Diadora Torneo 3

WOW, so many details on the shoes!
While very comfortable and a nice energy return, stable, the shoes are not my favorites. I feel sluggish in them. Not sure what other's thoughts are on the speed of these?

in the last 5 years I tried nearly every shoe in the market, these are the only ones cushioned enough so they don’t cause me knee pain after playing (Nike being the biggest offender here, worst cushioning among the big brands).

I don’t feel any slower in them compared to my previous shoes, the Gel Res 9, so I’m really pleased with the Torneos, just bought my third pair.

good discussion here. any prior ultrashot 3 users that can offer some commentary on these? i see GR9 users like them and that was one my favorite shoes also (until they wear out and cause foot pain lol). looking at perhaps geetting a pair, since these carry a 6-month warranty. just hope they last longer than ultrashot 4 lol

Sadly, these are being sent back to TW.

The medium fit is not as generous as previous gen Torneos. Once the insole was replaced with my prescription orthotics, a majority of cushioning was sacrificed. I mimicked tennis movements on my hardwood floors and did not feel the same responsiveness as with the other gens either. They also felt hard as a rock.

I'll prob stock up on the Torneo 2 wides. If they decide to release a wide version of these, I might consider giving them another go tho.

Can't find the Torneo 2 Wides anywhere in my size. I feel like they may be extinct. Is there any other shoe that fits like the Torneo Wides and has the same level of cushion? Ive been wearing this model for years.

The Torneos are not narrow.
I know people with super wide feet that took the insole out to make them feel wider and ended up regretting it for feeling too wide.

Desperately trying to find something to replace my GR9s. I've got low arch, wide feet (right is wider than left), and a narrower ankle/heel. The GR9 was very comfortable without orthotics and the uppers and midsole seemed to conform to my foot. One downside is I actually think they fit the best as they neared the end durability.

I picked up the Torneo 3s in 9.5 and 10. The 9.5 2E was ideal for my GR9 (after break-in). After wearing both around the house, the 10s have a better width but the 9.5 is a better length.

Has anyone had a proper break in with 4+ hours of court time? If so, how did the shoes adjust? Would love to hear from someone that found the shoes slightly narrow at first to confirm if they continue to break in or if the width remained an issue.

FDZ recommends the Gel Challenger 15
I did see that but quickly ruled it out because it doesn't come in a wide option and asics runs a bit narrow in their D widths. The GR9 2E wasn't even wide enough for me but it worked because of the TPU uppers that stretch quite a bit.

Hello chief! (Head rackets god) Which one would you say is best for clay? We almost only play on caly in Europe... had Vapor Xs loved them, Speed FF2 hated, vapor 11 hated, GR9 meh... looking for the first top three out of you list. Can't choose. Would be great to pick some old leftovers on sale haha.
I have tried the Torneo 3 and Lacoste ultra 23 clay model. Both are good for clay but the Torneo 3 has better grip. Adidas Barricade 13 clay is pretty good too. The Medvedev clay version sometimes is too tight in the heel for me. I have high arches and a wide forefoot. The Lacoste men’s runs 1/2 size small, but the women’s is essentially the same shoe and runs true to size.

As you can see, I bought these as soon as they came out. I was a longtime user of the Torneo 1 and 2 wides. The standard width Torneo 3 lacked midsole and outsole thickness/cushioning that I found complimented my prescription orthotics.

I also did notice that the last was a little curvier than the previous generations.

Thats a shame. That plus I can't fit into the regular Torneos equals a RIP to this incredible shoe for me. Trying out the Kswiss Hypercourt Express 3's.

The new Hypercourts look intriguing. How are you liking them? Curious how supportive they are on court.

Ill let you all know once they show up and I get some time with them. When I get a new shoe that actully fits well, I tend to get happy about it and the weaknesses don't bother me for a while. Such is the case with the latest Bab SFX, a really nice shoe but the support and stability just isn't there.

I can say with the Diadora I never had any issues. Just incredible shoes that fit me well and felt fantastic. It's a real shame I can't wear them anymore.

Checking back in as I’d love to hear your experience with the HC 3’s. They check a lot of boxes for me but there isn’t much online in terms of how they perform or feel. I would have guessed this would be a more popular shoe.

They are not bad. Fit is fine, but not too cushioned or premium feeling. Good back up shoe for me.

I must have posted in a different thread, but I recently ordered a pair of these in the clay version because I love the Diadora Fly 4's I'm currently using and thought that the Torneo 3's looked great. I ordered them in the same size as my Fly 4's but the fit was totally different for me. I was absolutely swimming in them. The TPU cap on top of the toe was also going to be a problem for me because I could tell it was going to dig into the joint at my big toe when my foot was really flexed. I wish these would have worked for me though - I thought they looked really good and I really want to use a clay model for the summer.

The Fly 4s ran a little short so I believe the recommendation was to size up a half size. I know I had to go to a 12 when I'm typically wear a 11.5 in previous diadora models including the fly 3s

The problem isn't just the last length, because the Fly 5s are now listed as different sizes from the 4s. A UK 11 is now a US11, when it was a UK10.5/US11 with the 4s. It's even more confusing now, and I suspect the Torneo 4 will follow suit.
Then you have the toe taper and internal volume differential. The Flys are designed to be sock like fit to work the speed angle. The toe taper is also more pronounced on the Fly 4/5 vs Torneo 3/BI3.
You could try a shoe stretcher with a nub right at that spot to get it to bend differently.

As mentioned, the Fly 3s are 5mm longer than the Fly 4s. That and the toe taper is also slightly narrower.

Time for new shoes, I bought a pair of Torneo 3s to replace my K-Swiss Hypercourt Express 3s. I moved my orthotics over. First wear, the Torneos have more heel slip than the HCE3 at the same stage.
The Torneo has better cushioning and is slightly more comfortable. The heel slippage will probably stop with a little break in and tightening the laces a bit.
I like the feel and fit of the Torneo on par with the HCE3. Both are good choices for me.

Time for new shoes
Already?

Have you tried previous generations of the Gel Resolutions?

From what I remember, people who didn't get heel slippage in the resolutions had heel slippage in the torneos. People who didn't get heel slippage in the torneos had slippage in the resolutions.

Nobody was certain what the reason was, but we suspected it was due to people's arches being good in one but not the other? Anyways if have tried the resolutions and you didn't have slippage, there's a chance the torneos may not work for you.

Not trying to dampen your hopes, but did want to give you a heads up!

These definitely smaller than previous generations. Just tried these on in size 12 and it was too small.

BS4 was US11.5
BS5 was stuck between US11.5 and US12 so I couldn't pick (skipped this generation)
T1=T2= US12
T3=US12.5

Just keeps getting smaller and smaller

My 9.5s fit pretty pretty pretty good.

What happened is the shoe sizing chart just shrank by 5mm, without changing the US/UK sizing. So the shoes became shorter by 5mm. The Speed Fly 5 is a little tighter fitting in the MTP area because of the added TPU protection. Length is still the same as the 4.
Basically any shoe before '23 was 5mm longer when using US/UK sizing.

T1=T2=12US and were the same lengths

T1 was 2022 and T2 was 2023, so it isn't quiteas clear cut as you say.

B.Icon 2 in 2023 was shorter by 5mm than B. Icon 1 though.

The sizing charts from Diadora showed the change in 5mm internal length fit from Torneo 1 to 2, Speed Fly 3 to 4, and B-Icon 1 to 2.

I am running out of the Torneo 1 that I stacked up on (had probably 7-8 pairs, now I have two left). I will probably just switch to Torneo 3. Given the discussion above, what is the conclusion on sizing? In Torneo 1, I use US 11 / EU 45.

If you look at size charts, T3 is now 44.5 but still US11. The US11 is also foot length 285mm instead of 290mm with the T1. My experiences with Diadora Torneo 1-3, Speed Fly 3-5, and B-Icon 1-3 showed Diadora's size charts to be accurate. I moved up ½ size to follow the foot length. I like about 10mm of space between my toes and the front of the shoe. Do the foot sizing, or go to the physical store if possible. Just make sure there is a return policy if you order online.
