Dimitrov new racquet?

Is Dimitrov using the 97 these days or 93?

And its odd that he’s sponsored by Wilson yet doesn’t endorse a specific racquet. At least none that I can see here

He's another player that none of us will ever know exactly what he's using. I wish someone, a fan who sees him at a meet and greet would just ask and report back.

If he's using a 18x17 now, my first thought was, maybe he is back to using his own PS97S (2nd edition shown below)?

But the beam thickness of his Brisbane racket looks wider than 19.5mm, and there appears to be a larger gap at the bottom of the racket before the first cross string.

Also looks like the number of cross strings on the "power pads" (or whatever they are called) at 3 & 9 are different from the PS97S.

PS97S has 5 cross strings on the power pads, whereas Dimi's Brisbane racket appears to have 4.
I think you mean the PWS (Perimeter Weighting System). 'Power Pads' are the leather inserts between the grommets and the strings at the throat:

NOTE: I realize that is not Dimitrov's racquet above. I just couldn't find a pic of his that was clear enough.

Yes, thanks, perimiter weighting system.

Dimi's racket has a different number of crosses through the PWS than does the PS97S.

You know he’s using the RF97 with the 97 Tux PJ and 97S string pattern.

Kvitova is using the same pj. I wonder if Carla Suarez Navarro and Batista Agut will have the white paint?

I don't know if it's the 97 or the RF, but sure the beam looks thicker than his previous racquets
Maybe Wilson did a spin effect RF for him?

Already thought it was very weird of him to change to a 16x19 pattern frame, since it is so different from 18 mains.

So he's not so much switching up when it comes to extreme frame and mold swaps.. he's just playing around with the string setups. That makes it doubly hard to know what he has exactly. Most people, like me, are looking for major changes in the frame and hoop.. not counting mains.
I'd imagine it's natural for a one-hander to do this, though. Seems the two handed players are the ones that change up the actual line or even company these days.

Well, either way he was spraying balls against Nishikori. Serve and slice were pretty good, but he didn’t look to have very good control anywhere.

Looks bigger than his 93...

not sure if I'm stating the obvious but the racquet in the top photo has shared holes at 8T and 9T. no shared holes on the bottom racquet.

you rarely see racquets with shared holes. however after doign a quick google search, the burn 100 that had shared holes... but it also had 8 mains in the throat. his only has 6.

is it common for players to switch racquets in the middle of a tournament? he's wearing the same outfit like the one he's wearing at brisbane. seems like a recipe to really throw off your game

Most players wear there end of the year outfit in the beginning of the new season then change to their new ‘19 outfits. For crying out loud, he wore his HO’16 outfit and won with the same at ‘17 Brisbane.

Anyone have the actual weight specs of dimitrov's frame?
@Booger: If he's really using the 'Mighty RF97' (glorified beyond belief in long lost threads from days of yore) none of this string stuff should matter. At risk of minor? thread derailment how's your Excalibur holding up? Still wielding the beast or did you tire of whuping everyone up to and possibly including God? :)

No shared holes in either, that I see

Dimitrov holding yet another racket in his hands in his training session with serena williams down under. Seems to have no PWS and no lead at 3 and 9

Has the PWS but went back to his old string pattern during off season. No more 16x19 and yes no lead. Probably customized the stick when doing the old string pattern on the RF97 mold.

Darren Cahill while commenting on Berdych/Edmund match said that Dimitrov has switched racquet to something that will give him "A bit more easy power." AND "It's working out for him."

Take it for what it's worth.

^He might be gaining more mass more headsize with his frame but his hair is thinning quite a bit (only noticeable in those close up pictures). He's considered one of the "model" more attractive ATP Players by media and whatnot? He was hot enough to date Sharapova and be with a popstar right now. Better go get those hair plugs soon.
I hate the widows peak fade on the sides. It's happening to me right now. Sometimes I want to cry about it. lol Don't take my hair!!!
He still has quite a bit of hair in the front that if he grew it out more, not shave it down so tight.. he could completely disguise it with a few tricks with hair product.

Also with these new White and Black paintjobs you can actually see/read "Pro Staff" on them. I don't know if the white just makes it pop more or they increased their font size. But I've been able to read them on the side of Kvitova and Batista Aguts racquets during matches on my smart tv.

Today's photo shoot in Monte Carlo. Maybe back to "gold". After his last Australian open match, Grigor gave away all his racquets to the viewers
