Dimitrov quietly looking good...

I like Dimi, just always thought he had TOO much athleticism and it confounded his play. Similar to a Monfils. Anyway..been impressed how he is quietly making nice runs in tournaments, and seems to be just plowing through his early rounds for RG so far. Anyone have him as a dark horse for later rounds? COuld be a good call.

He would have a great shot in the bottom half.

But unfortunately his 4R match up would be a mr. Novak Djokovic.

Dim isn't beating Djok in a million years at a Slam, sadly. Even if he had the game for it right now, he has nowhere near the mental strength and conviction to actually pull it off.

He had the miraculous disaster last year, but other than he looks quietly good at Roland Garros for a few rounds every year. PCB got him in 2017, Verdasco in 18, Wawrinka in 19, Tsitsipas in 20. It always takes decent players to get the job done.

He'd do very well to get through his next round, and I think it's safe to say that'd be the end of the road.

Interestingly he rarely goes down quietly to the bigger names, especially Nadal with some of the most epic matches. But then has those blips going out quick to some lower player.

Seems more focused to me this year. Maybe more relaxed with who he is in it all.

Well, that's sport, ain't it? If you're a good player it is easy enough to get up for the big match on the big stage when you have nothing to lose. It's expectations and the day in/day out grind that is the harder part to handle.

Even if he retires tomorrow would have had a great career

He's playing Diego next who has limitations due to a lack of size but Diego will never give a player the W, too much heart for that. He makes them work for it if he can.

How well he does that against Grigor depends on how tired he is. Played a 3hr45 5 setter today against Munar and neither players are known as stallers so that's a lot of tennis.

He doesn't have the game even if he fixes his brain somehow

Grigor should join his former girlfriend in some business venture; perhaps he'll find more success off court.
