Diary of a Demo: Thoughts and Comparisons

During the process, I picked up a VC95 for relatively cheap, and played around with weight configurations. After finding more of my spec sweet spot...I'm gelling with it even more. It feels suited to the game I want to play. So after all that, the VC95 it is. I think I'll try out the new generation for a final showdown, but it will be one of the two. Having weighed demos that were wildly off-spec from most other brands, I'm also glad that I'll be able to buy racquets in confidence that they'll be close to the target.
if you want to open up the VC95 sweet spot put some lead at 3+9. I've done so and it's much better then stock. I've added a leather grip too so my specs are:
weight: 347g
balance: 31.5 cm

the VC95 is an awesome frame

I forget, did you demo the pro staff 97v. 13? For me it has many elements I love about the RF97 in an easier to wield package.

This was an awesome thread and thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I was wondering how did you play with the weight on the VC95 and what worked for you/didn't?
I started with a setup very similar to stecosta's...

...but I found that the leather grip I put on (Fairway) was heavier than I expected. After counterbalancing to get the balance where I wanted it, mine was over 350g, which was definitely too heavy. I went back to the stock grip, and added some weight through the handle via Blutack and lead. I have 4-4.5 grams total in the hoop, and moved it up to 10 and 2. I need some more playtime with this setup, but so far I like it a lot. Current specs are around 343g static, 31.8 cm balance, including overgrip and dampener.

Side question - anyone know a leather or leather-esque grip that adds less weight than Fairway?

I did, and I liked it. I wished for a little more stability, but I imagine a little weight in the hoop would do the trick. If Yonex hadn't snared me, I'd probably pick one up to test it out.

I don't know how much weight Fairway adds as I've TW Private label leather grip on, it is about 8g to the handle and 2+2g at 3&9.

Doing so balance is 31.5cm which I like as I tend to have a more headlight frame.

I've read good things about Gamma Hi-Tech grip being very similar to leather, but I haven't tried it.

That sounds more reasonable. The Fairway added around 13 grams after trimming, which felt excessive. Are you using the 1.5 mm or 1.3 mm thickness?
Great thread! Did you ever try the speeds? Also, is you backhand a one handed or two?
The Speeds are one of the sticks remaining on my list to "someday" try (along with 2021 Radical, Wilson Ultra Pro/Tour, and Prince TT100p). I hit a two-hander, but like many two-handers, I have a pocket one-hander for when I want to look cool :)
