DirecTV US Open Mix - Coverage of multiple courts simultaneously!

FYI, if you have DirecTV satellite service, you can now tune into Channels 680 to 685 and choose any of five courts to view five different matches going on live at the US Open. This is in addition to and in conjuction with the USA Network coverage on Channel 242.

I just tried it now and it's GREAT! I can choose to see the whole Federer match on Ashe stadium or the Hingis match on Armstrong or the Monfils match on Grandstand or the Grojean/Johansson match on Court #10 or a women's match on Court #11, without missing anything and without all the jumping back and forth between matches that USA is forced to do with only a single channel.

I guess this is the wave of the future for live tennis coverage in the U.S., finally! :D

Well, wait until they screw you next week when a quarterfinal match goes past 12:30 am est, & because direct tv only has the east coast feed of usa, you can't see the match(like blake-agassi last year)

its odd that direct tv offers this, but doesn't have the tennis channel.

I'm curious, does this mean that there's no commentating (commenting?) on the matches... so we can finally watch the action in peace?

There is still commentating, but not much unless barry mckay is doing it then it's non-stop commentating even though he's by himself it seems.

I believe though that this feed is only good for the 1st week? I'm not sure though. I thought I saw someone post that somewhere.

On the show courts (Ashe, Armstrong, Grandstand) there's commentating, but not on the outside courts. Right now, I'm watching the Haas-Kuznetsov match on Court #10 and there's no commentating at all. :D

Yes, but since they now have all these other channels, I wonder if all these other channels would also be also forced off the air at 12:37am due to contractual obligations with CBS?

Then how did I watch the Agassi-Pavel match past 12:37 using the Direct TV service. Yes, I live on the east coast.

No, this has nothing to do with The Tennis Channel (TTC). I don't have TTC either because I have DirecTV, and as you said, DirecTV doesn't currently offer TTC. This US Open multi-channel service is being offered by USA through DirecTV. If you have DirecTV, you should have it, no extra charge. :D

Yeah this usopen mix coverage is awesome. It's been on pretty much all day. There's no commentating on some of the outside court matches. Sometimes I hear Jimmy Arias and Taylor Dent commentating.

Hope you all enjoyed it. Today is the last day from what I'm told.

I certainly enjoyed it. It was awesome!

Got to watch the Murray-Kendrick match out on court 10 which they never would have shown, along with the Srichaphan-Novak match, and many other countless matches too many to name. :D

I only wish they would continue to do this for a few more days. :(

Is this coming back next week?

It's not on right now (nore are 681-5) and yesterday I think I saw a sign with the US Open logo and a 'come back next year' message.

For DirecTV users: I would encourage you to send an email to them giving them kudos for this. I'm sure they would appreciate the feedback.

i read somewhere that this was only till last friday so I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't come back. I think the issue is with CBS's rights to broadcast the matches on this labor day weekend.

I wish they still had this. It was the first time I was able to watch a full Kirilenko match (and the ability to pause and rewind at will with TiVo).
