The TF grips ARE rectangular...a lot like Head's.

The Graphene MP is a great all around "pick up and play" racquet. Somewhat different from the prior 315 if u ask me.

I played the Speed 315 16x19 for a good while last year (around 4-5 mos.) and its a very nice racquet. Sweet spot can be a little small and power a little low, but the swingweight, plow and static weight were perfect for me at the time. If I were to use it now, I would go gut mains or full multi to amp up the power some.
Yes, indeed... think the more cushioned Hydrasorb grip I have on my Speeds disguises this a bit. Will put something similarly cushioned on the TF I think.

Absolutely agree - Graph and IG 315 are somewhat different. The Graphene is to me like a relative of the APD. IG Speed 315 is, as you say, slightly lower powered, and there's something more in the particular feel, and with the added length, and with the greater precision IMO.

RE strings, really like full TB in the Graph. There was some multi in the 315 full job which was not my thing. Now has Firestorm @ 48. I'm thinking Tour Bite Soft for next string experiment...

The Speed handles are not rectangular like the rest of the Head line.

For the TF's, just lay some strips of athletic tape longways along the 2 wide parts of the pallet (under the grip), regrip and it will be more rounded (or square).

Stage 1 of Project Unleaded with Techron a success. Stripped one of my Tecs of all lead, and, after getting used to it, really enjoyed the added maneuverability and whippiness. VERY low powered, but I could get my RHS up to negate some of it, and I liked snapping through on angles and changing direction.

Stage 2 next: low tension to see if I can get power from tension rather than lead, while keeping maneuverability.

Have to say I prefer them to the older Head grip shape.

Gads

How low you going on the tension then?
MD talked me out of going super low with a 10 lb. tension drop. Instead I'll go 5.5 lbs lower than normal to 44/45 lbs. Will see how that goes and go lower if necessary.

I've recently picked up 2 Tec 315s (16M) and a Tec 320 (2012 version). I'm happy with both, but I know I'm going to take that Graphene Speed Pro out for a test spin one day. Specs look too nice.

Starting to wonder slightly about the Speed Pro too...

Im starting to think Mike is trolling the crap out of us all.
Swear to god I'm not. I'm going to try the 6.1 one last time today. My shoulder hurt quite a bit last night though.

I know it seems unbelievable that someone can be this scatterbrained. I do have ADD, after all...however I take meds for it.

Seems to have the spin and power of a 16M racquet with the control of an 18M. SW looks good, static weight looks good, no lead needed (for me at least), polarized set-up out of the box...

Snapped up a used Tec 315 today ( big thanks to Jack for the heads up) from TW. I have some Polybreak so either full bed or hybrid is in order once it arrives. I will try it stock but I plan to bring some lead tape along for some on the spot modifications via trial and error.

Just be careful with the peeling off. The paint will come off if you're not slow and careful with it. Could always put electrical tape down as a primer.

Mike, its probably the serve thats doing it, just like muscling a ground stroke if you do that on serve it will kill your shoulder. heavier rackets require better timing and will take some getting used to.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts here. I keep being drawn to this frame but can't get over suspicion it won't be quite my thing, i.e. too demanding...

I didn't think about the serve...you're probably right! Hmm. Because ground strokes feel just fine to me. I guess I need to use more lower body in my serve too. Thanks for the tip. I really don't want to give up on this racket.

When I try out a heavier racquet than what I'm used to I definitely have timing problems with my serve. For me, timing problems means that the racquet lags behind me too much and I get some strain in my shoulder.

I don't believe I'd give up on the 6.1 just yet Mike.

Besides, you said you wanted the racquet to punish you. Like any good racquet, the 6.1 has obliged immediately.:)

Seriously, I'd give it a little more time. If you indeed like the feel of the racquet and how it plays. If it is just a sore shoulder, I mean, and not something that you dislike about the frame.

I think you may be correct.
As a self-proclaimed troll, it would REALLY take some dedication to the trolling lifestyle to set up this extended, multi-month long, racquet confusion scheme. If that's the case, then Mike is the Troll King! Anyone troll come on and start a "modifications are stupid" thread :) :) :) :)...

...but it takes a REAL troll set up this saga!

I'm actually thinking that the Exo3 tour 18x20 would be the end all for me. It's just like the speed pro, even more comfy, and less money. Plus I like stringing ported rackets!

Query for those who live in a cold winter climate: does the thermal lining in a racquet bag make a big difference for frames (tension maintenance, etc) or not really? Or is the thermal lining more for protection against heat than cold?

Man I know you don't like Babolat so...

You must give the Instinct or Speed MP a try. Lightweight, and its not stiff if you hit it in the sweetspot. Any level players can use it. I've seen blue chips use it to low 1 stars... it works.

Or even that Prince racket works.

Nah too expensive man. Going the pacific route. Liked the XForce a lot.

been following this thread the past few days and it's been really entertaining. :)

Mike, if the weight's killing you why not try the Team? or grab an Asian 6.1 95 and lead it up to your liking. i played with an Asian BLX 6.1 for a year and it was a really good stick..

Thought about the team, but I can buy rackets that are cheaper and used so I can return them if I don't like them. For instance, there's a used XForce lite for $105 that I could mod to my liking. It also looks freaking sweet and has really good flex.

Whatever life throws at me, ie- shopping carts, late fees, rabid squirrels, etc.. I'm approaching it with this technique. Feet always off the ground in attack mode.....

i seem to recall the last time you attempted to mod the MG Rad MP, it was a disaster. so i have 1 question, do you even know what you're doing when it comes to modding?

i think this is likely gonna be ugly yet i'll still be eagerly waiting to read about this epic fail.

and it's gonna be a fail because as the others have noted, this has got to be trollin' at its best.

klem! Oh my gosh, where have you been!?... BTW, I, too, fully endorse the technique of approaching life's more vexatious challenges with a feet off the ground and full attack strategy, especially when dealing with the wife or mother-in-law.

Talking of MIA diary regs...

Has anyone heard from FedK of late?...

Following his immersion in the cult of YY and the spate of Nalbandian picture postings passed on from his personal Yonex shrine, said racketaholic visionary and multi-award winning Dairy Thread poster, President of the Nicholas Cage Fan Club, TT's resident skiing expert, seems (if last posts are anything to go by) to have taken up with the dreaded Yoko Fibre. Therefore, concerns are now sky-high here at Racketaholic Towers as to FK's already tenuous mental well-being... frankly, I fear just a gram of lead @ 12 could send him truly into the land of the unhinged. My worries are escalating.

Decided to buy new, actually ;) lead tape along with it too.

Ross I am glad you asked. It is so on between the cult of the YY and Yoko. It is a clash of civilizations. Between chunky comfy grip shapes and oblong funky tk82 nonsense. Sweet spots and forgiveness vs tour prepared laffy taffy addiction. David Falstaff Nalbandian and Martina Cortex Hingis versus Dr. Janko and his hallucinations of William (James)
Blake.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Nalbandian on fire off the shoulder of Federer. I've seen a mint Rd-7 glitter in the dark near the Tannhausser gate. All of these moments will be lost in time. Like tears in rain.

I have scheduled another week with Yoko. It feels dirty but it should tell you something. Don't tell Dave. His ego is massive.

The Citi Open this past week, here in DC, 500 ATP stop. Saw some great matches, got some great pics and close up practice vids. Went 3 days, the monday after qualies, that following wednesday and quarterfinals this past friday.

Try to post some more, takes time, which I don't have as of late. That pic is of, of course, Dimitrov practicing. Which quickly turned into a mob of teenage girls with their mothers, 'oohh'ng and awww'ng'.

Got really close to DelPo practicing. Screamed in Greek 'pame 're Marcos' during his quarterfinal match against Isner. Met Haas, Kamke, JuanMartin, Bernakis, SloaneStephens, Kerber, Baghdatis, and a couple of more I can't recall atm.

In the process of dissecting some videos of backhands, forehands and serves. Taking still shots of every other frame or so, getting a nice 'sequence of moves' thrown together.
