disadvantage of hitting with a wall?

nice videos. That's about exactly where I stand to hit agains the wall in order to take full swings at it. Before i stood too close but after I figured out the distance I like hitting against the wall now.

splitstep: you're sooo right. looking at those videos, i can't imagine anyone saying that this type of practice is ineffective. i CAN understand someone saying they personally do not like doing it. but a wall cal help you rebuild a stroke, make a grip change, work on footwork, how you address the ball, height control, practice spin, practice maintaining a consistent contact point...

when you hit with someone, often times their shots are too inconsistent to allow you to concentrate on whatever you're trying to work on.

when i say "wall" i'm referring generally to a handball or outdoor racketball court. that's what is easy to find here in southern california. when i'm in south america we use a paleta fronton court, or a wooden (very loud!) backboard.

seen these when i was very young in Bolivia, played paleta before too back then, are these the ones that have the 30'-40' walls? what about the sound, is it better or worst with a tennis ball?
racquetballs make a pretty loud sound, but i never tought of trying it with a tennis ball

one thing ive notised in this thread is lots of people talking about timing, and how the wall does not help them on this
i can't see anything helping with timing, wqall or not wall, everyplayer you face is gonna hit you a ball in differnt ways, the timing is gonna be different for everyone you face
user92626, said it very well, it will match wat ever speed you throw at it
self improvement is the key when facing the dreaded wall, while borring and repetitive, it does improve your game if you use it a self teaching tool
