I am making a slight adjustment with my new frame. I took out the 3.5g under the butt cap. It’s a bit over 329g now and 32.9 cm balance. I’ll see how that goes
Hmmm, i don’t think I would like that balance with the OH. But who knows, the thing swings easy, that thin beam helps.

It feels pretty good, I sense more whip even. Court time will tell if this is true or I’m imagining things

It's weird as I definitely like the slight tilt towards the head on the forehand. It helps encourage a looser wrist and lag. But I run into trouble on the OHBH if I get below 6pts. But these are like pirate codes - more guidelines than rules.

Remember the BP? really high SW and 340g with 33cm balance. Felt fabulous on 1hbh. I really don't know of any secret for the 1hbh. It sometimes works really well on certain frames and not others regardless of similar specs. Generally speaking seems to work better with thinner beams and smallish head sizes 95 or even 98. A little less so on 100s but works just fine on zus or even the dope

Chatted with Greg…. Working up specs for the 2nd ZUS, haha. Also, I’m pretty sure the one I have will never make it to the demo pool.

@Nollid - I did make sure he has others in the mix so I’m not breaking the system or anything :).

My bag now has a TB and a ZUS racket in it as of today. 2 racket man for a few weeks. Let these bad boys have fun hanging out together before it gets bloody.

I think so. I really like the feel of it… plus I can always order a leather later on from TW. Greg was telling me how they roll the leather to help with the adaption for people coming from ‘broken in’ grips. The synth grip is one of the better ones I have used on a racket. And I’m just digging the feel of this thing so much I don’t want to mess with the formula.

I have some time to decide, I’ll sort it out this week. I think Greg said you have the fairway leather on all of yours?

Yes, but to be honest that is one thing i didn't like with this roller on the leather. It flattens the wide side a bit too much. I am actually thinking about changing them but they add 25g to the handle so keeping the racquet at original spec will be tricky

That’s what I was thinking. I can tell you the synth grip is pretty fantastic and fairway from TW is always available. You can cut them a little shorter to match weight if you get a new fairway. I’m not that bevel sensitive anyway, so grips are something I don’t stress about very much. I have plenty of other things that I stress out about, haha.

Its a good idea. In my case when I take off the leather i have to add to the handle the difference between the 25g leather and maybe 16g syn to the handle in a distributed fashion. This is just to have it back at spec 305/320

You should see if they can take off the pallet and add weight into handle system. Or maybe that isn’t as easy as it sounds and more trouble than it’s worth. Or get one of those XL fairways for 20 bucks and just pretend it was a glass of wine at a good Chicago restaurant, lol.

Yep, that would be my preferred solution if i go to PU.

UPS shafted me and I will get the PT2.0 tomorrow. Probably won't get a chance to hit with it until Weds/Thurs I am guessing. bummer.

I couldn't resist the PT2.0 when it first came out and tried it out. Truly lovely classic stick but i couldn't see myself taking it into match play and sold it off. Do not regret that decision but i get the sudden PT2.0 fervor

More time for the butter to soften.

I've added a capped version to my recent spree. 120 for a newbie. Couldn't ignore this, and besides the uncapped pair is apparently on the back of a turtle, with no update in the tracking movement for a week. Tapping my foot.

looking forward to your review of the uncapped vs capped PT 2.0. have had spare mg radical grommets for a while but i've only hit with my pt 2.0s twice..on factory strings. the stock CAPS is a whole lot of racket for a very little amount of skill in my hands.

If it plays like my Pt280, it will be the same sentiment for me.

If it plays a bit easier though, I think I can take it into battle. A lot of people seem to think at first that it's too much racquet and then a few weeks later it ends up being a match stick. So you never know.

It's a lot of racquet, but also a tremendous teaching tool given the feedback and not being able to get away with accidental murder as with more powerful modern frames. UT is also great in this, and still easier to wield. Recently in my hitting sessions I've gotten to really appreciate this kind of tooling, but if I were waist-deep in league matches then I'm not so sure I'd be messing around with such sticks as much as I am. But I'm on such a run of good play with these bad boys I'm just letting it ride. The capped PT coming my way has a 323 swingweight with the factory Lynx in there, but I'm having that replaced with Lynx Tour/Element.

ah man. at least it’s better than last year holidays when everything was so jammed up. all the carriers seem to be a day or two late, but not worse than that. unless you’re moving container loads then you’re Fd. still…. i’m starting to root for the grinch. damn who’s and all their consumerism. sarcasm, i’m the worst.

agreed there. the UT is unique in that while it's easier to swing, you really need to learn to generate your own power whereas the PT 2.0 just gives you some power purely from the SW. it also doesnt help that the one i used came in at 338 sw, which is why i got the radical grommets in the first place. your 323 sw one sounds like it'll be awesome though. just love the balance and weight distirbution of the head PT/prestige and wilson pro staff frames .

Oh wow, so you got an especially thick one. In the TWE batch sent my way today, listed SWs with the prestrung Lynx were 323, 323, 325, 326, 327, 334. I honestly don't know if I can fully trust the TWE sw machines, as the samples now on different frames seem to be continually coming up lighter in Europe than in the US, or perhaps there exists a conspiracy of frame companies sending their more porky frames to America, but nonetheless I'm going with the 323. to hopefully maximize playability here. I suspect with the thicker Lynx Tour/Element setup, real SW will be 325-328, which is right about where the uncapped sticks coming my way are estimated to be as well. No idea what the SW is on my friend's that I've been playing with, but it definitely feels up there, yet I've been able to handle it well and play 'up' to the racquet. A far bigger test will be to see how this frame handles some clay tennis. That's where the 100-inch forgiveness of the PKs typically is leagues above everything else for me. I suspect the modded Synth coming my way will also be great in that grinding-clay regard. But we'll see. These things have to be worked out in the lab.

Same here. Grabbed a couple sets of Mayami Magic Twist as I await BK 1.23 coming back in stock as I’m down to my last set.

Anybody whose playing Doppio and/or used BK 1.23 and liked it have any other string suggestions? Never played Magic Twist before but seemed to be in the same general ballpark of BK.
Mayami Black Friday purchase arrived today. Went to open the two sets of Magic Twist I ordered and found two reels instead. Checked the credit card statement first to confirm it was indeed a Christmas miracle. Now let’s hope I like it because I’ve never tried it before!

Haha, i had almost opposite happen to me. I grabbed 8 sets of big spin during the sale and received the package today. It only had one pack inside  I emailed and they'll send me the rest

Yeah may have been for the best as i had another nice outing with the dunlop. I am really consistent with my groundstrokes with this thing. Heavy, good shape on the ball.

Its gonna be tough to knock this thing off. I know one thing, im definitely going to string the PT at 46 even though its new. This sounds like a mid 40s frame to me.

The Case for the UT/UP18

I watched the fastest shots of 2021 video that ATP TV published out yesterday. 30% of the top 10, including number 1, were shots coming of the H19. While many shots in the video were 101-105MPH, once yoyu got to the top 5 they increased pretty quickly - with the fastest being 190KPH (118MPH). We all know that the H19 is a softer version of the UP18 which means the UP18 should have a bit more power. Moral of the story, if you want more power get a UP. It's obviously the racquet (it's why we're here), and not that Monfils has huge power and energy.

I don't know what the typical specs say, but the H19 I tried actually felt firmer than the UT. That's what surprised me about that hit, and of course mine was just one and who knows how many variations of it exist, but I was told that indeed the h19 tends to be a little crisper than the UT. But yes, the UT is absolutely capable of producing rifle shots. The sweet spot can really sing when you get it tuned just so.

Speaking of which, I'm wondering if indeed it's a failed grommet that was causing the ping sound on one of my UTs recently. Wanted to take a picture of it but it was so hard to focus in on just the suspicious grommet but will try again.

Agree here.

How does everyone here prefer to try new racquets? Buy/resell, demo from TW, demo local?
Before I started stringing, I would have said demo from TW or a local shop. Now, I buy frames and go through several stringings with them before I decide to keep or sell.

I've been doing continued hitting with the PPT and Lynx Tour. I quite literally can't make a decision between the two of them. PPT has the extra spin to it which is so nice to have the lean on when I'm getting aggressively into the point. But Lynx Tour has overall better comfort and touch on shots when I really need it.

Surprisingly, I haven't really enjoyed S7T in the Dreamsicle the way that I thought I would.

Serious shout out to the Briffidi machine. TW customizer measured 296 unstrung for my PT 2.0. It just showed up and I measured on the Briffidi for the exact same SW. This thing is a serious game changer.
I couldn't agree more. Best purchase I've made this year. Worth every penny and then some.

Oh, awesome feedback! I’ve never hit a ‘real’ H19 but I have seen some on the pro stock site as high as 65 strung RA, and maybe as low at 59ish? Thanks for sharing.

Just removed all the lead in the hoop of my strung UT. Strung with element 1.25/outlast 1.25, the SW measured 302. Going to add (2) 8” strips of lead to each side from 8-11 and 1-4 and see what that gets me to.
Woah that is a low swingweight! Is that about 270 unstrung?

New setup with only lead from 8-11 and 1-4 gets me 319 SW. :)

do i need more ultra tours? i need more ultra tours.
The answer for me is clearly 'no.' So I call my friend I sold mine to (two states South, mind you) to see if I can have them back. He told me to state a price, and he'd agree. That type of compliance threw me. I've ignored him since. Days ago. These were fat ones. None of the other 5-6 played like those. What a crazy cycle.

Why get a UT when you can have a PT 2.0? Actually I don't know which is better but the 2.0 won't need lead, which is nice.

My strung specs with OG - 342 grams, 328 SW 6 pts HL balance.

All I can say off the bat is that the feel bouncing the ball off of this thing is perfection. The rest I will figure out over the next few weeks.

Also love stringing frames with CAP grommets. Anyone who strings probably appreciates that "snap" sound when the string locks under the cap and holds the string in place while you tie it off.

i dont like the grip shape of the pt 2.0 and i like the head shape of the UT better than the PT. but those differences are really quite minor aside from the lead you have to add to the UT.
