Yeah thats what mine weighs. If the SW is not too bad, it will sing.
It didn't feel cumbersome or clunky at all yesterday. Not quite as fast as the Rad but not sluggish at all.

I know I should get a Briffidi. But I'm still in protest mode until he makes an Android app for it.

Its not a great double frame honestly. I much prefer it for singles. I can play 3 sets with no issues with in singles, but thats just me.

GPro feels very connected to me once I put a thinner base (leather in my case) grip on it. I think the Hydrosorb robs a little feel. The Radical is crisper though, but I find the GPro a lot more comfortable and buttery.
I actually really enjoyed it in doubles but I can see what you're saying. It's not exactly the fastest racquet to use.

I have new grips coming in today. Unfortunately, Wilson seems to be struggling pretty badly about getting product to people so I had to opt for the Babolat Syntec Team instead of the Feather Thin. The Hydrosorb is one of my least favorite grips ever. Way too squishy and impacts feel a lot.

My juicy zusy came back just in time with a fresh bed of Hit Pro. Round string, great comfort, softish, good power and yet control is there. Fun to serve with for sure and gave me more pop on serve and placement was quite good. Felt comfortable with it all around and i did not hesitate taking my shots. Lovely on serve returns!

Fun morning an all out super close two sets 5-7, 7-5 than i edged him out in a tiebreaker 7-4. Last two serves in the breaker were mine and had an ace right down the line on the deuce side then a hard slice to the backhand on the ad side he couldn't return. I have to get my act together, loose weight and gain fitness phew. :X3:
Interesting on the Hit Pro. I’ve not found the Zus to be very string sensitive as the control is just there no matter the string. But I like the idea of a round string for it, it doesn’t need a shaped string to carve the ball.

Great win man. The Zus is a serving beast and that’s a fun way to end a tight match!

Yeah on the string sensitive question, i didn't know to be honest. When i got my first ZUS, Greg strung it up for me with one of their strings. A round poly with a higher stiffness and very good control. It was fine but a little too stiff for the 70RA so switched to BK and have been playing BK since. So this was a good experiment! And now Mayami sent me a 30% code as if i don't have enough strings :X3: I'll probably grab a few more Hit Pro

I can see that. A stiff string at 50+ tension would be a bad fit for this. I’ve been using different softer polys so that’s the caveat. Did you use the 16 or 17 Hit Pro?

17 which is 1.25 @51lbs. I hope tension loss will be ok. String is a bit lighter then BK 1.23. It reduced weight and SW dropped from 331 to 329

its been a pretty cool day, felt like Christmas again.. lol

Snowwhite arrived today - it still sparkles and in a pristine condition throughout. it has taken me quite a long time to track one down, growing up in the 80's/90's wanting one. i think this will go straight into the storage bag, for now.

i think the old school YY butt cap is pretty cool, too.

People seem to sleep on the GTour on these boards for some reason, but it's a great frame. The GPro is indeed a solid option for people that like heavier setups and/or pure baseliners but the Tour is a much more versatile and easy to use frame IMO. My plan is probably to have both in my bag at some point.

On that subject, as a Head newb - do all Heads use pallets? Looking for a 2nd hand GPro and Tour, and would have more options if I can just buy a smaller grip size and swap the pallets (L4 grips seem few and far between).
I started looking into the G Tour when the thought crept in that the G Pro was a tad bit heavy. Seems like a viable option. Can anyone chime in- does it have a similar feel to the G Pro?

Love it when old tech becomes new tech, talking about the recessed grommets at 12, very similar to the new Vcore! Cool looking racquet. :)

Head seems to have created its own version of the Doppio with the as-of-now-Euro-only Prestige MP-L (EuroPrestige? ... Murray99? ... Andy’sParty?) Granted, our demo came in 10g over spec, head-heavy on the balance side, and so some grip/bottom weight was needed. Once that was done (and later some hoop weight), frame is Doppio like in that you can rally all day long with it, it imparts onto the ball what's on your mind, spin it or drive it, and it has some surprising gears when you rev things up a bit out on the open road. Also like the Doppio, the feel here leaves a bit of wanting. This doesn't really feel like a Prestige, and certainly not like the other more classic Auxetics I've tried. More firm here, a touch buzzy. I’m not a dampener player anymore, yet I found myself preferring this one with a dampener. Serves also seemed to have less pop than the frame did on the ground, but I only took a very few.

Sir Andy, who was in the mood for something more forgiving and was apparently given six frames to test, then whittled those down to three, and finally chose this one to take for a longer spin (and is now back with it in Australia), surely has the golden one in hand: this mold, but with a PT57A layup. I'd kill for some of that. Alas, I appreciate what Head has done here. Will give it some more hits to scratch the boredom while awaiting the return of my dearly beheadeds (PTs).

Second frame in our demo box: the Dunny 200 Tour 16x19 partner has long been itching to try. Wasn't really enamored by anything on the first pass, was just kind of ok for me (as most Dunlops tend to leave me feeling), and mainly because I was dumping way too much into the net. But when we added lead in the hoop, and after I came back around to it at the end of a hard session (and thus was in that relaxed, F-it wailing mode), that's when I had an excellent 10-15 minute spurt with it to close and saw the charm. Although it has an open pattern, better to really hit through the ball with it, it seemed. Spin it too much, and the ball would dump short. Good feel, if a little on the muted side. Knifing slices, whip, really poppy serves (serves way more poppy than groundies, it seemed). Framed twisted in hand a bit too much for my taste on off center hits in hard hitting. Would need yet more weight to help that. Overall, I see why those who like it like it. It's a stick one can get creative with.

Both frames have something. On first pass, I would guess the Prestige has more of that something for me personally, probably because it's pretty PK like in many behavioral ways, but I already have PKs (and on first pass I would take the Top Banana or 7G feel over the MP-L, not to mention the key added length). So these aren't sticks I could see myself wanting in full, but they are sticks I'll enjoy hitting again (and maybe with further mods) before they need to go back.

The MP-L I’m hitting with right now hits a pretty big ball on the backhand wing. Serves are also great with this one, but more forehand isn’t as good as the UP. Volleys are about the same.
They’re also modded the same for what it’s worth

How's the feel on yours? Ours was set up with what appears to be a new bed of Lynx Tour. If it were me I'd hybrid it with Element or even go full Element to bring out more silk. Good to hear you're serving well with it - I only popped off a few and couldn't quite find any magic but like I said, only a few and probably was off because my timing wasn't quite down with this one. Backhands were indeed awesome. Only thing is I'd wish for a longer handle for the two hander.

It’s got Head gut mains and head hawk rough crosses. That plus the weight probably helped. It’s also got silicone in the handle which seems to help with the vibrations.

I finally got the chance to really put the GPro through the paces last night as I got together with some of the guys from my league group. Against the stronger hitting, I could see some things that need to be worked on or adjusted if this frame is to get top spot consideration.

The weight and the profile of the frame mean that it is not as fast through the air as some of the frames I've played with most recently. The VC95 was around the same weight but it felt lightning fast on the swing. The GPro does not have that luxury and I found myself hitting late a lot at the beginning of the session. The Dreamsicle feels faster through the air even though it has a similar profile, but it is almost 10g lighter. I ultimately found the groove after I started getting turned and prepped earlier. When I started doing that, it felt like I was able to use the added heft of the racquet to my benefit, which was definitely a nice advantage.

I'm continuing to enjoy how solid this frame feels on groundies. Getting into heavier hitting, I could really feel the response from the frame and the stringbed. It's stupid comfortable and I felt more connected to the ball (I also switched out the Hydrosorb for a Syntec Team which helped). I also found myself surprised by how the racquet reacted on certain shots like the low ball that you have to basically scoop up off the ground. I not only got the net clearance but also enough spin to keep it in the court. And the backhands are pretty amazing with this frame too. I think it has something to do with the head shape and if you manage to get contact just a touch higher up in the stringbed, it really sings. The GPro also does not feel as jarring as the Rad if you get outside the sweet spot.

The only issue I'm still finding with the GPro at the moment is depth. It definitely does not have the same level of pop that I've become accustomed to. It will take a little bit of adjusting to swinging bigger more regularly to get the consistent depth I've been used to. But the versatility, stability, and potency of this frame are excellent.

My depth control is a huge love factor with the GP. The reason is because I can swing with less energy and hit a very consistent , deep ball. That's what I have needed as I tend to overhit at times and that kills me. So less energy expended then with a Vc95 to hit the same shot, but thats just my experience.

I will say that in an odd twist I have been enjoying shorter grips for my 2 hander. I found that with my YYs, I was separating my hands a little so my left hand could grip the beam more. For whatever reason that seems to get my grip locked in on my 2 hander and I hit cleaner and through the ball more. Really noticed it on the Dunlop where I started off slowly hitting a bigger 2hander, but now can hit rockets with it. So on the GP, I don't find myself wanting a longer grip anymore. I do notice a difference with the longer grips though in terms of how the frame seems to swing through contact with a little more weight on It (top banana, great example of this), but over time I have found that it doesn't really matter anymore - I get the same driving power either way. But what does seem to matter for me is that confidence I get when my grip is locked in, since I know exactly what the racquet face is doing on the take back.

Anyway, just something I have found as my backhand has gone from a shoveling, high defensive topspin shot to a driving weapon over the course of 2 years of working on fixing it.

Session with the coach today. For kicks I began with Grandpa 7G, but something wasn’t exactly right and I switched back to the uncapped PT halfway in, and it was surprisingly night and day. With the exception of some racquet face forgiveness with the larger head, quality of ball and consistency just significantly up with the PTs. I continue to be amazed at the brilliance of this beauty. It’s just my jam.

Will be interesting in what final specs you settle on with the frame. I am real curious what Balance/weight/SW you end up digging.

Hopefully you end up with the PT XL’s, so you can sell me 2 standards (cause 6 are way too many;). If however you end up with the standards, that would be great as well. My estimation then is, you would throw the doppio more often in the mix to gain some more forgiveness and power !!

the guy is a mad scientist... he is talking about high 310s in PT2.0... never heard of... blasphemous...
Ha. The high 3teens is something I’ll try with the other for kicks but probably won’t hold. The one that got it done today is the one that’s been getting it done mostly, which presently is at 337ish grams (slapped an overgrip on there today and need to measure) and 324sw with the new 18g ice code (ice code isn’t bad, but not better than Lynx tour/element which feels def better, and with that setup I was at a 326ish sw on this one)

Nice. Real close specs to mine. Is black knight 1.23 an option in this frame, feelwise? Im goinf to try typhoon 1.23 in my gp to see if the SW drops.
Typhoon is beastly in 18x20s btw.

Definitely could be epic. The PT does not strike me as being string sensitive though and something where only a few types will work. Feel like a lot will work on this one because the base frame is solid and smooth in spite of its crispness. Even though this ice code is not ideal, it’s still perfectly playable and still the whole package is like heaven compared to most sticks. (Or at least today it was like heaven going from the 7g to the PT - and I don’t even consider the 7g to have a bad feel at all) ... I just know I’ll try one more new combo - TB/GhostW - as well as Black Knight at some point, but may end up back to LT/Element. I also know the NXT/ALU feels and plays great in it too. Really think many combos can work here. String freedom.

I finally got ahold of the once beloved PK q5 pro (2019). I’m late to the game, I know. I can see why it gained a following. It combines things that are often taken as opposites— it’s super stable for its weight, but somehow it can do this while still being relatively headlight and whippy. It’s probably a bit less whippy than my 2019 vcore pro 310 but it is quite a bit more stable. The frame really surprised me on volleys. I didn’t expect it to be so solid, especially since my frame is a bit under spec (only 305gm unstrung).
I also really like the 16/20 pattern, nicely in-between the vcp, which has a much higher launch angle, and the super dense Pt2.0 that I had been using regularly earlier on.
Easy to use, really fun frame.

I think the beefier dopes are the super special ones… not static as mine were all 305-307 … but SW. I had two 328 and 329 SW and one 324. I preferred the two beefier ones They certainly play stable and yet still whippy. Just super frames.

Where something like the ZUS beats them is just way better feel, more serve pop, more control (maybe due to feel) and a bit more versatility. Which is saying something as the Dope 16x20 bed is absolutely stellar. I’ll hit the Dope again soon.

Its been a crap week for tennis as I popped a positive on a Covid test. Trying to be an empathetic human vs an A hole - thus staying away from other humans. Lol. So logical it hurts. Anyway, back on the courts next week I hope.

Ha- amazing. They were killing me to the point I set up a telehealth call with a Mayo doctor and she gave me an inhaler and Flonase. The Flonase had an immediate impact. Ugh, feel better buddy. GF had it a 2nd time over new years. Her first time it kicked her butt for 2 weeks before it started easing off. Second time by 5th day she was feeling better. Don't know if due to second time or omicron milder than delta. I am vaxxed and boosted but still very lucky I've avoided it so far.

Yeah, I only had one doppio that was 326SW everything else was less and I still had a bit of lead on it and that one was my favorite.

Yep. Day 11 for me is team tennis so unless I have a setback I will be out there. I would imagine it would be much worse without the vaccine, so I can't complain too much.

@tim-ay sorry to hear you’re sick. Hopefully when you’ve gotten over the virus, you’ll also be cured of your rackaholism, too. Fat chance that’ll happen though.
Haha. The ZUS has a better chance of curing it. But there are always going to be frames I want to hit. We’re all cursed with the ‘holic gene.

Yeah , I can’t imagine facing this thing without the vaccine and booster. I felt enough to know that it’s a virus not to take lightly. Having just a few days of symptoms vs. weeks , I fully give credit to the vaccine for that.

I thought of you over in the Clash thread about the new 98 having a 16x20 pattern. I will definitely hit that. Figured you are the only other main ‘holic that would - maybe @JOSHL also. I always have liked the 98… a 16x20 could be real good.

Ha- amazing. They were killing me to the point I set up a telehealth call with a Mayo doctor and she gave me an inhaler and Flonase. The Flonase had an immediate impact. Get well soon! Hope you are able to catch some tennis on Tv.

I have about 2g total at 2 and 10 on mine (unstrung 306g and 297 SW), but wondering if maybe some at 12, or more at 2 and 10, to reach the beef pinnacle that makes this sing even more. For the beefcakes out there, where and how much have you leaded up?
