anyone might think the Torneo 3's could one-up them, specifically for AT. Wouldn't be surprised if the answer is no, but just wanted to check.
Just to be clear, by "absolutely killed", do you mean the FF3's got rid of it, or made it worse?FF3s (and FF Speed) absolutely killed my Achilles tendonitis.
Sorry for the confusion - they made it worse. I tried everything to make them work because I liked the fit, stability and comfort but ended up not able to walk for a week and this happened 3 times, every time I gave them a shot.Just to be clear, by "absolutely killed", do you mean the FF3's got rid of it, or made it worse?
Got it. Thanks for that info, dr. Very interesting. I'm nearing end-of-life on my first pair of Court FF 3's and although noticeably better in almost all ways than the previous Wilson Rush Pro's, which I think heavily contributed to my achilles' issue in the first place, the FF3's haven't been the full help I was hoping they would be. I'm currently looking at both Diadora refreshes, the Torneo 3's and B.Icon 3's, mainly due to Foot Doctor Zach reviewing both so highly, especially the B.Icon's for having such excellent remarks on achilles support and heel lockdown.Sorry for the confusion - they made it worse.
