Difference between SuperGrap and Wilson Pro?

I'm talking about the white versions of these two popular overgrips.

I am currently using SuperGrap and I'm finding that in humid weather it becomes sort of slimy and doesn't feel very secure in my hand, I therefore need an alternative, but I'm not a fan of the feel of the 'dry' grips, they feel too velvety to me and I'm not a fan of Tourna either.

I used to use Wilson Pro a long time ago and I'm trying to remember what it was like. I'm sure it was similar to SuperGrap but didn't have such a shiny finish to it. Unfortunately I can only get overgrips online and I already have several packets of different grips I have tried and discarded.

So my question is, is Wilson Pro a very slightly drier feeling version of SuperGrap? Albeit still a tacky grip but not as shiny as Supergrap?

I appreciate any answers you can give.

Many thanks

We may have different description of these grips, but here how I would describe them. Both of them are tacky for sure, but:

Wilson Pro Overgrip = less tacky, more clothe-like feel over time
Yonex Supergrap = more tacky, less clothe-like feel over time

I prefer Wilson's because it's not the tackiest grip (but still tacky), and I love how once that initial tack wears off, it becomes very soft and clothe-like. It's super comfortable in my hands.

Thank you for your feedback and comments.

I felt the moisture build up on the Yonex made it slimy and I felt like I was having to squeeze the racket handle hard to hang on.....not a very comfortable way to play.

I do want some tack but maybe with that softer feel that moisture will absorb into rather than roll on the surface. Maybe Wilson Pro is the way to go.

Although Wilson Soft seems to have the same tack level according to the packaging.

Has anyone tried this one?

If you want moisture absorption, stay away from Wilson Pro. I used Wilson Pro last summer, and few times it slipped out of my hand into the next tennis court. Supergrap is a little bit better in the summer but still not ideal. In the summer, I liked Dunlop Viper Dry. It has a non-woven layer in the bottom (like a diaper) to pull moisture away from the surface. It enlarges the grip a little more than Wilson Pro or Supergrap, but it does work better in the summer.

I don't need a huge amount of absorbtion, just enough to stop the grip going slick on me. I dont have very sweaty hands, its just I felt the SuperGrap getting a bit greasy on the surface.

I have tried grips like the Viper Dry and find them too velvety, almost as if I want to dampen them to get any traction. But thank you for your thoughts and experiences, it all helps.

With Yonex Supergrap, I need to replace it every match in the summer heat. I sweat like crazy and don't have a problem with it when I replace it often. Hopefully you are not like some of my friends who have black algae growing on their overgrip because they change it every 3 months!

If you can't find a better overgrip, in the meantime, you can use Supergrap with PrinceGrip Plus. PrinceGrip is the stuff you put on your hands to keep them dry. Needless to say, you should also be wearing wristbands.

I always wear wristbands, Adidas ones, so theyre pretty decent. And I use my towel to wipe my grip, but SuperGrap does have this sticky coating to it that is great when its cooler, but makes the grip slippery when damp.

I was just wondering if Wilson Pro had a slightly less sticky coating that would not cause this slippery feel to occur.

I'm clearly biased against Wilson Pro in the hot summer for the following reason. One day the racquet slipped from my hand and nearly hit an elderly lady playing on the court next to me. It was going fast enough that if it had hit her in the head, she might have been seriously hurt and it would have been my fault. Thoughts of being taken to court and losing everything I have were racing through my mind. Also, it wasn't the first time the racquet flew out of my hand like that. It happened at least 2 other times but the situations weren't so frightening. It hasn't happened again since I switched overgrips. I don't wish that upon anyone else, and no I don't think it's going to be less slippery than Supergrap, but that's my biased opinion.

I can see your reasons there.

I do live in the UK though and although we do get a bit of humdity it cannot compare to Florida.

I tend to usually have dryer hands than most I shake hands with at the end of a match.
