Dimitrov: new racquet new results.

Well, that makes sense. Wilson has always had a thing for HH racquets. This racquet only needed to be a few Pts more HL (for us real people to use) and it would've been better than the Blades and Pro Staffs.
The frame would be unplayable at its weight with a more HL balance. The swingweight would have to be in the 310s like with the PS 95...

Could you elaborate?
Well part of the reason it has its power and stability for such a thin beamed frame is that it has mass in the hoop. This mass in the hoop would have to be reduced to achieve a HL balance at a similar weight.

Some rare players use mid static weight, low swingweight, very HL frames, but they’re not the norm. IMO, the 97S is the right spec for the modern rec player considering the type of frame it is.

Thx. I don't agree with you on the bolded part though. Except for a few on this board I have yet to meet someone who likes this racquet and the ones that tested it say mostly the same - slugish, too head heavy. But to each his own.

It's not for everybody obviously. It's more so than the PS 95 though.

Slightly confused..are you using unplayable in a negative way here? I'm used to it being a superlative when used in conjunction with sports, so just making sure of what you mean.

Just wanted to post my Dimitrov collection. Hopefully he will win some more, so these rackets will go up in value!

Just wondering, when you say "The swingweight would have to be in the 310s like the PS 95" are your referring to if this frame was at its weight with a more headlight balance?

Was scratching my head at the beginning thinking you meant the only way for this frame to be PLAYABLE at that weight and balance was to make sure the swingweight was in the 310s; which did not make sense. :).

Would you say these stock + a leather grip and some weight to counter balance would be the best choice?

It can be used as a negative when referring to equipment (in this sense it refers to the playability of a frame in a negative way”.

Yup that’s what I was referring to.

The frame comes with a leather grip. I’d pop open the buttcap and insert some weight, that’ll do it if you want a more HL balance.

I’d rather have graphite in the hoop than lead chunks in the handle in the end.

Wow, amazing! How did get all these?
Are the one on the left and right the same frames?
What about the blacked out ones? Bigger in size? 97?
Can you publish specs?

Can you post more detailed pics of each stick?

...fail better!

If you don't have a digital caliper you can compare the beam width to coins.

Dime 17.5mm
Penny 19.05mm
Nickle 21.21mm

That's interesting. Banks aside, why would someone in Switzerland be more likely to have American coins than a metric tape measure? ;) Let alone know what a 'dime' or a 'nickel' are.

The Swiss have everyone’s money right? I actually didn’t think to look where he was from. At some point I thought he mentioned a challenger in the states which made it sound like he had been here.

Regardless coins and bills are a great way to measure when one doesn’t have the proper instruments.

I was lucky enough to spend 2 entire summer vacations in the US when I was a kid/teen, learning English along the way. To learn what a Nickel and Dimes are was part of the program I suppose. And usually I keep my change from my travels for the next trip, so I was lucky enough to find the coins needed in my stash! Hope that gives you some peace of mind [emoji41]

Not sure that was me mentioning a Challenger in the US...

I have fond memories of the first few times my Irish mates visited me Stateside. US coins were a complete mystery to them. If you look at the dime - it has no indication of it's value on it other than to show the French word for 'one tenth' - "One Dime". So, are you from a French canton? ;)

I can no longer find the image, but it didn't seem to me to have a Graphene Radical throat and it also had the Wilson paint...

Correct, it appeared to be his custom 93 frame with a different drill pattern. It even had his gold script in the throat. The only difference I could see for sure is the four pairs in the throat.

Edit: I’m told it is the same mold as the current 97S, just different drill.

Found this online (Oxford-dictionary): Late Middle English: from Old French disme, from Latin decima pars ‘tenth part’. The word originally denoted a tithe or tenth part; the modern sense ‘ten cent coin’ dates from the late 18th century.

Left to right:
BLX PS95S paintjob (PS93 18x17)
PS97S Carpe Diem (2015 version of the Prostaff 97S)
Head Prototype from 2015 (95sq in Head Graphene Radical paint matte black)
2015 PS97S (2016 PS97S Mold)
2017 PS97S (PS93 18x17)

I suspect when he uses the word 'recreational' that he means more experienced vs amateurish. Most folks pick up a racket and like how it swings in the air. But it is how it performs on the court that matters, and more weight in the hoop tends to perform better court side when sticks are in the 11 ounce range. I find the 97S to swing fairly easily, and it is one of the few spin effect racquets that actually delivers on it's promises in stock form. I can understand why Dimi would use that string pattern. Control and spin in the same package is nice.

Any update on Wilson releasing a replacement for the 97S? I have a hard time believing the frame of the current #3 player in the world isn't available anywhere. Surely Wilson will try to bank on that soon?

You get Dimitrov's customized PJ at Wilson! LOl!

Damn that's pretty small..I wonder how people play with these small head sized rackets, I can't play with anything less than 98 head size. My younger brother (13 years old) played with a Dunlop racket which was 90 square inches for 2 years he won a lot of matches with it I was surprised
Try a 75” and you will love the power out of it..... hehe

If you go to the Tennis warehouse “pro gear” shop, Dimitrov is the only one I could find where there isn’t a racquet in his collection. So guess he’s not even pretending to endorse anything right now? Is he still getting his custom sticks from Wilson even though he doesn’t seem to have an endorsement deal with them right now?

Of course he is still getting his sticks from Wilson. He is still sponsored as I understand it. They used him to launch the custom paint aspect of there website last year. A lot of people put the tennis warehouse player pages as the Bible. And while they do an amazing job keeping it current he isn’t on there cause their isn’t even a racquet close to what he is using as Wilson doesn’t have a spin effect racquet within their Pro Staff range. I would love a relaunch of the Pro Staff 95 Spin and if Dolgopolov ever resigns I may have a chance at that. Haha.

Do we have clues to the flex of Dimitrov's stick? I'm curious if it is low. I know there were rumors that Fed's sticks (Pro Staff 90s) were more flexible than what you could buy.

I don't know if it's do to the layup or the hard epoxy in the handle but it was hard and unforgiving as concrete the last time I had the chance to hit with it.

Do you know the weight and balance points of 2015 PS97S (2016 PS97S Mold)?
I heard that in the Dimitrov stock, it seems to be a top light.

He was definitely using the old 93” black and red stick today at practice with Feliciano Lopez. I’m guessing all of the racket switching is what’s messing with his shoulder...
