Disposable vs. Cloth Face Masks!

I just try both today! The disposable is easier to breath through but after 30 minutes, you can smell an odor. Not sure it is from the mask or from my breath. The cloth mask that I have is thinner since only has one layer and not 3 layer in the disposable mask. I threw the disposable mask away and used the cloth mask after the disposable mask generated an odor. I hate to breath into something that has an odor embedded in the mask!

I have some cheap disposables that probably are not 3 layer. Never noticed an odor.

I have 3 types of masks, a professional hospital mask, a general mask, and a cloth one my aunt and her knitting friends made. I wear my aunts mask when at the store.

Are we playing tennis in these or just everyday use? Really hard to play in any mask. Ok for walking....

Well, do the masks smell before you put them on?

Bc if they don't, well then your oral hygiene might need some adjusting......just sayin'.

Ugh, no! Brush my teeth and did mouthwash before going shopping! Did not eat or drink anything either!

Are brands like Nike and adidas making masks with their logos yet? Perhaps an RF bandana and mask set?

If you notice a sudden change in body odor or breath odor, you might want to visit a doctor to get a checkup.

There was a study about how dogs a detect certain types cancers in humans.

The saliva tends to have an odd odor when it dries, there's plenty of bacteria there.

Try another brand of disposable face mask yesterday and work just like my cloth face mask. I guess, it the manufacturer and not me. Be wary of these cheap disposables that are “really cheaply price”. See if can get minimum amount like 5-10 before ordering a large quantity.

its from your breath. it gets contaminated within 15 minutes of wearing and you have to throw it away. you can keep wearing it but it will be useless and Dirty with millions of bacteria. you can buy a N95 mask from online and sterilize it daily using UV rays from Suntan bed. You can go to one of those California Tan places to sterilize it. Trust me it works.

You throw away a disposable mask within 15 minutes of wearing ? if we do that my company will file bankruptcy within 6 months.

The one that I wear is P95, same filter as the one on the N95 but it can be disinfected with alcohol or soap and water and be used again.

I only wear a face mask when it is required of me. Otherwise, if other people are wear a mask and it is not required, no mask for me! I always try to avoid people now! Strange world we are living now. Sort of sci-fi like!

Cloth masks are there to protect others from you,if you happen to sneeze or cough. The will do absolutely nothing to help you not inhale someone elses infected breath or sneeze.

Is there a line for potatoes in your country? :p

Bill Gates may have been on to something, if people cant follow simple instructions during a pandemic, maybe we dont need them. Let darwin do his things, with exception of what ny gov cumo did to the elderly.

No. I’m not playing tennis in a mask. Arrest me lol.

LOL... I would play with one either... all that C02 in the mask.. and I bet you pass out. I was not suggesting one wear a mask.. just looking for clarification from OP.

I wear one when needed all the time. We are way out in the sticks... if I see someone on a hiking trail we always move way out of the way. If I lived in a dense population .. or dense population (ie. stupid) area.. I would wear one when I walked. I go into a store.. mask up. Had a medical check-up... mask on and temp check at the door and all customers.. put in separate exam rooms.. no central waiting areas. I was never in and out of that office so fast.. :) .

BTW.. no bad smell in mask.. of course I am nuts about oral hygiene to the point of OCD.. so I am guessing if you don't floss or rinse.. you could get some blow back into a really good and tight mask. My daughters are both essential workers and wear them for 8 hours a day and they are breaking out on their faces. They have to be really careful about always having a clean mask and really deep cleaning entire face more than usual. They are young ladies and are nuts about what their skin looks like... so they work hard to work with the mask and have had to get used to all that comes with it. They can take breaks and change masks also when needed. I have been practicing using them..as the 1st few times... it caused me some extra stress.. you need to learn how to take in breaths in a different manner in my limited experience.

If I had to play tennis in a mask... sorry no tennis. I also teach tennis... not sure how that might work... but for now.. a Moot point as my summer tennis camp is in phase 4 in WNY... and we will not get there... for months. By then.. summer will be over. My camp is also supported by NYS, County and Town taxes... these will be the 1st things to be cut from the budget.

Be safe... protect yourself and others. Mask On When Required!! You do not the right to get me sick!!

No. I’m not playing tennis in a mask. Arrest me lol.

Our public courts at schools are locked. Our public courts controlled by the recreation department are open. Unfortunately there are far more at the schools. The one we played at on Friday had a sign outside the courts on social distancing so it appears that the city we played in is saying it's okay to play. This city also has a $1,000 fine if you don't wear a mask where you can't social distance. So if you go to a store or government building, you have to wear a mask.

The state strongly recommends a mask but doesn't have a policy in place that requires it.

I wear balaclavas in stores and other places. I do have some N95s in a box in the basement but I never opened the box. We have a box of surgical masks somewhere too. The balaclavas are very flexible. You can wear just the top, just the bottom, the whole thing or leave it around your neck so that you can pull it up when you need to. It's just a little on the warm side and you have the Ninja/Terrorist/Bank Robber look.

I have worn it with the all black look. Add a ski mask you you body is 100% covered.

I carry three in the car. Only wear one when I need to. I hike and bike solo. Have to hit the store.. mask... pump some gas... mask and wipe down pump. Doctors office.. RX.. mask. They are to protect others. See someone on the trail not giving me space... no problem.. I make the space. Not rocket science.

Hitting singles... following USTA guidelines... No doubles

So what is a good face mask to play tennis in? So far it’s been good weather and played outdoors and on the court without a face mask. However come cold weather and indoor playing some places do require on the court while playing face mask. The disposable surgical masks won’t work as they already slide around just walking around a grocery store. What is a good mask that will allow playing tennis in?

I switched to Costco supplier of disposable mask after they offer for sale and the mask are perfect. No odors at all and last 2-3+days before change overs! Cheap too! :giggle:

I have wear one the entire time I am with my HS team. Talking... feeding... drilling.. playing. With the colder temps... I am happy to use it. :) I use the basic disposable mask.

Disposable, but after each use the mask goes into a container with UVC wand for at least a minute at home. That is overkill becuz the germs/viruses are gone after 15 seconds. Any odor is also gone as I noticed that smoke odor also dissapeared. When the mask is pulled out, there is no smell or a slight ozone tang that also goes away quickly.

I accidentally wash my disposal mask and it came out in goid form but outside was a deeper blue and inside was white! Since they were so cheap about .40. I threw it out!

I buy a ten pack of the surgery masks. No issues..use them once andcout they go!

The cloth mask will not protect others around you in the same way as the 3 layer surgical mask will.
Then you have the FFP (or whatever) 2 and 3 masks which will even protect you.

The 3 layer surgical mask will last you about 2 hours before it needs to be replaced. Once it gets soaked with your breath it lets it through.
The better masks will last longer.
