Difference of pt57a and pro tour special edition 1

I have several of Thomas Musters old pro tour 630 rackets and they measure at ra 65 and hence are much stiffer than the regular pro tour/pt57a. They also have SE1 printed in the throat for special edition 1. does anyone know the specifics of this layup or the pro stock code?

The layup is stiffer as you said and the Pro Srock code is the PT57Ax, where x=2 is the retail version of the PT630, and most common one used by the pros today. I believe the Muster layup is A3 but not a 100% sure

Ok thanks! I have an a3 and the ra is not as stiff. Somewhere around 63. i will remove the pallets on one of them to check if any codes are visible on the hairpin. By the way the rackets have the following specs (strung): 410g, 330 balance, and 390sw. No idea how he was able to swing that particularly since the rackets were strung at 39kg :)

Muster layup should have been labeled as "A4" if I recall well.

Where does the PT2.0 fit into this? It supposedly has an RA of 65, so is it the same layup as the Muster?

No, the layup is not only about stiffness.
the PT2.0 has the TGK57.5 layup which is different from the PT57Ax

I’ll check. I have never seen A4 but will ask. Not sure if they have that 20 year old info though

The PT2.0. That was a new layup developed for the PT2.0. It is a China layup

Ah ok, thanks! Was assuming it was a layup previously used for something else. This combo of layup/mold/etc in the PT2.0 is pure magic.

Would be very interesting. Although it is rather 30 than 20 years old information ;)
I removed the pallets on one and it only says tk57 like on a normal pro tour…

but i guess someone at head will know this information since they produced the exact same racket till recently for him to play at the seniors tour or at least during his comeback in 2012

Today I hit with one of the muster rackets. I left the original specs at 410g and 390sw but only restrung it to 22kg with head hawk. To be honest besides the high weight I didn’t really feel a big difference to my normal pt57a rackets
I will recustomize one to my specs and assess again the difference next week
