Difference between EZONE 100 (2020) and VCORE 100 ?

What’s the difference between the new EZONE 100 and the VCORE 100?

They appear to have very similar specs.

Any idea of comfort, control, spin, power.

Based on the pure drive / aero analogy I’m guessing:

Power - similar
Spin - VCORE
Control - Ezone - slightly tighter string pattern?
Comfort - VCORE (although I’ve hear the Ezone is probably better?)

Any thoughts on the above?

I demoed them both and found them both to be very nice racquets. All things considered, they’re both almost equal. The VCore was just a little too stiff for my taste.

The thing : Vcore 100 is thinner and more manouvrable so seems to be easier but...

Vcore is stiff and brings a lot of vibrations. It's too spinny so hard to have clean winners without bombing.
Ezone has a clean sound, no vibes and VDM does the job, the spin is there without being too much so winners are more efficient and slice are soooooo good.

Both are good on serve.

For me, Ezone brings more points.

I’ve played both and had a little arm trouble with the vcore 100. Moved over to the Ezone 100 and have not had any issues. The vcore feels a little more raw while he Ezone feels a little more plush, even though they have the same stiffness rating. Think it might be the vdm in the ezone. The vcore has more spin, but the Ezone has plenty of it. volleys feel more stable with the Ezone.

Have tried the 3, feel is the best with the Vcore pro yes, but no string will bring the amount of spin you naturaly have with a Vcore as its launch angle is really higher.
Ezone is middle of the road, so I would go for it if you're afraid of too much in a sense or another.

Ezone 100 is a great stick. Better than the previous Ezone 100. Like the Vcore 100 but it can feel a little brassy at times.

Looking for a little further insight/advice on these two....interested in migrating from my Pure Aero 2016 to one of these frames.

I’m looking for a bit more control and denser string spacing in a 16x19 tweener. I like the overall performance of the Pure Aero, but can be too powerful when the strings loosen up and getting tired of breaking strings often due to the open spacing. I guess my main points for each racquet are:

Ezone 100: is the feel too muted compared to my current racquet? I dislike muted racquets, especially the graphene touch and countervail tech, and am accustomed to a clean, crisp feeling at contact with Babolats. I liked the crispness of the previous generation but read these have gone back to being muted.
Vcore100: Is the string spacing too open? How is it compared to the Pure Aero? I’ve heard this racquet is crisp and is very similar to PA but gives a little more directional control (what I’m looking for), but have seen pics and worried the string spacing is too open.

I recently hit with the Beast 100 and loved it but saw it was discontinued. Also tried the new Pure Aero but same string spacing and it felt like a board. Head Speed 360+ MP felt like a toy and had a loopy launch angle. Set on one of the two Yonex racquets above though so trying to give more insight into racquets I’ve liked and disliked recently.

I have the Ezone 100 and owned the new Vcore 98. In the past the Vcore xi98 was my main racquet so I bought the new one expecting similar feel and play. It was not the case.

Power - I‘d give the nod to the Vcore 100. The Vcore 98 has a lot of power but it’s launch and tough to control.
Spin - Vcore, but Ezone has a ton of spin as well and it’s more “focused” if I had to define the difference.
Control - Ezone by a large margin
Comfort - Ezone again by a substantial margin for me.

Sorry its the 98, but I think it should be close enough in comparing the 2.

The Ezone is imo not too muted. I am coming from the Pure Strike v3, Blade v7 and Pure drive 2. I would consider those all to be muted frames compared to the Ezone 100.

I like a crisp feel, but I suspect that will depend on what strings you use. I get that feel in the Ezone using Silver 7 Tour right now. I will try a few more strings in it, but if you like crisp, but comfortable I can recommend this setup.

Thanks for the help. Typically use Cyclone or Hyper G for reference but would be open to trying a “crisper” copoly if it would make the racquet feel less muted.

you will like s7t in this frame. Im fairly confident. Its not an expensive string to try.

Thanks for the recommendation. I like that it’s in the same price range as Cyclone, my go-to. How would you compare the spin potential/stiffness? I typically try not to go over a 200 stiffness rating based on the TW Lab. I know ratings aren’t always indicative of how a string feels but S7t 16g is at 238 compared to Cyclone at 197.

Based on what you said about the racquets, I’m leaning towards the Ezone 100 as the Vcore 100 sounds like it may have a lot of the same downsides I’m experiencing with the PA (wide string spacing and can tend to launch). Really missing the combo of control and spin from my old APDs and thinking the Ezone may be the most comparable due to the tighter 16x19...

I never look at the TW stiffness ratings because they dont seem to correlate to real life for me. S7T is crisp and stiffer, but not uncomfortable for me at all in the 100. It accents the frame very well. I have had no arm pain from it.

The Ezone has exceptional control for being so powerful and does indeed play similar to the older APDs. I would not say it is the exact same, but it's got a lot of similar characteristics. I am not a fan of really wide string spacing either and that's another reason I did not like the Vcores.

Ezone 100 with S7T at 54/52 is my setup so far. I think you should really like it.

If I see a 2020 ezone 100 in 3/8 pop up I think I'm gonna jump on it and give it a shot. Any idea how much better the qc is than Babolat overall?

It's getting pretty rough trying to match all these APDs.

Yes, I haven’t seen more than 2g difference, much better than Bab. Also paint is miles better.

Substantially better qc. You can almost buy mindlessly without spec concern.

That's what I've been doing as-is, only to wind up kicking myself as I realize it's literally impossible to match a lot of these without going over 340g!!

That alone might be a a selling point.

I think I read on an other test site something between 195-200 for the 17g version. But like others mentioned it does have a nice feel. I still wouldn't string it too high.

Yonex quality is amazing. I think if you go into this expecting a little less power than the pd, and a very fast through the air tweener that probably doesnt need lead, you will love it. You can play any style of tennis with it.

i prefer the feel of it to babolat, but thats a personal thing. It has wilson dna in its feel like yonex can have in some of its frames.

Some good thoughts here as I've been interested in trying both these out as well, but interested in the Vcore Pro 100 vs the Vcore 100; and then the VC Pro against the Ezone. Specs on these two racquets are almost identical and are pretty much in my wheel-house, with the only main differences spec-wise being a little thicker beam in the Ezone, and 8 mains in the throat on the VC Pro. Strong 4.0 all courter here looking for controllable pop, arm comfort and stability. Anyone else done a head-to-head battle between the VC Pro 100 and newest Ezone 100?

I've hit all 3 of these 100s and the biggest difference between them is how the upper hoop flexes. The red vcore has this rock-hard upper hoop that just felt bad, lacking feel. The vcore pro is complete opposite: floppy upper hoop leading to a big power loss on certain shots.

Happily, the ezone gets it right. Even, consistent response and flex. Very confident on all shots.

I have all 3..
Ezone 100, vcore 100, SX300...
SX 300 has more raw power and explosiveness..more spin..than both yonex..
I have most control with the VCore 100..
I like the response of the Ezone 100..
I could use all 3 and enjoy each of their attributes..
All 3 are in the bag at the moment...

VCore was the best of the 100's for me. Same-ish power, but hit a heavier ball with better control. It felt like a more substantial racket.

For me Ezone 100 is much more controlled and comfortable than VCore 100. VCore has more power and spin and is stiffer feeling.

I am leaning towards the VCore 100..
It holds up better to bigger hitting..it's more solid and predictable.. depth comes more easily with lesser effort...

Actually the ezone is less demanding to swing..
The higher swing weight of the VCore takes more effort.. higher swing weight on equal swings provides more depth..

haha, this did not make my decision easier. I‘m trying to decide between the ezone 100, vcore 100, fx500, sx300, sx600, pure drive (I thought the vcore 100 was much better but they had different strings)

Does anyone know which frame serves best?

A buddy of mine moved to the EZone 100. He's got me looking at moving to it from the VCore 98 now. I like the more rectangular head shape and the fact that is appears to be more arm friendly. I also adore the fact that there is not a speck of red on it :)

It is true that blue racquets are not only cool but they are also +1 UTR.

Being impetuous, I went down to my buddy's pro shop and got the EZone 100 Demo. While there, they told me they also had the Percept 100 strung up. How could I resist? I took them both out and hit the ball machine for 1.5 hours. My impressions:

Percept 100
I hit it first (and as it turns out the least). It felt OK and I could have learned to live with it, But right off the bat, I missed some easy ground strokes. My opinion now is if I'm going to lay down $500+ for a couple of frames and with as many frames as there are now, it needs to be a fit from the first hit.

Ezone 100
This was a good hit from the first hit. I had previously demoed an EZone 98 and bought a couple of EZone 98+s & I bought a couple of VCore 100s. I just could not get them around on the ball and had no feeling. The 100 is a totally different frame. It is user friendly and has above average control. It also plays really nicely at the net. I thought it a bit more precise than the VCore. It is true that it's not as spin friendly, but it is more comfortable and point and shoot.

Were I to buy one of these, it'd definitely be the EZone 100.

Finally, I picked up the old 2021 (not the 2023) VCore 98 and hit with it. Now it's true, it was strung with a my setup and the two above had demo Yonex poly in them. But, with my setup in the VCore 98, I didn't see enough difference to warrant laying out the money for them. I might change my mind in the future, but Scrooge McDuck was whispering in my ear yesterday. I have gone back to the 2021 version for a couple of reasons. It does appear to be a little easier on my arm and a couple of the guys I play with have commented that my level of play is higher with the 2021. I have a couple of 2023's and will probably go back to them -- I played them at Regionals.

So, for now, it's the VCore 98 for me.
