Most tennis bags are too loud and fugly for my taste (I know...says the guy with the fugly Head sticks - they're actually not that bad in person and can be repainted ;)). I also think their price point is a little high compared to similarly priced athletic or outdoor bags that use higher quality materials. I pulled the trigger on this backpack earlier this year and so far no regrets. It can fit 2-3 sticks and whatever random crap I feel necessary to bring with me to the courts that day...or a basketball!

Apparently I'm a bag-aholic also.

Only thing I want sometimes is a backpack instead. The Head radical backpack is a really good sized one. Its great if I want to hop on my bike and ride to some courts or just keep things minimal.
I bought the one from about 3 years ago when it was on sale. I mainly use it when traveling. For example when I fly back to DC/VA in a few weeks I'll take 2 racquets and some clothes in there so I can hit with my buddies back home.

Big fan of the Nike bag. The stand-alone upright option a game changer when clay courting to keep the dirt at bay and the “locker” and top compartment for keys and phone, etc, work great.
I picked that one up on sale as well. It just sits in my closet holding my extra racquets and grips, lead, strings, etc.

My primary is a Prince 9 pack from 4 years ago. I now wish I had the 12 pack. My favorite feature about the bag is that it has a thermal lined pocket at the top that keeps my drinks cold. That's crucial in this Houston heat. Maybe next time I'm at TE I'll see what bags they carry that still have this feature.

When I go minimal I just run a rope through the triangles on my frames and the loop on my water bottle and put the balls in my pockets, turn it all into a makeshift hobo-sack

I don't do this as much anymore as when I was a kid though and anymore I'm more liable to just toss the whole massive thing on while biking or riding a motorcycle. It whacks the back of my helmet in kind of a novel way.

How close to Montgomery County will you be?
Is that where you are? That'd be like Gaithersburg?

I'm from Alexandria but will be staying at a friends place in Springfield this time due to my parents being older and super Covid cautious.

EDIT: We could meet up in Tysons area if you know a place we can play there if you wanted.

Nice. I grew up in Bethesda and my parents still live there so I’m down there a few times a month. My wife and I live in Baltimore.

Ah, Baltimore would be much further. I go visit my parents and friends a few times a year. But it's been a bit due to Covid. Round trip tickets were about $150 (cheapest I've ever seen) so i couldn't resist.

Covid life. I hear ya. Tennis is actually one of the few things keeping me grounded these days. Drop me a PM closer to your trip if you have the ability/desire to sneak in a quick hit. If I happen to be in Bethesda then NoVa isn’t too far.

Got my Pure Drive and strung it up at 53#s with S7T. Ill post a pic of it next to the UT. The takeaway here is that if you want to switch frames on someone midmatch and used these 2 frames, they probably would not notice based on the PJ. They are very very similar colors. New Pd looks really good. The feel so far is promising - crisp but no vibrations like old Babs. Balance appears to be around 3-4pts hl. It swings fast, but feels a little more like 325 than 320 if I had to be precise. Im going to hit without lead on it for a bit and figure out how much I want to add after I log some hours with it - I am guessing 2-3 grams at 12. Weather is a little shaky down here so I will see how it goes.

Definitely has an open pattern but the center of the bed looks dense enough for me to still "drive" the ball. Luckily does not feel like a big difference to swing from the UT in terms of size or shape. I am quite sure the power level will be substantially higher and I will also be able to play this around 4-5 grams and SW points less than the UT.

interesting how frames that look so similar could play so differently
I know. One is low pop, insanely high control, fantastic classic feel. The other is typically the opposite. Hoping the new PD gets a little closer to the control side for me. If so I think they may have a winner with this one. This will be a fun demo session, especially when I get an H22 in the mix.

im also more than a little bit uncomfortable with how similarly we wrap our tourna grips. great minds, i guess.

one thing i noticed about my PD2021 demo, which had a fresh bed of multi, was that i could absolutely slap forehands and overheads. i have never hit such a speedy ball

Mine is 7g over spec but it seems most of that weight was in the handle.

Everyone's commented on the paint job, people really like it. My coworker who was there when I unboxed it, some guy who stopped by to pick up some weightlifting stuff I was selling, and then a totally random couple of girls who were walking by the courts after practice yesterday told me they thought it was pretty

Whoever's been doing babolat's design lately should feel good about themselves - PAVS and PDVS are beautiful too

The gravity tour needs to be demoed. You have made a wise move. Too many good frames out right now. Its seriously great timing for this thread to be resurrected.

so just because i am a holic and it was a good deal. i just bought off of this forum a really nice condition probably 8.5/10 rare k factor 6.1 95 in 16x18. for only $50
i have absolutely no plans on actually using it in match play. but i have always appreciated the build quality of the six one line in particular the delpo k factor.

im glad you are enjoying the 104. its a really underrated stick. if it were 11.5 oz in stock form it would have been a smash even on these forums

Sweet frame. Will absolutely crush the ball. Tough on the arm. Gets a lot of stick on here but the K Factor will always have a place in my heart.

Would you take S7T or TB 1.25 with you if you could only bring one to Necker Island where you shall remain for the rest of your tennis playing existence?
God, that would be a holic's nightmare, lol. Pass on Tourbite for me. The S7T plays a bit more powerful and a lot more comfortable, less jarring. Its crisp on ball contact but feels soft on arm. I've never been a huge Tourbite fan if I am being honest (even though I have played it a lot, had a great cheap hookup). Has fantastic spin, ball bite, not mushy etc, but for some reason never liked the somewhat brassy vibes I always got from it.

My bad - you've definitely made that comparison before I just realized. Thanks...again! I guess the better question would have been S7T or HG?

I like clean, crisp feedback. Still S7T. Hyper G is nice from a performance perspective too and I like it, and if you like a bit softer, more muted sort of a poly that would be the way to go I think. Let's just say this; if second place was to be decided between these three and I could bring only two, Tourbite gets passed on to friends because it isn't making the trip with me, lol

Ay ay, I'll tell Richard to keep the clubhouse fully-stocked with S7T :p.

It's a 6.1 and will bludgeon the ball, period. Enjoy it :)

This has me excited for the S7T I'm ordering. While the Hyper G hasn't exactly died on me yet, it is getting a little mushy on the feel side. If S7T maintains its feel better over time then I could be heading for a switch.

I have a feeling you will dig it ;) - truly don't think I have come across anyone who hates it.

Its worth trying in a few frames. I love it in the ut. Its perfect. It feels nice so far in the pure drive but i need to log some hours there to really know.

Pound for pound best poly out there imo. I mean, its $8. Its crazy.
I was thinking in the UT and the PC600. Not sure for the n6.1.

Love Hyper G and now I'm loving S7T. I think it's gonna be these two strings or bust for me from here on. The stiffer the frame, the more I'd probably lean to Hyper G. The softer, S7T.

Probably best to get some sort of consistency going. I'd stick to S7T and Hyper G. Just pick one of those. I string all my frames with S7T now. Trying a bunch of new frames with all different string jobs seems like a really good way to struggle at tennis - at least for me.
Even though it won't look that good, I'm thinking Hyper G at 48. Why mess with what works right?

One of the reasons why I think S7T will suit the new PD (and I was chatting with @pyrokid about it just now) is because the newer PDs can get somewhat vague and bit too muted so it gets hard to feel the ball on the stringbed at times. S7T I feel is a bit lively and crisp playing, and will let you feel the ball on stringbed better without causing discomfort, especially relevant for those coming off more control oriented frames and setups used to more touch and feel. Also I know it lasts decent amount of time, tension maintenance is nice and it isn't jarring on the arm; all things you basically want in a PD.

One of my hitting buddy has the new PD (same one I tried myself recently) and I'm pretty sure he has ordered a reel of S7T yesterday. Will be sure to try the setup out myself if/when he strings that up.
