Thanks for the advice, I can only speak to the p17 but I also preferred that feel to the v7 blade.

Not worried about the stiffness, the wrist pain back them seems to be from going too hard suddenly. I do have some issues with my serves causing me golfers elbow type pain but I’ve identified why and slowly fixing my service motion. I tend to overpronate through the elbow instead of through my shoulder. If I’m consciously avoiding pronating hard through the elbow I feel no pain, it’s just sometimes in a match I forget and go back to bad technique.
The phrase "pronate through the elbow" is giving me phantom pain in my elbow tendons, I hope it gets figured out!

Allegedly the P17 was a little less plush, and less damped.

Big help on the backhand for me. I am still getting it dialed in, but it basically showed how much racquet drop I actually need there instead of just going by feel and instruction. It is very hard to teach yourself the right swing path even with coaching.

The benefit for experienced players is that if you don't have a weapon off both sides (most don't, some pros even don't) you can work on your weaker side and dial in a topspin swing path which will allow you to swing faster with confidence under pressure.

I had looked at it in the past but this just sold me on it. It's interesting that Amazon has it for $169 while the TopspinPro site is asking $139.

yes that is similar to the UK pricing also (yes, i checked out even though it is a gift... lol)
it costs 129 pounds from Amazon UK with next day prime delivery, while the Topspin Pro site is 109 pounds incl. free delivery, but i think it'd take between 5 to 7 days.... so i guess the extra is for those wanting a faster delivery time (both from the exact same store, btw)

Amazon has gradually crept prices up while nobody was looking in a very Walmart-esque way - they cornered the market for most everything, and once everyone stopped looking elsewhere for things they just bumped prices. Everyone kept buying there out of habit/convinience.

Check it out next time you're shopping there, most of the time I don't have a problem finding things for cheaper elsewhere now.

The reason topspin pro and other DtC brands will sell cheaper on their site is because Amazon owns the customer info and not them if you buy there. So it is worth it to them to take a price cut so they can get all your info and market to you directly post-sale.

Amazon is basically seen as a necessary evil to many direct to consumer brands.

True. I always shop around for the best deal. I think maybe once or twice Amazon offered a cheaper price, but I must say their customer service is pretty good if you have faulty/return/replacement items.
it is also good option for me is I forgot a certain event and I needed gift at a short notice - in that case, I just need to suck up the price they have. Lol

Can I ask - for the eZone 98, apart form the head size..... how does it compare against the 100? In terms of the sweet spot and playability? Obviously the 98 may not as tweener as the 100. Thanks.

I have not played the Ezone 100 but I did a pretty detailed comparison of the Ezone 98 vs the Extreme Tour about 5-10 pages back in this thread if you are curious. In short: very playable, very comfortable, surprising amount of pop for a sub-320 SW racquet, head looks and plays bigger than a typical 98. Build quality is second to none and the pair I had was also identical in terms of spec variance. Definitely had seller's remorse so I picked up a batch of the 98L version (285 gram) so I can add 15-20 grams and distribute it the way I want to since the standard 98 was too handle heavy and not enough weight in the head for me. Seems like Yonex got the weight distribution and comfort down perfectly for the 100 based off of the stellar reviews by @Power Player and @AA7.

Spent some time with the 2012 PD and the Gravity MP (modded) this weekend. Both frames are really good tweeners with the nod going to the Gravity MP.

The 2012 PD is excellent but it just goes through strings too quickly. In about 3-4 hours, the string job of Typhoon 1.25/Iontec black 1.25 was completely shot. After 2 hours, the mains had stopped snapping back already but the strings still played fine. By 3 hours, the typhoon mains were badly notched and the crosses were so badly shaved that they had been turned into flat strips of fettuccine. The string bed had bagged out having lost all its elasticity and transmitting harshness through the frame.

In contrast, the Gravity MP also tweenerish in response and ease of use is so much gentler on strings. I’m going on 6+ hours and the Lynx tour 1.30/RS Lyon 1.25 is still very playable. Anyways, the tail weighted Gravity MP is a hoot to play with. Great stick. It’s earned a permanent slot in my bag now.

Thank you Sir - I know recall some talk about the 98 before. I get what you meant by too handle heavy - thanks for the suggestion of the 98L as able to redistribute more weight towards the top of the hoop would be ideal for me too.

Very nice, what tension are you stringing your hybrids? I have pretty favorable views of both Lynx Tour (I was on their playtest and tested multiple gauges) and RS Lyon (was my go-to string for a long time). Used to play RS Lyon 1.25 a lot in my TC100 days. Haven't played with the other hybrid you mentioned. How does it play?

I strung it at 48/46 and it plays very well. I like to use RS Lyon as a cross with a structured main. Lynx Tour is a solid offering for sure. No complaints about it.

I used Iontec in the 2012 PD because the PD is such a stiff frame and Iontec is softer but still offers excellent control. Also I have half a reel left that i just realized I had. Lol. But it’s a good match for the frame.

Speaking of RS Lyon, where are you getting it from? IK TW used to have it but not anymore I guess. Want to try it out.

I liked it so much that I purchased a couple of reels of the stuff a long time ago so I’m just using up my inventory. It is great as a cross with so many different strings like Diadem Solstice Pro, Volkl Cyclone, Solinco Tour Bite, Solinco Hyper G, Head Lynx Tour, Tourna Silver 7 Tour... :)

I have been getting mine from Stringers World across the pond ever since TW stopped carrying it. Great price per reel too. Hat tip to @Power Player who told me about that place back in early 2018. They only have 1.25 at the moment though. I might grab a reel as I'm almost out too, but I have so many other strings in the stash I use now, plus I've been super lazy.

@Power Player Thanks for mentioning the top spin pro! I'm going to pick one up for my son. You know, so that I can help him learn to use it.

Holic wise, I've really been jiving with the UT/UP. Since this is wilson's response to the Prestige I've decided maybe a I need a Graphene Touch MP Presitge. I like the graphics of that particular model and they're really cheap. I feel I owe it to the UT to see where it derived in some way. Not looking to make a change, but just something to hit around with.

Anyone here compared the ezone100 to the 98 version ? I know there's a thread of ezone and will dig into it, but ezone is hot right now in this thread amongst connaisseur.

I have played with both, and for me there clearly is no advantage going with the smaller head size.

So I may just bite the bullet and order 2 new EZones next week. I've seen like two used ones and they're going for 180+. Guess that speaks pretty strongly for the frame.

You are using 4 1/2, aren't you? Otherwise you could have bought my EZ (4 3/8 unfortunately).

Both are easy to play with but the Ezone 98 to me feels like it needs weight in the head but the 100 does not. The 100 has a bigger sweetspot.

Nice, cool to see others grabbing this device. If you have someone that you want to teach tennis to, I think it's awesome. If it's just you in the house it will probably be nice for 10 minutes of stroke practice a day and is better than shadow swinging, imo.

Thanks! Just came back from the store to buy some goodies. I looked at the 98 and 100 demos. Even if the 100 has 6 main vs 8, it looks like it's not that much more open than the 98. 98 is still a bit tighter but not much.

Wait.. you switched??
Nah. Just in the bag for now, not even sure why they're there honestly. Second one arrived late because of overseas shipping. Had purchased it back when I got the first one, just arrived late. I'm going to be cleaning out bag soon and thinking about just carrying a backpack with 2 racquets and gear for the rest of the year since I won't be hitting as much. Clashes will go in the closet then.

Speaking of bags I am still intrigued by the Yonex Pro Stand and the Wilson Pro Staff 9 pack. Tough decision there.
I have the wilson pro staff 9 pack. I do not recall ordering it.. it was one of those times where everything got blurry... and I blacked out and...must have clicked a bunch of buttons... next thing I know I have an order verification email in my inbox... i just thought it looked so damn cool and it was black so it could be completely racket agnostic. it's a pretty neat bag... i just did not need the damn thing. havent' touched it yet. first I need to find the racket then I can go on a bag bender.. haha... but I agree with @Faris that yonex blue is cool as hell too... decisions decisions...

The fact that it stands is really cool.

LOL! Yeah I love the black wilson bag plus they separated the compartments as well.

May boil down to which one is less bulky and easy to cycle with. They probably are both fine for that too though.

I gotta say - if it weren’t for you guys I’d have more money. But also, if it weren’t for you guys I wouldn’t know about some of the coolest things on the market. All in all, thanks I think haha

I just demo'd and bought a Gravity Pro, I thought i'd love the Tour model since I was looking for something lighter than my 11.8 oz Babolat. The Tour felt squishy but I loved the teardrop shape so I tried a Pro. It was beautiful.

What are everyones favorite strings with it?
my last deep dive into strings was 8 or 9 years ago when I was looking for more depth. any recs?

guys - the Ezone we are talking about, is that the latest 2020 version or mix of 2020 and the last generation - are there any major difference/new technology being used, or is it a PJ update ?
reason i ask is because i think there is a previous generation 98L i found online at a much lower price of the 2020 version..... :X3:

The last version (5th gen) Ezone line played quite different and pretty average in my opinion. Coming from 4th gen DR line in general, the 5th gen Ezones had big shoes to fill. The last gen felt stiff, flexed weird, wobbled more (didn't feel stable) and had a smaller sweetspot. It just didn't feel good overall. Compare that to the current 6th gen Ezone and the new one is closer in feel and feedback to DR line. If you have played with DR line you know how awesome that was. The current one feels smoother and hits sweeter. Definitely not just a PJ update :) - I've played with 100 and 98 both. Haven't played with 98L but I don't think that will be any different.

Hey esm I used the last ezone 98 for full year before moving on. Definitely not as good as new one. Don't mean to sound like Im one of those who get wowed by new tech but 2020 is definitely more advanced. Biggest thing for me was feel and last one felt stiff. I just played with last one because I had a hookup and got 3 frames for almost free due to previous sponsorship. It was a weird sort of a frame, ezone lines are supposed to me easier to play but that one felt like it had a small sweetspot and anything outside was just a bad feel. Not jarring per se but didn't feel good. Wasn't as stable in stock form too. Overall I'd say pass for sure.

thank you - more food for thought.
reason i asked about the 98L was because @gutfeeling made a good point yesterday about the HL balance, as the 98L will allow me/us to add more weight towards the hoop to get abit more HH.... hence the Q. thanks
