Did Novak's mom really told Roger that his time is over?

My point is, what Djokovic's mom said was tactless and classless. I have trouble seeing one argument that shows that saying Federer is "dead" (even metaphorically) is not disrespectful. Perhaps you can think of one?
Because she was not saying Federer was actually dead she was talking about tennis, disrespectful, yes, classless perhaps, but your no better by calling her that because now your judgemental which is both disrespectful and classless; we may not say that based on our morals but she did...so what, its really not that big a deal, its what she thought and she said it, congrats to her for not caring what people will think about it and speaking her mind, federer can handle it(his life is pretty good if his bigest worry is such a comment)

By that argument I could say you are being judgemental towards me by calling me disrespectful and classless, and that would be classless and disrespectful on your part. Whatever, this argument has escalated way too much; You are entitled to your opinion.

The guy quit playing after being outplayed by Fed in Monte Carlo. What was his excuse? A sore throat. Never mind his mom and her comments. Novak has some work to do.

Very true.
She did say Roger's time is over.
In fact, during the game when Federer beat Djokovic after Australian Open, Federer went to Djokovic's family during the game and asked them to quiet, because the family was a bit out of control, even to the point that their talking trash(not sure about the last part, I heard it tho).

My opinion?
I like Djokovic, and the way the family supports him, but I think the mom just went too far with her comments and quotes. It's ok for her to be supporting her son, but talking trash about others is just too much. I think she embarassed and disgraced her family.

Hmm, in some sports in quite normal to talk trash about opponents. But not in tennis, it's still a very neat sport.. I think she crossed a line she shouldn't have crossed.

'you'll never lose to Federer again if you get more mature.'" Guess she was proved wrong already, or didn't Djoko mature?

You can tell who has class and who hasn't. Its really simple.

Djokovic's mother and Father have clearly no class. (His mother's comments about Roger etc, his Father's insulting/verbally abusing a commentator). No wonder Novak is such a classless act.

Compare this to Roger's parents, or Sampras' parents. Class speaks for itself. Especially when it doesn't speak. (When did we last hear from Roger's parents?) (How many times did you see/ hear from Sampras's parents in his career?)

Normally I won't get involved with nit picking but there was an article in the UK Telegraph magazine on Saturaday( a respectable rag) with Novak - he said that Fed's time was coming to an end. Now we may say this on this site or the man in the street will discuss but in my eyes you DO NOT publish your thoughts if you are competing with at the time ,or on tour with, one of the finest players in the world. His presumtion was arrogant and someone should mention to him that tomorrow is another day and he could fall off his high horse. Its one thing to be ambitious and want the no. 1 spot- ok- but do it by showing what you can achieve and not by mouthing off to a journalist and trying to promote yourself at the expense of others

Well said. Djokovic has got no respect, nor any class. Which is why he will be remembered as just another arrogant tennis player while Roger will go down as an all-time great sportsman, both on and off the court.

I would lay money I'm not the only one that thinks that due to his mouth, Novak is in for a few more beatings (or Retirements :)) at the hands of the player whose time is supposedly ending. In my opinion, Djokovic's continual running his mouth off to the press about Federer is just making things worse for himself when he comes up against Federer.

Well that's just the way Novak is,I have come to accept that. While I still have a lot of respect for his playing ability and talent I will never be a fan of his(I would go easier on him for his big talk if not for the Monte Carlo incident).

I totally agree. When you trash talk like that you fire your opponent up even more, look like an arrogant *****, and look really stupid when you lose to him. I'd love to see a Joker Fed final with Fed winning the title. That would make my year.

It would make mine too. As long as it wasn't a scoreline of 6-3 3-1 (Ret.)

That would be a sad ending and an anticlimax. Which is the reason I hope for a Fed-Nadal final. As much as i want to see Roger win the French I would rather see a full on match between two all-time greats, than see a capitulation by retirement. For me the odds of seeing half a final with Novak there are too great, so im pulling for Rafa to get there instead. If i thought Novak was man enough to take a beating from Roger id hope he gets through. Sadly thats one thing i dont believe. Novak would sooner retire than lose outright to Roger.

Novak is a great player and a young man, if people can't see it it's their problem and a sign of maybe denial
No denying he is a great player. He is clearly a threat to Nadal and Federer from now on in every single tournament. He has the game and the confidence to reach number one at some point (maybe sooner than we think). But it doesn't mean he's not kind of a *****.

Agreed. I think we want to see if Roger can possibly beat the greatest clay courter of all time. If he does that it would make my year even more so. Imagine what that would do to Roger's reputation - beating (what many consider to be) the greatest clay courter ever - on clay. So Roger can spank the Joker at Wimbledon instead.

Who revived this 6 months old thread and why?

Every time haters feel threatened or scared by Novak's performance on court these threads start popping up .

And I agree with Duke. So many classless posts talking about class.

If Novak's family had been less classless and shown more respect towards other players there won't be that many threads about "class" to start with. They should learn from classy acts like Nadal, Federer and Sampras!

Form is temporary. Class is permanent.

Lets not forget Fed lost when he was sick with mono, and spanked Djoker when he was better. Oh thats right, Djoker was 'hurt' and had to retire.

I don't see Sampras, Fed or Nadal parents proclaiming the greatness of their sons. In fact they hardly ever say a word in public or even show up.

More like his Pride was hurt and he had no option but to retire to save himself from humiliation. Thanx to his classless mommy's stupid outburst in Australia.

*******s, go and find yourselves a girl/boy. Grow up. Take the posters away from your walls. Take out Feds photos from your wallets. You should love his skills, not hate his opponents. This is sport, not a cartoon. Roger Federer is not Britney Spears. He is great tennis player, stop making other people sick of him, 'cause he deserves much better.

First of all, Roger deserves all the praise for his class act.
However, since Maria is WTA No.1 now, what Yuri deserves is only that he is a blunt talker.
If Nole becomes year end No.1 or even Rafa replaces Roger this year, what Nole's mom said will become true. So what the fuss? She just said something we couldn't foresee or we wouldn't see.

I found it very surprising for a parent to say such things. Even Yuri Psycopova wouldn't be that classless...

Well Novak is having the better year so far then both Federer and Nadal and is first in the atp race so yeah his mom could be right(although there's still a lot of tennis to be played in this year).I don't think anything Novak(and his parents) said or did is as bad as people here present it.I mean sure he's a cocky and confident(maybe overly)guy who likes to give controversial statements and stir things up a little and he does abuse some rules(but then again so does Nadal IMO no matter how much his fans justify him abusing the time violation)but that is nothing that much out of the ordinaty IMO especially in some other sports were guys like Nole make a majority.I'll probably never be a fan of his as I'm not crazy about his personality or playing style(I do realize that he's a great player though,no question about it)but I certainly don't dislike him or hate him either.I do think people here are overly bashing him and IMO a lot of that has to do with the fact that he beat Federer at the AO and that he's becoming a threat to take the number one spot from Roger(although Novak certainly did give them some other reasons as well).I mean you don't have to like the guy,but to hate him so much? That doesn't seem right to me but that's only my opinion.

I have nothing but admiration for Djokovic and his game. His game is exciting and he is an excellent player to watch and repeatedly I have said how good it is to have him in the top three. But noone should be allowed to get away with going public as he did and get away with it. In doing so he obviously promoted himself and attempted to diminish Federer. It has nothing to do with "class" but plain common sense and knowing when to keep your mouth shut. I am not a Federer fan.
