Different brands grip shapes, does it bother you?

I'm curious about this, and hopefully this is the right forum.

Im wondering how much, if at all, the vastly different grip shapes from each major brand can affect your game either positively or negatively?

Personally, i really struggled with Prince grip shapes, and have had by far the best success with volkl grip shapes. I know from reading around here that a lot of people dont like the volkl shape.

For me its much easier to get into a natural SW grip on FH and a strong continental/weak eastern 1HB grip.

In my case, its so bad that i basically cannot use prince rackets even though i did enjoy the feel of the O3 tour.

Just curious what your thoughts and experiences are....:)

I've used Wilson, Dunlop, Yonex and Babolat racquets in my life. haven't had any problems with grip shape, they all felt similar. Although I'm feeling that the current Dunlop shape is bigger than Babolat.

I've tried some Head racquets, but I didn't like its shape at all. But I also didn't try it long enough to check if I'd get used to it.

i think that prince and head are the ones that are a good bit different from the rest

for whatever reason i felt like the o3 tour handle was so rounded i could barely find the bevels

I have used Head, Dunlop, Volkl and Boris Becker (and also demoed Babolat and Wilson). I know for some people the grip shape is an issue, but not for me. I do not care about that at all.

Actually yes, that's one of the reason why I don't use HEAD frames, plus, they've more useless gimmicks than others...

Very subtle changes in grip shape can have a very large impact on a racquet's playability. Much more so than most people think.

Now, I've played with different grip shapes, and been able to adjust to them all, but adjust is the operative word.

Finding the optimal grip shape for you is by far the most overlooked part of racquet fitting/customization.

i've hit with virtually every brand out there and don't have any problems with the grip shape. it may feel a bit different when i first pick it up, but i adjust to it fairly quickly.

i agree, its certainly been an issue for me. i play better with volkl and one reason is definitely how comfortable i am with the grip shape. makes a large difference

anyone else?

After having played with a prince tour diablo MP for the last 2 months, I find even the wilson grips to be too rectangular for my taste!

I can tolerate all kind except Prince. I like Dunlops and Tecnifibres the best but I can play with all ofthers without problems

first racquet i ever hit with was a head, so it's always just felt right. but having hit with most other brands since i can definitely feel a difference in shape, but not enough to hamper my game in anyway...

I used to enjoy the grip shape of Wilson, but after I played with HEAD for a while, HEAD's grip shape grew on me and now I can't stand Wilson's.

I wonder if it has anything to the grip itself. I enjoy using the k90 and ps88 both being leather, but not so much on the k95 with the True grip. On the other hand, Hydrosorb is my favourite grip on the market.

I have fischer, kneissl, volkl, prince, babolat prokennex and wilson frames. I feel comfortable with all of them...the one that is least comfy of the lot is the prince grip.

Wilson is best.
Dunlop, Yonex, Babolat are OK
Head. Volkl are OK after minor modification.
Prince, Fishcer are not my cup of tea.
