this thread has made me go search for some of the old pre-cortex aeropro drives. didn't know these original ones were so light, under 11 oz.

Say what?

APD without cortex, APD with cortex and APD GT weigh 305g unstrung. The weight did not change. ...

Well, all you Nadal fans can just go out and buy an Andy Roddick Pure Drive now and have the same weight as Nadal in a stock racquet.

so is nadal using the lightest racquet on the men's tour?

Pretty much, I think.

It has something to do with his reverse forehands that he commonly does. I think a lighter racket gives him more swing speed, yet the polarized setup helps more on the spin. His setup seems to fit his strokes.

It is pretty light for a pro but it aint the lightest, Moya for instance is lower then Nadal, Malisse, Martin, Clement and a few others are all very low too

You're a lucky man

Here are some close-ups as promised. Will post more over the weekend...pretty late where I am now..

That sure is a beauty. I still don't get why Rafa won't use cortex though.

He obviously likes the hollow feel...doesn't want any dampening, softness in the
racket !

That thing is like an out of control boomerang, except he can control it!

It is not for everybody...

I've ordered the retail APDGT, will post some pics of it next to the Nadal stick when it arrives.

In the meantime, a sneak peak at my next thread :) ................

I dont doubt that this is Nadals racket, but does anyone remember how adamant nadal was about having his racket strung one piece, with only two knots this one clearly has four

So this brings me to think, everyone says nadal is afraid of change and wont change his strings
Change number 1. 4 knots
Change number 2. New Strings

It was already stated earlier, that this might have just been a spare racquet, for charity. It's a strong possibility he had no intention in using this racquet, and it was just laying in his 'pile' of stuff.

There is no proof that these are new strings. To be sure, these could easily be custom dyed duralast.Top players don't change so easily.

Well, I think its possible this is just an actual Nadal frame that has not been customised for a match at the AO, as some of the posters have already mentioned. It is after all in new/unused condition. It's a different story for Federer, the racquets that he donates have all been match-used (as far as I know), so they would/should have his actual specs.

Now if only the guy who won the his AO BLX stick would come here and post pics :)

Since I've got my retail APDGT, thought I would post some comparative pics with the nadal stick. Looks identical to me other than the cortex...and something else......

What the hell? I see like $10,000 worth of unused BLX, KFactor and NCode rackets. Not to mention you bought the Nadal racket for more than that and I bet the Federer ones cost a fortune too. Are you a millionaire?

That's none of your business. Can't you just appreciate him posting these pics?

I hope I'm not putting anyone off with my collection. I don't really see any difference between my putting up pics of my racquet collection with other posters showing pics of their racquets (some I recall have even more racquets), I suppose the difference is that I am one of the few who owns actual pro frames. I am just keen to share pics of my collection, just like the next guy on these boards, so I really hope we can just focus on the racquets.

I wouldn't be surprised if I appreciate him posting these pics more than you. I have Signed pictures that I drew of Federer by Federer and he is my favorite player too.

What in my post said i didnt appreciate the pics? the only thing was that I was surprised at how many rackets there were that weren't used and that there were that many which costs quite a lot.

~Does Fabfed own Feds soiled pants??

I can't believe how much cash Fabfed is wasting on old bloody tennis rackets etc, surly there is another way to burn cash (possibly a girlfriend).

Sorry "fabfed" i just think it's odd buying ridiculously overpriced polo shirts from federer.com and spending all day posting us pictures of them, i know you love fed but spending insane amounts of money on his discarded clothing is blooming insane... I'm sure you are going to respond with a sarky droll comment so please, in anticipation spare me your pathetic attempts at wit... I twas simply a comment as we all know these forums are designed for anonymous slander ...

Think about it this way...

The 7 (or was it 8?) g's he spent on this frame went to valuable relief efforts in Haiti!

Fabfed,

I applaud your community service, both in revealing Nadal's frame to the tennis community, but more importantly, in helping out a devastated country!

Cheers,

Greek Goliath

Helping Haiti with large donations is a wonderfully honourable gesture, but i'm sure the donation was a simply biproduct of obsessive consumerism/greed/OCD/borderline personality disorder...

I'm only mucking around, i just cannot believe this guy has hundreds of rackets in pristine sealed condition, what's the point apart from feeding you guys his scraps through this forum, manifested through indulgent pictures.

You think he chooses to spend all this cash and collect all these racquets just to impress some people on a forum with some pictures? the guy hardly posts on this forum.. its his choice how he spends his money

Don't mind the youth on the board, there are many.

mrmb is probably someone who wishes they could get as many nice things as FabFed. Just like me but more angry. But seriously.. Why do you care what one man collects? I like pens and i collect them, are you going to make fun of me for that? Or will you make fun of the man that collects old sports cars? That is alot of money that he could be spending on a girl too...
