Dimitrov will WIN WIMBLEDON 2017

Big four has dominated The All England Club since 2003 for a staggering 14 years. Longest dominated tournament by four players in open era history. Someone has to break the duck and claim their maiden Wimbledon title. Dimitrov seems to be the head of the pack, he should win this and his game suits the grass courts.

Who should win other than big four.

1) Dimitrov - Best Result is SF
2) Raonic - Wimbledon Finalist
3) Cilic - 3 QF Appearances in three consecutive years
4) Del Potro - SF in 2013 and has the game to win on grass
5) Stan - 2 QF appearances in past four years

I think Dimitrov is deserving of a title at SW19, but he needs some added guile at the net, movement, to make it there.

If he waged all at the clay season, also a surface where he can excell, he may not have enough in the tank.

He's averaged 0.5 wins per year at the French for his career, and has gone out in the first three straight years, so I think expecting much out of him there might be a stretch.

Summer and fall are where he'd make his move, if he makes it.

hmm - Dimitrov is one of the few new guys I think are destined to do big at the French.

Gricasso is now only really coming into his strength, so I remain on the fence re predictions. ;)

Don't fall into the Dimitrov hype trap. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, can't get fooled again.

I don't see him ever winning a major. His career highlight will probably be the Wimbledon semi against Djoker and his semi against Rafa at the '17 AO. He's improved greatly but he needs to shorten points at the net on a regular basis and beef up his serve. I didn't see evidence of this in Australia at all.

I am not sure I agree with this - not with what you saw, because you are absolutely correct and I said it myself he should be ending many more points much faster. Having said that, I honestly think he is currently the best grinder out there save Murray, but has time on his side and that is important. I don't see why he couldn't outlast people, plus he really has a chance on all surfaces. Also, with time he is surely going to improve his serve, most people do, so I have him pegged to win a major or two, maybe even 3, providing he keeps his level or even improves it.

Bold prediction OP. If he repeats his AO level, he can definitely do it.
But I think Stan is going to complete Career Grand Slam. ;)

Stan is not going to win Wimbledon, this is the least likely slam he will win.
But Dimi has a shot, but will need to be at his best.
Andy Murray is still the fave at the moment, and on betting odds.
Cilic is the dark horse imo, was very unlucky to lose his QF last year.

Dimitrov has been a big utter FAILURE. No guarantees with this clown

We'll really need to see a draw. My guess at top players for Wimbledon:
1. Federer
2. Murray
3. Djokovic
4. Dimitrov
5. Raonic
6. Zverev

Darkhorses:
Cilic, Thiem, Pouille, Kyrgios

Upstarts: Mischa Zverev, Bublik

Don't rank Wawrinka highly as he's only made one grass final in his career.

Is Dimitrov even particularly good on grass?

I would like to see him make strides, if only because the lost generation needs to show up sooner or later or we're heading for a very dark patch in tennis history in the next few years.

if you mention cilic, then maybe tsonga also deserves to be on the list with 2SF + 2QF... and last year he lost in 5 sets against the eventual winner (who won all his others matches in straight sets... even if it's true that his draw was a bit cheesecake-like).

but a dimitrov win would please me :)

I want Dimitrov to win , but if the performance in AO was his best form, I can't help to say he is not capable enough. Still no breakthrough in his game that can give me confidence, as in his latest loss against Goffin.

Yeah, cause clearly it didn't take one of the performances of this year (from Rafa) to beat Dimitrov at the AO. Did you even see the 5th set? Rafa was out of the tournament with one leg before he found astounding form in his service game facing break points.

There's really nothing about Wimbledon's grass that differentiates it all that much any more, so "particularly good on grass" might not have much meaning where one's Wimbledon chances are concerned.

That said, Grigor's results at that slam have historically been about a round better than on the hardcourt slams, and certainly better than they are on clay (which DOES differentiate itself because of the footwork and fitness required). So no reason to think he'd see any extra struggle there for any reason.

Write off Tsonga,he cannot keep his form in a row in the second week,at least from the angle of his past performance.I won't bid on him.
If he's in the zone,he indeed can do anything, such as upseting Fed at Wimbledon even if he's 2 sets down. But he could not continue running any further after he upset some big guys.
Anyway, this year is interesting, the competition at Wimbledon will be unprecedentedly open. But still ,Tsonga is at the bottom of the potential-winner-candidate list.
