Yeah, Federer is of course Federer. But I always liked watching Dimitrov more for some reason.

He was more mortal.

Federer was like a god almost, and Dimitrov is a mere mortal like the rest of us.

And I play more like Dimitrov: I hit shots with beautiful strokes and miss. :giggle:

But no, I'm so happy he won.

And long live the one-handed backhand!!!

another new gen of rubbish only knowing hitting hard

that said great pleasure to see single back hand winning a title!

Dimitrov is slower than 7-10 years ago, does not hit 140+ mph serves and 100+ mph forehands anymore, but he is actually a better player because of better shot selection and mental stability…

So happy for Grigor. Delgado seems a very good coach. Grigor has more belief and confidence on his shots and serves. With his skills, the big belief will take him far.

Rune was amazing. Grigor was out of this world today.
It was a very very good tennis match.

Dimitrov waking up the next morning after the match...

(Lacoste even had a camera crew there)

No, but it was a fun match. And it's so pleasing to see a style of play that I can relate to...

And to see that style of play win...

Screw it: Grigor to win a slam. Why not. He deserves it man. His run post USO is legendary, he was beating every top player minus Djokovic and is on the cusp of a top 10 return.
Right. Why not.

Anything can happen at 4 o'clock in the morning on those bright blue courts that sometimes hurt your eyes because you've been awake 20 hours straight.

You close your eyes during a commercial to catch a few winks, and the next thing you know they're up a set and a break.

The live rankings have him at 12, so a number #12 seed, I guess.

Anyway, all I ask for are nice deep runs at slams, and an odd tournament win here and there.

Oh, and start wearing Locate shoes. Those Vapor 9's (or whatever he's wearing) are fine. But go Lacoste head to toe.

Play beautifully and coordinate your clothes and shoes. You're Sharapova's ex-boyfriend. (Yeah, I don't know why I mention that either.) :giggle:

And again, viva the one-handed backhand. The elegant stroke for a more civilized age.

He needs Joker's magic potions to win a GS title.

Dimitrov of the 2017 Australian Open would easily win the 2024 edition of this tournament.
Fourth round or quarterfinals would be his limit this time, sadly.
:(

2017 Dimitrov couldn't win even in a field devoid of Djokovic. He is not beating Djokovic now. He was crying losing to Djokovic in Paris.

And in 2017 without Djokovic there was still Federer who blocked all others. 16 AO in between them and could have been 17 if not for pandemics.

It took every ounce of resurgent, pretty beasty Nadal to take our AO 2017 Dimitrov in that semi. That Dimitrov would’ve at least taken a set off Fedrah imo, which says a lot given how the maestro was playing.

Not to bandwagon Grigor, but when you consider his chances to win his maiden slam at AO 24, stranger things have happened. He’s hitting over his bh better than I’ve ever seen him and his slice is possibly the best in the game
atm. Can a LostGen member actually win a major? He will be a tough out for anyone the way he’s playing.

Haha is this real?
Yeah. When everybody accused him of apparently putting drugs in those drinks his team would give him, he laughed in a press conference and said “it will be released very soon”.

Well, unlike his documentary, he actually stuck to his word and released “SILA by Djokovic”. It’s sponsored the United Cup all week. It’s just electrolyte cubes for energy.

Will it magically make you recover from an abdominal injury or hamstring in record time?
:D
I don’t know, maybe. But I’m waiting for Nadal to release his own special fluid that he injected in his foot a few yrs ago to keep playing. When’s that coming?

Well played, first true event back for him since Paris, where it took Djokovic to deny him in the final. He is playing some fantastic tennis post USO.
I can see him making top ten in the next six months. Now that the pressure and expectation is off him all these years, he’s hitting freely and swinging freely. He’s playing like a 24/25 year old at age 32

He actually serves better than in the past (except for 2014)
