Difference(s) between Gamma X-ELS and Gamma Progression II ELS

Is there any?

I also might want to get the floor stand which is another $150, should I just get Gamma 6900, or 7900, or 8900, or 9900? The price difference between 6900 and 7900 is $300, is 7900 better? Has anyone used these stringers? I string for myself only to experiment with strings and tension. Tension accuracy and easy to string are my top priorities.

The 6900 is the exact same tension head as the ELS. The turn table has self centering columns, and the machine has the string measuring feature that is not needed. Either of the ELS on a stand is a better deal then the 6900 that has features you really don't need. I also believe the X-ELS is aluminum and the Progression is cast iron with a plastic shell.

Cool, thanks, you just confirm that I need to get the X ELS.
 
The base on the Prog II ELS will make you feel like a faster stringer with that almost-Ferrari-red hue...

Just trying to figure out how to get it to make that same sound as the car when I start it up. It's gotta be one of those buttons, right?
 
I'd definitely buy a 6004/Wise before either the 6900 or 7900. Save some money AND get better base clamps
(they both sport the same bases as either of those table top electronic machines...)
(and of course, have the crank backup if ever needed which is unlikely).

why would thebase make that much difference?

They don't. It's basically just cosmetic preference. The drawers on the blue one are almost useless. Red or blue, pick which color you like.

I keep all of my tools in those drawers. They are awesome.

bonus-
Sometimes I have little kids in this area. And they don’t even know the drawers exist. The tools are dangerous in their hands. So it’s amazing to keep them organize and hidden away.

My Gamma machines have drawers as well, but I find that I actually keep very few items in them (but that's just me... not a knock on the drawers at all).

As a matter of fact... the last time I spoke to @Dillon4787, he had just order 2 additional drawers for his Gamma machine (but they had not yet arrived).
His intent was/is to install the 2 additional ones on the opposite side (left side) of his machine - thusly giving him a total of 4 drawers. :cool:

While I was on the phone with him, I took some measurements on one of my machines (same model as his) and mentioned to him that I think the length of the drawers is just slightly longer than half the length of the base itself.
I kind of think that the ends of the drawers may collide/interfere with one another, within the interior of the base, and may not allow all 4 drawers to close into their locked positions (at the same time).
However, I haven't spoken with him since then, so who knows. :unsure:
Maybe he'll chime in and let us know how it went.

You adjust the "Quick-Action" base clamps via a nut (through 2 separate holes in the underside of the turntable).
Find the 17mm "socket" that comes with your machine.
Better yet... here...


Actually, your base clamp (that is closer to the bottom of the screen) looks like you may need to tighten it up just a tad.
The lever isn't supposed to travel all the way over to that furthest position. This means that there is a chance that the clamp may not fully hold properly (it may twist) at certain angles/certain situations.

The additional drawers didn't end up working because the turntable post goes through the base and blocks that space (d'oh).

T'was a worthwhile idea, though.
