differences between Fischer pro 1 racquets

Semi-Pro
I am interested in getting detailed specifications of the old version of Fischer pro 1 racquet and by old I mean model with silver & red cosmetics and prior models.I have played with current and earlier versions of the pro 1 and realized that the older one suits my game better.I would like to find out about those sublime differences between them .

Most of the older silver and red frames were 330 grams unstrung.
Fischer has sent 320 gram unstrung versions to the US of the last couple versions. The 10 grams difference does make for quite a difference in playability IMO. The 330 gram bat is quite the "club" with better plow through.

Here is what i know which may not be much. I have 4 PN1s. Two are 2003 US model, red with white. No silver unless you consider the white as silver. Two are 2004 US model which is all red and black, no white. They both have completely identical specs for weight and balance on the throat although I swear they play a hair different. 11.3 oz/320g unstrung.

i've never had them strung with the same string at the same tension, i should do a comparative review but i have no time these days. the vt pro98s and the silver/red pro1 are noticeably stiffer - around 65, the 2002 pro1s are around 60. the newer pro1s have a very sweet feel and feel very soft when you hit the sweetspot which is on the smaller side, unfortunatelly. the older versions have more power and worked for me well even when hitting in the upper half of the head. my favourites were the vtpro98s (red ones and the prevoius purple/brown ones, i've never played the blue ones ) in fact i still can't get over them. i'll post more when i have more time.

Thank You !
Does anybody know where I can find specificacions of the older frames. Is the 10 gr. weight difference the only one??How about balance and swingweight?

iksmols,

fischer pro number one comes in 3 weights: 330g, 320g and 185g, although from what i've heard only the 320g version is available in the us. all my frames are 330g. apart from the stiffness, i feel like the pro98s and the silver/red pro1s have a slightly higher swingweight. i've been searching for the swingweight of the 330g frames but all i found was 325 for the red/silver one and i think it is too much. try using archive.org and if you find something post, please. thanks.

p3k,Thanks for the info.I have silver&red and blue vacuum pro 98.They seem to have the same specs.(feel just perfect)They do seem to have little higher swingweight in comparison to the new Pro 1(I played with 2005 version black&red).

I've heard the old Fischers are nice but you might want to demo the new M Speed PN1. I hit the 98 tonight and its sweet. I played with the PN1 for 3 years and liked this better. Same control, a little more pop, bigger sweet spot, muted feel. Its worth trying.

The original red and silver version was the earliest incarnation of the PN1, and was different in composition from the later ones, it was similar to the VTPro 98 with ceramic in the layup. This made it considerably stiffer than later versions (around RA 65), and swingweight was also higher, so it had more power and felt less pillowy. Great frame.

RKS12,

i've been looking for a racquet similar to vt pro98. last two years i've been playing with the red/white/black pro1s but i play on clay with too much spin and i need more power than the racquet gives me. the sweetspot is also on the smaller side. i am interest in what you write in your review. thanks.

i dont know of a frame that plays lke the vtPro98 if you are talking about the blue/purple one..the one that called for a stringing range of something like 54-56. i used those for a few years and sometimes regret changing. the mold seems identical to the current pro1 but the layup contained alot more ceramics. i dont think the pro1 contans and ceramics even though it may still say SIC Ceramics on the upper hoop. my take on the history of this frame is they gradually took ceramics out of it until now there isnt any..each iteration of the frame played a little softer. the vtPro98 was unique...a stiffer frame but not a powerful one.

P3k, I play about 40% on Hartru and i think the Magnetic Speed could be a contender for a clay court frame. It has some pop to it but is controllable. I hit with it on a hard court but i could envision drilling balls into the corners with this stick with the extra preparation time.

i have never played with vtpro98 but the new m pro 98 plays noticibly stiffer than the latest version of pro no 1
