Did we miss the best match ever?

Doesn't anything ring a bell? Try "winners". Match stats are not always completely reliable.

10 and 6 unforced errors for the WHOLE match?! wtf?! This is sick!

I guess most of us were too fixated on the Youzhny-Gasquet match that we forgot about this equally long marathon of a battle!

Match stats are not always completely reliable. I'll give you that. :) But just imagine they are right, from the 256 points played if 24 where errors (16 UE and 8 DF) their are still 232 points left. Now that probably weren't all forced errors...

178 points won each. Malisse must be so disappointed at another first round loss. I bet he got angry.

No we didn't.I trust these scoreboard data as much I trust statistics posted by Fedace.

and i doubt it was on televised court anyway.

Whatever...its worth pointing out that in Sharapova's loss the other day to Kirilenko, nearly one out of every three points she hit an unforced error....and that's just in 3 sets of tennis.

There must be some glitch involving stats on the outer courts. It seems like every match played on them has around 1/10 of the UE counts of every match played on the show courts.

look at stats for King-Cibulkova, a long 3 setter:

http://www.australianopen.com/en_AU/scores/stats/day7/2160ms.html

10 unforced errors combined in a womens match seems statistically impossible. I would say the same for 16 ue's combined for the 5 set Malisse-Almagro match. Federer couldn't dream of playing that well for that long, let alone Almagro.

Here are some stats on showcourt matches:
Fed-Andreev: 93 ue's
Verdasco-Ball: 91
Djokovic-Gimeno: 75
Youzhny-Gasquet: 145
Granollers-Soderling: 107

and some stats on the outer court matches:
Mayer-Petzschner: 16 ue's
Troicki-Lapentti: 6
Kunitsyn-Acasuso: 16
Grosjean-Ilhan: 4
Serra-Melzer: 18
Koellerer-Veic: 4(pretty funny)

The stats from the courts without cameras are not correct.
Winners = aces x2.
UEs = DFs x2.

Yeah, that's what they're doing. Someone at IBM must have fell asleep.

I'm always interested in watching any a 'best match ever', so the thread title immediately caught my eyes.

Alas, my excitement immediately came to an end when I noticed one Almugro being involved in this supposed 'best ever match'.
That is just... impossible.

The problem is that IBM Statiscians (I have 2 friends doing it) cover only 8 courts. As in Rod Laver, Hisense, Margaret Court, Show Court 2 and 3, then 4-8 of the outside courts.

I believe the other courts are covered by the umpire who even then can't be expected to put such high detail into the stats I suppose.
