Disc Golf

So I decided to go disc golfing with a few of my friends a couple weeks ago. I was amazed at how much fun it was. I have gone every day since. It is cool because there are a bunch of courses within 20 miles of me and I have played on 4 of them.

Tennis is my favorite sport and I love to play it but when I was hitting the other day all I could think about was playing disc golf. Has anybody else played? If not you should

It's a lot of fun. We used to play when I was in college. There are not many really good Disc Golf courses readily available.

If you have one take advantage of it!

Yeah disc golf is more fun...plus theres a park right next to me that has disc golf and horse shoes so it works out perfect

The fun thing about Disc Golf is you can actually set up your own course just about anywhere. One of the most challenging courses I played wasn't "official" but was still a blast.

Here is a pretty active Disc Golf Forum.

There are courses tucked away in some of the most fun places; some where you almost need climbing gear to play the whole course. I like DG much MUCH more than "real" golf.

The first I heard of it was on Seinfeld (as Frolf), I haven't played it yet, but it does look like fun.

I like regular frisbee, especially watching the hardcore guys do tricks, or people at the beach that throw it toward the sea, and let the wind carry it back to them

Welcome to the club hewittfan3! I know I usually only post on technical questions but I am a pretty big fan of frisbee/disc activities so I wanted to give a shout out. I prefer ultimate frisbee over anything (no, I'm not a hippie) but disc golf falls next in line. If you ever get a chance check out Balboa Park in San Diego, California. They have a great course there.

Disc golf is a great game. The Richmond, VA area has a lot of nice courses, as well. A nice, fun, relaxing way to spend a morning.

There are a bunch of courses around here in Dallas, and my friends go all the time. They're pretty hardcore into it, too. I, myself, have never gone with them, though. I don't like golf, any form of it.

Except putt-putt. I'll do putt-putt.

How long have you played in SD?

Even "true" hippy chicks? You know, the ones with hairy pits and legs? White chicks with dreadlocks? Bath once a week types? Combo of BO+patchouli smell 24/7? :)
Well if you can put-up with all that (and some actually bathe more than once a week), then you're gonna have a good time 'cause anything goes with hippie chicks! (Just don't mention how much you like steak or whale meat-a sure relationship killer...).

I like fake hippie Ultimate Frisbee chicks (very athletic, no makeup) as well as true hippie chicks (as described). Hair doesn't bother me. The key to the latter is to go the skinny dipping route so there aren't any BO issues. BTW who said anything about a "relationship"?

Not me...I didn't say ANYTHING about a relationship. I agree on fake hippie chicks...so much so that I married one. Fake hippie is good enough for me, though. You're more hardcore than me. :) I like 'em cleanly shaved.

I love disc golfing, I've played for a few years now, for me its relaxing and smoothing walking through the woods and not putting any pressure on myself like I do in tennis, its a nice change of pace, I get out as much as I can

Its also very wallet friendly, you can get away with only using one disc playing casually and a disc is about $20 for a top notch disc (lesser discs are anywhere from $8 on up), and you rarely have to pay to play so all you really need is chump change and a little bit of free time, I affectionately call it redneck golf, who ever has never tried it really really should
