Djok will overtake Federer

no he shouldn't retire.

he should remain here and maybe end up 25-35 h2h vs Novak.

The fact that Federer still beats Murray/Stan is only going to be good for Novak. Novak needs these guys to be taken out, and Fed can do it for him. Then Novak only needs to beat Fed, which he is consistently doing at the slam level.

Fed taking out Murray at WB 15 was a classic example.
Sounds like a pigeon doing his job for his master.

Federer applied a 3 set choke-hold on Murray last Wimbledon. He comprehensively suffocated Murray's game.
For him doing fine against Murray doesnt change the reality tat Murray is still a tougher opponent for Novak than Federer.

Unabashed Federer fan here. I find these threads funny. Djoko beats old man Federer and Djoko fans proclaim him greatest ever. When Djoko is 35+ years old he will be losing to the ball kids because his game depends so much on movement. Anyone that knows tennis will not put a lot of stock in prime Djoko beating old Federer.

I am hoping Federer wins 1 more slam.

Also, I don't think Djoko will reach 17 slams. He will lose a little speed over next year or two and leg recovery between matches will diminish and he will begin to lose more.
How predictable.

he does not pose the biggest threat to Djojkovic right now. That is laughable. The 2 players who are legit tjhreats to Djokovic are Murray AND Wawrinka. And Nadal on clay......don't count him out yet.

Murray is a legit threat ? You lost all credibility fella.

By hot you mean 100 degrees ?

Murray has won 1 match out of a zillion against Novak
Murray is more tricky opponenet for Novak because of the stye of play these two have. Murray is capable of what Simone doing against Novak. Fed at this stage of his career isnt capable of doing that.

By tricky you mean he can grab a set ?

How many matches has he won in the last 20 against Novak ?

How can I put this bluntly without coming across as a troll.

Federer shoukd retire.

One cameo 3rd set does not detract from the fact that he got whipped severely tonight. He should get out now while he's still in the top 3 and only trailing Djok in the H2H by one. As it is stands now, he's already lost to Djok in the world's most important matches and I can't see him beating Djok any time soon. Yes I know he beat Djok in the WTF only 2 months ago but Djok won the match that mattered. So he should retire before he starts embarrasing himself in these Djok matches and the H2H blows out, because that's how he will be remembered, unfortunately.

If he's playing on because he thinks he's got another slam in him or he thinks he's going to win the Olympic Singles he may as well quit now because it ain't going to happen.

Again, not being a troll, but Federer's game has nothing which can hurt Djokovic. In every aspect of Federer's game, Djokovic has him covered.

Djok will probably win the golden siam this year and in time will get to 17 slam wins in time.

Again, not a troll. Really, there's nothing to dispute here.
Despite it being a laughably weak era, I highly doubt it.

Also; Federer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sampras.

or...he would have pooped in the final, no matter what.
Seppi may have been the guy that stopped him last year AO or Wawa may have taken away #2 at RG15.
Having a losing H2H against two biggest challengers of his career (otherwise, according to your logic, he would have had easily 30+ Slams) is a huge dent.

Unlikely. Yes Federer is susceptible to early losses like Seppi now, but he was not going to lose to Gasquet, Dimitrov etc in a Wimbledon final the way he was playing. At worst, without Novak he would have won 2 more slams.

Yes he is, and if you don't see this, maybe you don't know your tennis. What federer did in that drop shop, Murray does 10 od those per match. Fed cannot do that. Think of Murray as a poor man's Djokovic. They play a similar game.

Andy Murray is a current day Lleyton Hewitt.

Yep, time to hype Murray up before a possible final. Guy who went from 11-8 to 22-9, is the strongest rival. Sure!

When was the last time Murray beat Djokovic? Toronto? LOL

Hell Federer got him 3 times last year and that's the most any individual player has beaten him in the past two years. Djokovic's greatest threats are still Federer and Stan. He's just been keeping them at bay.

If you don't want to come across a troll, don't pretend people will remember Fed for his h2h with Novak, or his failure to win a 19th grand slam as one of the oldest players on tour.
No one will remember either of those things.

Fed needs 1 break to get another slam.

Take Djokovic out and he will most likely win. Even in 2014 he came within 2 matches but lost to a uniquely well playing cilic

This past uso he made it in straight sets through 6 matches to reach the final.

Fed should not retire, he just needs a lucky break.

Most tennis pro's would kill to be #3 in the world- hardly a reason to retire because you can't beat the current world #1
Roddick spent several years in the top 10....could never beat FED but you can't say he didn't have a good Career.

as a Fed fan I pretty much look at 2011 till now as Fed's Second Career...lets take the name out and just do the descriptions of awards.

Career Player #1 - 16 Slams won (Slam record) YEC- 5 Gold in Doubles (highest ranking #1)

Career Player #2 - 1 Slam (YEC -1) Silver in Olympics Singles (highest ranking #1)

the description of player #2 is what most players dream of...

close examples

Del Potro - 1 Slam Bronze in singles YEC- runner up (highest ranking #4)

Andy Roddick -1 Slam (highest ranking #1)

Lleyton Hewitt - 2 Slams YEC-2 (highest ranking #1)

Andy Murray - 2 Slams Olympic Gold singles (highest ranking #2)

Stan Wawrinka - -2 Slams Olympic gold doubles (highest ranking #3)

Marin Cilic - 1 Slam (highest ranking #8)

so of those players...if anyone of them was put in place of Fed vs Novak in the semi final..afterwards would you think...Man that guy needs to retire.

I doubt it

Fed fans who are stuck in the glory years might save themselves some heart ache and realize their man in his twilight years of tennis is having what most pro's can only hope for.
forget H2H...or records he has that might be broken....he had a Goat career (that is unmatched so far) and an additional amazing career that any player/fan should be happy with

and the Novak fans that keep talking about the destruction of Fed..need to have some common sense and realize their guy is beating Career Player #2 ...which still takes effort and I still applaud him...but he's not destroying Career player #1 by any stretch of the imagination.

I almost wish Nadal and Federer would just retire now, and expose the tour for what it truly is. Suddenly, beating Ferrer and Berdych in SF/F wouldn't look so great. These guys are just acting as props for this weak era.

Oh FFS not this again...

Then the rest of the tour should retire as well right? Since no one can beat Novak everyone should retire and just mail the trophies to his estate in Monte Carlo.
I wouldn't mind that. I'd have a strong excuse then to not watch whatever sorry state this sport is in and will come to. Little hiatus till about 2018 when hopefully the Rublev generation will be ready? Wouldn't mind that at all!

Glory days, well they'll pass you by....

Federer is still on top, it's like when everyone was telling Favre to retire. Why would they when they can still make millions more by doing what they love.

In 2013 Federer made 40 million dollars from endorsements.

He did what he needed to do in the last decade, now he gets to play and reap the large sums of endorsement money.

Edit: Fed made 58 million in endorsements in 2015

if the world n°1 need of a 35 years old guy for beat his younger rivals.....

djokovic facing like main rival an old federer only proof than he is a fake n°1 who beat only mugs and older legends
The tour is in a worse state now than it was even in a year like 2002. The only shining light is that Murray/Raonic are still active at the AO; wouldn't mind Raonic making the final and ending weak era Stretch. Also wouldn't mind Murray beating Stretch. Win win for me whoever makes the final, but I gotta feeling Stretch is going to clean house.

All Fed is achieving by playing on is clearing the path for Djok by beating Wawrinka.

Fed > Wawrinka but Djok finds it toigher beating Wawrinka than he does Fed.
